for what its worth, my 2014 max s wouldn't shift at all, I pulled valve body, checked solenoids, tore valve body apart, cleaned sticking spool inside valve body, put back together, added approximately 5.5qts of cvt fluid, and it shifts now, but I must be super easy on gas pedal(almost less than 1/4 pedal until it picks up). It gets worst if I drive car all day. Also if you fix sticking spool in valve body, there is a tcm reset using gas pedal, keyswitch or push start, and two to three minutes. It got rid of code p0764 but transmission is not perfect but no codes in tcm. My next step is to try another valve body. P.S. I already replaced external filter and stepper motor and Ive changed fluid twice. Just my two cent.
The ford fiesta has a dual clutch transmission not a cvt, I have had much success repairing the dct transmissions in the focus and fiesta unlike the altimas cvt, I have come to a realization that if it has internal cvt problems your only option is replace the transmission. I get stuck working on them ALOT being that I run a auto mechanic business.
That transmission shop wasn't trying to 'take you' for 4 grand. You showed up, without the car, and he told you what it would cost to replace the transmission. Yes those cars had major problems with them. Yes you can do anything cheaper if you do it yourself.
He could have mentioned that the valve body and or solenoids were a major known problem and would be 1/4 the cost instead of jumping straight to needing a transmission.
You need to understand that the valve body is not the only issue with the car, and if he does a vale body and you still have issues then he took your money for nothing and your still in the same boat... there isn't a professional trans shop in the world who would repair that cause they know the consequences.. as a DIY cou can try and hopefully save some money by replacing common fault parts and only hope it will solve your issues and from experience it's less than 50% of the time... so go for it cause it could be worthwhile but dot have a go at an auto shop with so much experience for telling you what should be said to you.
I had the same problem with my 2014 nissian maxima with 108k miles. I sold mine for $4900. Yay!! Bought a mazda 3 2017 grand touring with 23k miles on it. I waisted so much money on the nissian. Stay away from those cars. I tried replacing the selinoids and the stepper motor and the fluids multiple times. Mine still had the belt intact.
It would be the same for the Nissan Murano? Mine is a 2007 I bought it and PO746 code came up on the way home . They told me I needed a transmission as well. I found the solenoid online, is it the valve body?
actually I had so much going on that I ended up selling mine like it was, but I was going to. its a bear, have to drop the whole subframe. sorry for the late reply just seen this. did you get yours replaced?

@@xlr8auto1 Thank you. I hope it is an easy fix too. I took it to a transmission place and they said $4,600 to replace the transmission. They didn't do any real diagnostic so I didn't trust the place. I don't think it is the transmission since it shifts in all gears. I am going to try to change out the transmission fluid and the filters (inside the valve body and on the side of transmission). I hope that will fix it.
@@xlr8auto1 I am praying and hoping mine is an easy fix. Car shops are always out to make a buck by telling people things need fixing when they don't. Thanks for sharing. Ive been burned by the newer Nissan's to many times to ever buy another. Ill buy the older ones, or even better any with a manual.

Did it work ?
But my question is do you have to reprogram the with a snap on scanner...or was it plug and go??
If you watch my second video you’ll see I had additional damage on mine unfortunately.
