My advice..don't worry so much about it being a channel, just work on what you want to work while describing what you're doing and why. That would give the most organic experience in my opinion. You can tell when someone isn't 100% into what they're doing. Your doing great!
Hi Dan, dont give up on your audience of builders whether scratch, kit, ARF, composite, balsa, foam, and repairs. There are lot of us out there enjoying your channel. Cheers.
Glad to hear that you're going to build a FliteTest model. I scratch built their Simple Scout from plans and it's my 'fun plane' that I throw in the car at a moments notice to go fly. So much fun, and without the fear of crashing a plane that you've spent a large portion of your life building.
Im kind of excited to build this one, although I need to watch their build video again. This foam board needs to be manipulated and stretched a bit to get the proper curves in it. And the F4U is a curvy and round mother.
Oh man............thats the way i take this hobby.Doing something to a plane and than leave it for month........grabbing the next Project and so on........lol.I wish you the very best for life and allways enough sparetime for the hobby.Thank you very much for your videos......best regards from germany
I subscribed to your channel shortly after your mother did; not sure if she is building but I have been working on a few things. I don't subscribe to RUclips channels unless the program can add to my enjoyment of our hobby. So many on line treat their channel as trying to be so sophisticated that they loose me. Your channel is like having a visit from a friend and of course there is Kitty. I'm delighted to hear of the program shift and we will be enjoying your projects as you finish your planes. After an absence away from the hobby for 30 years I have had to do a lot of catching up with the newer equipment and learning to fly again. So thanks for taking the time to continue with the channel you have been missed. I'm sure that the shows takes a great deal of your time and expense for video equipment, and the time you could be spending with your family or on the field, so it does't go unnoticed. I have built and fly an flown a few of the Flite Test planes, it's what got me back into the hobby. 350.00 Canadian all in got me back in the air. :) Be proud of the work that you are doing for the hobby. I live in a small town and I'm the only flyer in my area now, there used to be 20 of us most have past on.(I'm hoping to change that) So my resources for knowledge have been the internet and trial and error, Im being long winded.... Should have just said; SO GLAD YOUR BACK ! I love your channel and your honest approach ..... ! Take care of Kitty.
Trixie is doing fine. Its funny because as I am shooting, I can't see what she is doing on her stool behind me, so when Im editing is often the first time I can see her back there. She does like to show up when I have the camera rolling. Glad to hear you are back into the hobby. Its a lot of fun, and there are so many new things... I have been doing this for over 30 years now, so if thats where you got out... Holy cow things have changed. Back then a 60 sized airplane was huge. The radios were crappy and electric... What using nicads? No way. Yep lots of options now. Thanks for the kind words...
Dan I just want to say ‘THANKS’. I’d love to do a scratch build and I loved the way you laid things out and brought us along. There is a lot to learn and you are a great teacher. I also like your shop cat/foreman too. Please make more vids soon, I am binging through them all. 😊👍
Glad to see your getting motivated I'm looking forward to your building videos I build a lot of scratch build models mostly out of foam board mainly to keep the cost down, Thanks for sharing
Understand the slow pace of building when trying to produce videos. I started a RUclips vid build log of a vintage RPM Barn Stormer 25S and it has taken me months to complete. Striking a balance between building, flying, rc community participation and everything else in life is a challenge. Good luck with the channel changes and looking forward to seeing your other projects!
Hi Dan great to see you!! And I'm looking forward to seeing what comes up on your bench. Wishing you well and happy flying. By the way congratulations on semi retirement!!
Take things at your own pace, I have been enjoying watching this series/you. I have just started in the flying side of the rc hobby (been racing cars for years), and am looking to build a balsa plane soon. I do build plastic models, been doing that for almost my entire life. With that hobby, I work on 2-8+ kits at a time, although there is some that I prioritize. Some I want to be show pieces, and others are for fun, but it is great to be able to have at lease a few projects going on as it is refreshing to the mind to set one aside for a while. Anyways, what I am getting at, enjoy things in a way that will make you happy, if a break is needed, take a break. Watching the channel is like being at the flying field, rc track, model club, etc. We get to see someone sharing their enjoyment of the hobby, while also chatting about the hobby.
Thank you for the encouragement. I really think that having more time, and introducing the other planes is going to be great. I'm pretty excited about this.
Hey Dan---- Good to see you back at it! Congrats on the semi- retirement. I think your idea is great and look forward to picking up some new tricks. I'll also be looking forward to catching up with you at the field.
I too have multiple projects and get stuck as well. I’m working around a Bobcat sailplane I’m working on. The only thing that survived was the fuselage. I now have a center wing (scratch built with a spoiler) and a bell rank elevator.
Hi Dan 👋 Glad to see another video !! I look forward to where the channel is heading and learning bits and pieces from you. Look forward to the next one 😄 Have a good one mate QLD Australia 🤙🤙
G'day, Dan, from the other side of the globe. I've missed your vids for a while, so great to see your back. I like your laid back style of presentation, easy to follow, no preconceptions. Your techniques for building, confirm for me that I must be doing something right, having repaired some of my models after crashes, - some sections having to be rebuilt from scratch. I've got a couple of kits to build, will get around to it some time. Look forward to your next instalment.
I've been following your channel, and like the style you present in. I'm restoring an old Precedent T180, and have picked up a lot of tips from your series. Keep it going!
You can use the crock pot to clean your engines, just add some antifreeze and cook away the castor. Wife will love you I promise..lol i know first hand oops!!
Dan, I love this video, a man after my own heart, but wives and girlfriends hate it. I have a few storage units I will take the 5th on the real number but I had to move a couple years ago and most of my planes are still in so cal and I now live in northern Idaho so I have some here to work on in a makeshift room and garage but winter's are cold you get the drift and are definitely not alone. Do you know how many really nice planes I could have now with the rent I have paid over the years? Don't go to estate sales knowing that the family was a rc modeler. Twice I did that. You know what happens after that. I am going next month to make my second trip. More to come. I have no regrets at all because I love this hobby!!!
How does that saying go? My Wife/girlfriend said if you go fishing I’m packing up and leaving…. Boy am I gonna miss her. Lot of life lessons in your comment. So many planes so little time. Where are you? Kellogg? I bought my truck up there 8 years ago.
Realy great collection but you can ONLY fly one at a time And to get the best out of any Model and fly it to perfection Then you need to stay with that aircraft. Then move on to the next project. A builder and Flyer for 40 yesrs.
Even a 10 min video on what you’re doing will work. I love learning new techniques.
My advice..don't worry so much about it being a channel, just work on what you want to work while describing what you're doing and why. That would give the most organic experience in my opinion. You can tell when someone isn't 100% into what they're doing.

Dan great to see you back! Don't leave it so long next time!
Looking forward to the future videos! Good plan.

Feel your pain with "shared work space "
Glad to see your still building , and "Recording Video " Keep the Hobby Alive

We had a pretty good group show up spontaneously last Saturday. Hoping to have a strong finish to summer with lots of flying.
Now that you are semi-retired, you'll have more time to use the crock-pot and the vacuum. :-)
Its a constant flow of repair jobs sometimes.
I too have multiple projects and get stuck as well. I’m working around a Bobcat sailplane I’m working on. The only thing that survived was the fuselage. I now have a center wing (scratch built with a spoiler) and a bell rank elevator.

That’s funny. Is anti freeze still as poisonous as it used to be? Be careful
I might share a photo of my stash or I might not. Not here for sure.

a rectal scanner ... say what ... thought this was supposed to be a scratch build of an rc plane not an alien abduction lol
Now that’s funny!!!!
