Sir, I started baking cakes & breads for almost 9 years and I had already my regular clients nationwide here in Japan so now I decided to get Barista course to start to run a business for a small coffee shop infront of our house & hopefully will become successful in the future... IN JESUS NAME... Thank you very much for the tips that you have shared to all ur viewers... MAY ALMIGHTY GOD BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY...
That's great to hear you found this helpful! Best of luck with the coffee shop. Let me know if there's any topics you'd want me to cover in the future Maria.
"The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same." -- Colin R. Davis. "Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it." -- Henry David Thoreau. "Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do. Don't wish it were easier; wish you were better." -- Jim Rohn. Hi guys! Let me just share to you a short story. We own a cookie shop business in our college town. When we first started it, we just graduated college and were living in our car with very little direction, just a huge passion to be successful. I started it out of a local bagel shop in their off hours at night with my boyfriend, Bran. It was a crazy experience but it worked! We became a success! And how we have our first storefront location (a second one currently under construction but launching soon!) We started it to fund a year long backpacking trip around the world and to be successful while living the life of our dreams.

Hello from Bogor, Indonesia. Thank you for your amazing information.. i get a bunch of it. On october, i want to start open a coffee shop near from my house. Its my first time, really first time. I'll hope i can get stronger mentality after saw your videos, cause before i felt like too much scare for failed. God bless you bro Wilson! Cheers out!!
Opened my own place 3 years ago to roast and sell coffee. Converted into a cafe and restaurant after the first year and it has taken off!! Currently serving more than 100k of coffee per week! Great video
Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks black coffee is surely different. The beans they both use for milky espresso drinks are similarly low quality and sugar covered
I am a believer in diversification and not putting all eggs in one basket. I love how you explained those clearly in 8 steps within 8 minutes. Kudos to you, Wilson. 🙌
Hahhahabaj don't coffee, Starbucks coffee hajahha don't think k anyone pit tje US would EVER try it more than ones. Worst quality ever.. Europe and the world os LOL so hard at your kind😊
It’s trial and error on knowing what people want. If I was opening a coffee roastery I’m not concerned about making sugar based drinks. People that go to higher end coffee places expect better quality coffee. If they want their diabetes drink they can go to Starbucks.
Thank you Wilson for creating such amazing contents to share your experience and knowledge with the like minded. Kudos in coming out with new content every week. Is there a video on the "must have equipment for coffee shop" ? This will be helpful for all of us with the coffee shop dream in working out the initial startup cost. Cheers!
Great to hear the videos are helpful Chris! A coffee shop equipment video sounds like a pretty good idea. May do that :)! If you have any other topics you'd like for me to cover, let me know!
My issue is with low-value overly commercial vendors. Food should be edifying. 'All Natural' must be your baseline. "All Organic and Non-GMO" should be made clear, this is not a sometimes we buy 'local' market-hype affair. Most market centers, (like san fran) couldn't possibly deliver value at prices the average laborer could afford.
Fire! Thank you so much for posting this and giving me great tips. Super helpful and easy to follow even as a beginner. I am currently in the process of figuring out how to open my own coffee shop to, in the long run, help start an after school program. This tips are definitely a start in guiding me in the right direction.
First of all, thank you for this video. This is a great reminder even for existing business. Anyway, if you don’t mind giving me some tips, my coffee shop has been facing difficulties to get new customers instead. It is a neighborhood coffee shop with good accessibility and good quality of F&B. I have to admit that the interior isn’t as aesthetically pleasing as others, but the money is tight. Do you have any suggestions according to this problem? Thank you so much :)
Thanks Wilson for a video! Can’t decide on a location. I stay in Dubai. We have a residential area where new buildings are coming up very fast. This area has quite cheap rent... It is quite big as well... there are no walking areas though. Couple of small parks but I can’t say - those get crowded ever. So, any commercial place you look at - does not have a traffic passing by. Do you think I can count on word of mouth and on people driving from there buildings for 5-6 minutes to get a coffee at my place? ( no one walks around because of a heat ). These district has one bakery ( they serve coffee but the quality is not good) , one coffee shop inside a hotel and a coffee on a petrol station... Maybe there is someone from Dubai here??? Will be happy to get in touch! I have one more thought - taking a coffee truck instead ( for a beginning ). Do you think it’s a better idea?
mr. wilson i have problem with unvisible of my location, because i dont have a lot money to rent some store, and i just use my garden's parents, how can i maximize my location? or my unvisible location was no hope ?
Thank you so much for making the business easy to understand... I have been in the restaurant field over 6 years and now want to have my own coffee shop/cafe and this video was very helpful to set the foundation
This is really helpful! We have a bubble tea shop that I want to rebrand, changing the interiors and whatnot. I'm really looking forward to 2021 and start with a bang! And I completely agree how you clearly explained the AOV.
If it makes sense for you to. By sense I mean would people order from you? Does the numbers make sense if you do? Some cafes have specialty pasteries where ppl do order food delivery and the margins make sense.
I can't say for certain as I don't know what the syllabus is for the schools you're taking part in. BUT I imagine that those programs would be helpful since you'd learn things like basic accounting, finance, marketing, writing, etc. All which are great for any business you do. Would recommend getting some real life experience at a cafe to get a feel of what it is like working at one and maybe a management position.
Hello Wilson, Thank you once again for another fantastic and inform video. Thank you for also inspiring hope during this time. Unfortunately, I missed the free Restaurant Webinar. Is there a link that I can use to watch it?
Depends what kind of coffee shop concept you're going for. A mobile coffee bar cost are different than a take out window spot. A large furnished student friendly cafe costs are different as well.

What is the most difficult thing to work at a coffee shop
Hey i was wondering if i open a night time cafe for people who cant sleep would that be bad
Not too sure about that idea. You'll want to see how many ppl are looking for that and whether you can even get enough customers.
What education would I need? Maybe a bachelors in business, communications, or entrepreneurship ?

Is it okay to build my own coffee shop even if i didn't study?
Yea for sure. But it would be helpful to either have experience or some knowledge in business. Not a pre-requisite but it may help you here and there.
