    just FYI, the nim store recommended in this video is complete tourist garbage. But I found an indigenous handmade store with amazing stuff for a great prices called Gigantes. The smoothie shop recommended in this video was great though.

    The Pacaya Volcano was no joke either but it wasn't as long and parts of it were very steep but not the entire way.
    Glad you loved Antigua!

    Planning to go this September, any thoughts on the weather of Guatemala during September ? Is it fairly rainy? Is it worth it?

    Which shuttle company did you use ?

    • @explorinwithlaurin
      @explorinwithlaurin  11 месяцев назад

      Our Hiking Tour Operator (Trek Guatemala) handled the majority of our transportation. We booked a private van using Viator to get from Guatemala city to Antigua on arrival into the country.
      Hope this helps!

    How nice the video was, it would be nice if you could say how much you spent in dollars, it was probably very economical, come back soon, we Guatemalans love those who like our land, they will always be welcome, and if you need help, any Chapin will be ready to help you❤

      so we went in May, which was during the rainy season, so it was overcast most of the time. It made it cooler, but it did obstruct some of the views!

    I planning to do this hike in a couple weeks. Do you recommend hiking boots or trail runners okay? I typically wear trail runners but keep reading online that I should have ankle protection….

    • @explorinwithlaurin
      @explorinwithlaurin  Год назад

      You could probably get away with either but it is steep with a lot of loose gravel in parts and volcanic ash in others! The high tops may also help keep all that out of your shoes 🤔but we always advise hiking in shoes your know well rather than setting out for an overnight in something you haven’t tested!

    Do they speak good English in Guatemala?

    • @explorinwithlaurin
      @explorinwithlaurin  6 месяцев назад +4

      Hello 👋 - most people spoke pretty good english. We also know a (tiny) bit of spanish which helps. We also use google translate as needed to get around.
      Hope this helps!

    i spent a month there in 2009 spanish school. nobody was going up the Agua Volcano, but my host told us stories of spending a night up there in her youth. In 2009 you could go but really only if you hired an armed guard becuase otherwise you'd just get picked off by bandits back then. Maybe Antigua is safer today. It wasn't so safe 15 years ago, and the capital was very dangerous. they were murdering bus drivers every month

      Interesting! When we were antigua - we had no issues - and lots of travelers around town.

      @@explorinwithlaurin could be. The only good source for the actual security situation is the State Department. They tell a different story than clueless tourists who travel where state department folks are not allowed for security reasons. Colombia is basically off limits. Acts of violence in latin america are very random but horrible when they occur. Kidnapping for ransom is easy money
