Hi again... So I was watching this video and trying to evaluate my own roster accordingly (Standard save with White Sox) and I wondered if my approach is valid for Baseball. I am more of a football (both American Football and soccer) guy when it comes to simulation games so I lack the knowledge of "common-sense" when it comes to baseball, which I believe have many distinct and unique. traditions and values. Which is why I'd like to ask this: After about 3 weeks of play, I decided to promote Luis Robert who happens to be a great prospect in CF (80 potential according to my "outstanding" scout), replacing Engel, a very good defensive player who is the definition of below average at bat. Since I am rebuilding, this sounded very logical bcz Robert was lighting it up at AAA. Now though, after 162 PA his stats look like this: WAR: 0,1 / AVG: .222 / OBP: .259 / SLG: .467 / BABIP: .280/ WRC+: 66 / OPS+: 65 / ISO: .137 He is not unhappy with his own performance but I am... Therefore I am thinking of sending him back to AAA about a month or two (I have just finished first year amateur draft). The question is, I am not sure if this is the right approach to help a player develop. In real life sometimes it's good for a player trying to cope with a challenge at a higher level rather than being the king in a lesser environment. But I am not sure what I should do in Baseball or OOTP terms. A long comment for sure and sorry for that but I'd like to get your thoughts on this. Oh and I watched your videos about player development and promotions / demotions but I thought that since this is also about the main roster, you might suggest a different approach. Thanks again, your work is a great help for Baseball newbies like me and it also kind of helps promoting the game internationally. MLB and OOTP should give you some kind of accolades :)
Hey Erdem, I'd probably keep him up if he's accomplished all he can at AAA. 162 PA is a decent sample size, but it can often take young players much longer than that to adjust. Given Robert's ceiling, I'd stick with him for longer before demoting.
Yeah, personality and chemistry are definitely worth paying attention to. But, as long as you're winning, you can get away with having a couple jerks in the clubhouse.
Whenever I start a new game I always trade for simmons, hedges and hamilton/buxton. I'm glad I was making the right moves :))
Those are definitely good guys to target!

in my experience having all positive roles filled in team chemistry really helps with performance overall
