I stumbled on this channel for help sharpening a v gouge. Your work is inspirational, motivational and enjoyable to watch. I too have a channel (mostly fishing and seafood but do have some sculptural and art projects). The camera angles, lighting and editing of your movies... Brilliant! Just subscribed. Thanks for the content.😁
Your skill is just amazing to watch. I enjoy watching you carve almost as much as I'm learning to enjoy carving myself. It is a great "stress reliever"! Though I think the desire was probably always there way back somewhere, I already had the love of music and made my living that way, but I'm now able to have a bit more time to try this, and it's all your fault lol! You just make it look so easy, but then, that is the sign of a really great artist. They make it look easy.
Hey Mary, I'm sitting here watching the video and every so often I hear a puff of air removing a chip or dust. And I think, what if she got a penny for every time she puffed away a chip, (since you started learning) , how much money would that be? Heh, Just a little something to make you smile. This project came out stunning. You trully have a gift and a love for what you do. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
+billfromelma Thanks! A penny for every puff - wow! I could purchase that expensive peanut butter! Do you know what? I'd still be carving for a living :)
I notice you roll the v chisel outward when you get to the end of a cut. Looks like a really smart technique. Thanks. Beautiful work and videos. I'd love to see you carve a lion ball & claw. (Ball & paw?)
+confiscator Thanks! Check out my online school - I have a lesson on repairing one and also on how to carve the Philadelphia ball and claw. www.marymaycarving.com/carvingschool

+confiscator Sometimes I don't even notice those subtle movements. But yes, it helps to finish the cut nicely.
