When I was 13 we lived in a small German village in the Hunsrück area of Germany in 1963. Dad was Air Force and we were there for three years. Being interested in WW2 I was always keeping my eyes open for coins and other artifacts from that period. One day I was walking up a hill on the edge of the road and was looking for more German Reich coins in a little stream/sewer running alongside the road when I spotted a rusty pistol in the water. Being a fan of the Sgt Rock comic books back then I knew it wasn't a Luger but it was small, the grips were rotted away and, looking back on it, I'm guessing it was a Walther. This pistol type exists since 1908 like the name says. It was used from police and military since then for almost 40 years till the end of WW2. It also lived through 4 types of goverment systems in Germany: 1. Monarchy until 1918 2. Democracy until 1933 3. Dictatorship until 1945 4. Democracy since 1949
This is amazing! As a kid, I found an old revolver in the dirt outside a hotel. It was in a similar condition, but my grandma told me to go put it back.
@@billbammerlin4666 Smart man. It was definitely hot, lol and yeah, I once knew an older woman, very attractive in her 50s. She had an old german, or Japanese submachine gun from WW2. She told me it was technically illegal to own it, because it was full auto.
The restoration process is incredible and fabulous; Going from a piece of junk to a relic is beyond words. What is missing is to test it in each restoration to see its shooting effectiveness.
How can I get a very rare, historically significant piece in your hands for restoration? I guarantee, you haven’t seen anything this important, in need of repair and restoration. A true museum piece.

@@1badombre82Yep I’d be firing this with a string pull from behind a shield😂😂😂
Now I have seen a lot of world war 2 stuff but this is something that is entirely it’s own!!! Excellent work man!!! This is truly a unique piece of history!!
This pistol type exists since 1908 like the name says. It was used from police and military since then for almost 40 years till the end of WW2. It also lived through 4 types of goverment systems in Germany:
1. Monarchy until 1918
2. Democracy until 1933
3. Dictatorship until 1945
4. Democracy since 1949
I thought this could not be restored, I am amazed! 11 out of 10!!! amazed!!!
This goes beyond way restoration, actually straying into refurbishment, well done!
Excellent Restoration. It's such a blast to see someone work their craft to yield such high level results...
This is amazing! As a kid, I found an old revolver in the dirt outside a hotel. It was in a similar condition, but my grandma told me to go put it back.
I found a revolver in a cinder pile with one bullet fired and showed it to a police friend of mine and he said throw it away.
@@billbammerlin4666 Smart man. It was definitely hot, lol and yeah, I once knew an older woman, very attractive in her 50s. She had an old german, or Japanese submachine gun from WW2. It was given to her by her grandfather who served in WW2! It wasn't very big. About the size of small caliber rifle, but man it was heavy! It must've weighed 12 lbs! She told me it was technically illegal to own it, because it was full auto.
Impressive, just a wonderful restoration, work that becomes art bringing back historical artifact. Well done!
The restoration process is incredible and fabulous; Going from a piece of junk to a relic is beyond words.
What is missing is to test it in each restoration to see its shooting effectiveness.
Now that is a true restoration - not just the removal of some surface rust! Amazing job!
Amazing restoration!!! You do very good work, that pistol was almost completely gone but you rescued it!! I look forward to more challenging videos.
First actual restoration I’ve seen. Everyone else just stands stuff down until it’s shiny. Amazing work
How can I get a very rare, historically significant piece in your hands for restoration? I guarantee, you haven’t seen anything this important, in need of repair and restoration. A true museum piece.
You would never normally find something like a Luger in this bad of condition. You could always try to buy a dug up rifle (maybe ww1 or something from the eastern front, where this Luger most likely came from)
The knowledge, skills and patience to do this is very impressive! Enjoyed watching!
1.5 months to restore from rust bucket to its original glory. Magnificent job
Insane. I was not expecting you to utilize that much of the original.
A wonderful restoration. It is obvious you are a skilled metal fabricator. Thank you for sharing.
Just incredible not just your skill but the knowledge of how it all goes together.
Amazing transformation. I honestly thought it was beyond salvaging.
Its amazing how you restore something so deteriorated. Excellent workmanship
How did you clean out the inside of the barrel? Impressive work!
This is absolutely impressive, superb work! I didn't think this pistol would even be salvageable and yet the finished product- looks like nothing ever happened to it.
Incredible work!
I love restoration videos.
Also the click and snap noises the gun makes when it works properly... so satisfying.
Truly enjoyed having watched your restoration! It left an indeleble moral in my mind: when you really want to accomplish someting you can do it! Outstanding job!
Thanks for sharing!
Being a firearms guy this is the best restoration video that I've ever seen, you are the pro of pro's
Very nice work! It’s an excellent wall hanger for sure.
Thats a beautiful pistol right there, and a piece of history for sure. If only restoring it would also automatically give insight into its past and its deed, good or bad. Good job man.
Germans sure knew how to design a gun.
The germans have good guns vause theyre only allowed to have 5 of em
what do you mean good or bad? its pretty certain its bad
@@brookie6969 ww1= fine
Ww2= depends were it was found
All i can say is this is an example of craftsmanship and skill. Well done.
That’s amazing. Compared to a modern Glock nowadays, a Luger P08 is fairly complex. Very well done.
And it’s not plastic !
Awesome restoration. I’ve never seen anything in such bad shape end up so nice. Impressive
You get a 10/10 bro!! Your absolutely incredible at restoring things!! Simply amazed!!!
Great job restoring sir! You took a German Luger P-08 Pistol, that was in "terrible" shape, and definitely a "non-shooter",and you spoke some magic words, waved your magic wand, and now you have a decent shooter P-08. Many thanks for your video on a handgun known by millions, the Luger P-08.
Eine unglaubliche Arbeit! Respekt in jeder Hinsicht! 👍
Im shure he wrote down the serial number of this pitol , so in German archives they can find to whom this pistol belonged. So family of this officer may have dack a personal item of their ancestor .
