Farmlands my friend. The middle of the country isn’t just flyover states. We get a huge portion of our food from there. Also, just because one lives in tornado alley, doesn’t mean they are always in danger. EF4 and EF5 tornadoes aren’t all that common. And most tornadoes that do form, typically just form, live and die in large wide open areas. In the last 73 years, only 59 EF5’s have happened. That’s less than one per year. And an average of 8 EF4’s per year. Yes. People lose their homes. They have insurance for that. People die. It’s just not as common as you think. 1,200 tornadoes a year, and an average of 80 deaths. You’re more likely to die in a car wreck.
But isn't there another way to build structures that can withstand tornados? Build into the ground more with different materials than wood and sheetrock. Circular buildings? I'm not an engineer but someone out there know how to do this I'm sure.

3 tornados missed us yesterday by 15 miles one by 10 miles. Winterset iowa didnt need another 2022 f4 tornado. We got lucky.
I remember that I'm over by badger creek. It was about 200 yards away from the house. And about 6 years ago another one missed us by about a mile!
