There have been way more unfair (if you believe it's unfair) fight results than this one, where Joe says a 5 second thing and then moves on. But just because ankalaev was adamant that he won, Joe drank his hype and Daniel's from earlier, and so he did this whole 15 minute speech about how it's the most unfair thing in the world and how disappointed he was. They scored it this way as Jan won the first three rounds and Ankalaev won the last two. People are often biased towards thd last round and that's where the confusion comes from.

Was not a big fan of Ankalaev, but he seriously deserved the belt and this was very disappointing decision.

@Just Chill But this was not rigged. Jan won the first three very convincingly. It's difficult to win a fight when you're three rounds behind. You'd need two 10-8 rounds.

I rewatched and it could be a draw at the and although I though it should go to Ankalaev. First 3 rounds you could give Blachowicz as well, last two Ankalaev, and if last round could go 10-8, that is a draw. The last round could go 10-9 Ankalaev also, and maybe round one o three Ankalaev, except controll on the ground from Ankalaev we haven't saw anthing spectacular, at the other side Jan did somer serious damage with those leg kicks and was better fighter for sure in stand-up fight. If you reatch, it was really close fight .
I thought Dana was a real fan. Dude came back when fighters have literally been tko’d from leg kicks. He switch game plans and did what he had to do. I thought it was an incredible performance from a true warrior.

Judges are humans and prone to errors. If you don't want them deciding your fate then finish your fights.

I think it was more that ankalaev acted like he smashed him for 5 rounds and cried about the decision. When the reality is it was a close fight where he literally only won 50% of it. Hence the draw

I agree he was super harsh. When he made the fight on the same night that's when you knew he was doing it to be spiteful. Dana should blame himself! Glover should've been fighting that night, if he's upset about the outcome he's the one that put that fight together, neither were the #1 contender. So now he's mad that the fight didn't deliver and there's still no champ. Way harsh and disrespectful blaming it on the fighters and calling the fight boring when both those guys took some serious damage in there.

heartbreaking for Ankalaev! I thought the fight wasn’t boring at all. It was a beautiful storyline where Alkalaev used his high fight IQ and versatility to turn it around. Just wish he started to taking the game to the floor in the earlier rounds as well. If they rematch, Allalaev will win ez now that he knows what works and what doesn’t with Jan.

These judges need to get sacked asap. It’s become a serious issue. Now every event so many fighters r being robbed.
The way he came back after having his legs blown to oblivion in rounds 2-3 and then almost finishing Jan in round 5 showed that he was overall more well rounded and a better fighter in the moment. Sad that the judges were completely blind. First round could have gone either way with magomeds front kicks and jans hooks, but magomed landed way more sog strikes and had so much more control man.
So… Jan won rounds 1-3.
Even if Jan got dominated at the end, it’s not really a robbery when you score the rounds.

doesnt show 'overall more well rounded and a better fighter ' is shows that Jan was better in the first three rounds and then ran out of gas as he took this fight at short notice. It was only at the end of the fight he could take Jan down, when he was tired as he was not fully prepared. Jan showed he had more skill in the first part of the fight when it was on equal terms.

You could argue that he was not robbed (10 - 9 till round 3 for Jan and 10-9 4th round and 10 - 8 5th round both for Ankalev) or you could give third round to Ankalev and then a split decision victory would be okay but it's okay both guys will comeback stronger.

Honestly, this is why it SHOULD have been an interim belt. Let's be real, Jiri is still the champion, Glover #1, this should have been interim. Jiri is the real, now uncrowned champion. Bless Ankalaev, Jan, Glover and Jiri for all the confusion and strife in their championship dreams.

@@krislo4788 they didn't put him on the spot. He even came back while ankalaev was being interviewed to confirm that the belt should be given to ankalaev.

We might want to consider looking at those ankle 'sleeves' more closely, because many joint support devices are loaded with plastic or metal, it appeared to me that there was a buldge moment in the top of the ankle sleeves which looked suspiciously not like part of a foot.
Plus, when the cameras zoomed in on Ankalaev's shin and calf there appeared to be lacerations as if it was sliced by something, bludgeoning forces often bruise, not very frequently do they cut like a knife edge.
I would say round wise is a draw, (2,3 for Jan, 4,5 for Ank and the 1st is tied) but one dominated standing the other on the ground which is why I feel like Ank won. He got control time, ground strikes, and the takedowns.
