-be seth in the middle of a completely open game -thief of sanity stays on the field for longer than .0000001 seconds "yeah people i don't know how were coming back from this, lets scoop it up"
Thief of Sanity just feels like such a depressing card to face IMO. I can't blame him since I do the same thing most of the time, but as a content creator maybe he should wait it out or edit it out.
Thief of Sanity is the type of card where if it gets in two or three hits it feels like you can't win (while this isn't really true, it often feels that way).
I built this deck literally yesterday. Probably 60/75 identical. I strongly recommend Deafening Clarion; with Niv in play it's a board wipe plus 6 life against aggro.
One of the most hilarious things about the deck is that half the decks in standard don't always have removal in hand for Niv. And when they do remove Niv, a lot of the time they use Prison Realm or Hostage Taker or something else that gets removed immediately, and then Niv re-enters, so they inadvertently give you another 4+ cards. So we keep seeing Seth digging again and again because it's such a stupidly hard card to kill.
Seth, the text on Niv requires you to pick every color pair possible, your only choices are when you hit double of a guild. There's no need to select each individual card each time you play Niv. Notice how the outline of the card goes from a light blue to a gold color once it's selected, and the auto-picked cards are already highlighted gold.
I would have named the deck something like Niv's Toolbox or even Toolbox Reborn. Most exciting deck you've played in a while. Would love to see this sort of thing on a stream too. I LOVE toolbox decks with come from behind victories that outdraw and answer your opponent. Good work Seth!
I was watching this in bed with my fiancée next to me. She wasn’t paying attention. She said I had a big smile from ear to ear on my face. She thought I was talking to some girl online. But it was because he smashed the shyt out of control 🤣🤣🤣
i m testing this deck right now with some small changes, it crushes every deck in it s way! unbelieably good. Against sultai midrange, esper and Grixis control, even aggro. Is this deck maybe really competitive and tournament relevant?
Maybe I'm missing something, but why not play Teferi at 50:20 to attempt to draw into an untapped land, then thought erasure, then untap for Dovin's Veto? Perhaps could have one😁
The big challenge of that game was that we only had one blue mana and a handful of blue cards (so we could only do one thing each turn). Going with Teferi might have been right, although if we don't hit blue mana we end up allowing our opponent to resolve Teferi and tuck our copy since they can Thought Erasure our Dovin's Veto.
I literally opened an r/Edh thread with this exact name The only one that answered told me "Just go Food Chain hurr durr", when i labeled it as a hecking CASUAL commander
@@filippodardi2180 Only deck I use FC in is my Ravos/Tana deck where my whole goal is to cast my commanders as quick and as often as possible for all the Commander synergies (Lieutenant, Bastion Protector, etc.) and for Commander Storm cards (like Skull Storm) and FC really helps with that.
Every other content creator during spoiler season: “I think that card is fun. But you´re not going to see it in tournaments or anything.” Seth: Win every game with a deck built around that card.
27:00 You won seth but the correct line had to be to Veto the draw spell right? He discarded a card to cast it so countering it means he discarded 2 cards for no gain, and cant possibly come back. Letting him draw an out(that may or may not exist) cant have been correct right?
The problem with countering the Chemister's Insight is that if the opponent's one unknown card in hand was something weird (like Single Combat) we could actually get janked out if we spend our Dovin's Veto. Since our opponent only had five mana left after Insight, even if they draw into a weird answer (like Single Combat) we can just counter that and proceed to win.
This is a very minor pet peeve for me, but when you get Niv, you don't have to click every single card for each color combination. They're already highlighted as ones to take. The ones you do have to click are the ones for multiple of the same colors, like a growth spiral and a krasis in the same reveal. For those, you do have to click the one you want.
Thief of Sanity is a triggered ability (rather than an activated ability). It just sort of happens when Thief deals combat damage, so Spyglass doesn't help.
Conceding to Teferi game one just has to be incorrect. They’re on no known counters and your one untapped land away to drawing up to 10 cards. At least wait for your op to counter niv before saying “oops, guess Teferi is too good”
You dont need to click cards with the Niv ability. If theyre gold bordered, theyre already selected to go into hand. The blue borders are the ones with options you have to choose between
With small teferi out there and you ticking up, there is no reason to thought erasure main phase. Do it on their draw step. (Even if the draw an instant they can't cast it due to little tef). And Concoct can get a niv right back on the field after a big teferi tuck (Since you can surveil him to the gy and return him)
I personally dont. Youd have to cut a lot of guild cards for the heros and the heros dont hit off of niv mizzet. And if niv isnt reliable, youd just prefer good mana in your esper hero deck

I wanted to find a way to fit it in, but the mana is already the most questionable part of the deck. It would be good, but I'm not sure we can afford colorless lands.
The thing about new Niv is that he doesn't just draw cards, he is a Dig Through Time that digs deeper and grab more cards. Dig is banned in modern and legacy, and I'm definitely seeing why. Yes, Niv is way more expensive, but he is also a 6/6 flyer so....
You have a bad habit of boarding out your 2 and 3 mana creature interaction vs esper. You need to learn that in midrange and control match ups their boarding in 3-4 thief of sanity and your 1 for 1 removal holds good value vs that.
Edit: I tryed this game and i have like an average win rate in constructed with it, nothing crazy good but nothing laughably low either. It is a fun deck, especially in control matchups where it feels favored. It is not something that can be used to grind ladder or constructed as games will be quite long and the wr doesn't justify it. It can win against midrange and aggro with extremly good starting hands, it is ok to mulligan to 6 or even 5 with it if you don't see any way of interacting/ramping for the first 3 turns in Bo1, in Bo3 just keep your hand if not mana screwed against control so they play on the defensive while you're building enough manapool to outvalue them anyway. It is definitely not an arena begginer friendly deck, nor a begginer friendly deck also. If you are new to arena and want to play a multicolor deck, at least play a deck that use x4 of rare lands because you'll still be able to play other variants of those multicolors. If you ruin yourself building this deck you'll end up with only getting very few reusable cards for any other multicolor decks while burning a shitload of wildcards. ofc If you are a collector or want to do every color of deck you'll want copies of every shocklands and the deck would not cost that much in the end. It cost me very little to complete for example because I hunted for the shocklands each time these got released. Ima try this deck but for newer arena players keep in mind that this deck is a tremendously arsh investment. The manabase cost a lot of rares, some cards are also far from stapple(like chromatic lantern I believe I never saw this card in a top 8 for example) and the dual shock lands do not come in stack of 4 either so it isn't that a good for accessing other decks.
