  • "Mother-in-Law Demanded $100K at My Wedding, On refusal, he threw champagne in my face, But When...
At what was supposed to be the happiest moment of my life-my engagement party-everything took a dramatic turn. In front of all our family and friends, my future mother-in-law cruelly mocked me, demanding $100k if I wanted to marry her son. As if that wasn't humiliating enough, my fiancé stood there and laughed when she threw champagne in my face. But I wasn’t going to let anyone disrespect me like that. In that moment, I realized my worth, turned to my fiancé, and calmly said the words that would change everything: “You’re fired.” Watch how this shocking event unfolded and how I took control of my future in the most unexpected way.

In the first time I heard this story Megan was called Kelly and mom was actually called mommy. I don’t know why a grown man would say “mommy says” make a woman he is dating feel like she is poor just because she doesn’t tell you that she is a president when in fact if you are going to date someone treat them from respect not looking down on them in such a horrible manner.

I called my mother "Ma" until the day she died. It never occurred to me to call her anything else. Well...beginning in my 50s, I did occasionally call her "Mommy" or "Mommy Dearest", just to get 'the look' which was quickly followed with laughter, from both of us. Idk, to me, Mother is just too formal, distant, maybe even cold. Ma, Mum, Mama, etc., indicate warmth and affection. Interesting how I will always capitalize the affectionate Ma, but will never do that with the formal mother.

I called my mother until the day she died. I'm 65 and still think of all the memories with me calling her Mom.

I called my mother Mama until the day she died and still call her that when I refer to her. I'm from the south so that's normal. I would never disrespect her by calling her by her name. Same for my father he was Daddy and I'm almost 64. I never called her mommie because she always said babies use that word not grown ass women.

Mo mom would always be “mom” no matter what my age(81.) I miss her terribly and “dad” too. Now if he called her “mommy,” well…..😮

What should Ryan call his mother? Megan? All my siblings and I all call our mother Mom, and we are all over 50.

Ryan has not grown up yet, clinging to his mother's hand? His actions during the dates were red flags. Why would you throw champagne in someone's face no matter the situation.

Mom or Momma. Mommie is only for a child. I called my mother Mom until I lost her when she was 81.

I, like many, have taken issue with your problem with calling your mother “Mom” after 50… What do you call her then? Why would you change what you call her? I can see going from Mommy to Mom when you’re an adolescent, but besides that… I’m in my 60’s and my mom passed away in 2023 at the age of 93. She remained Mom until the end. Still do refer to her that way.

We did not need the backstory at all, that dragged everything down and was not even interesting to say the least. There was nothing even interesting about the first part of the story either. All we heard was the MIL snapping at her future DIL and then the FDIL getting champagne thrown at her and then the backstory that was the full length of the story and nothing to connect it to why everything happened and then the aftermath of what happened.
Two thumbs down to this story.

Started well then you spoilt it by telling all the back story that is boring and not really relative
