Since discovering Hua Chenyu's music, I’ve realized just how deeply I can love music. Before, I listened to music, but I wasn’t truly passionate about it. However, after hearing Hua’s songs, I began to feel the vivid stories and paintings within each one. The more I follow him, the more I admire him, though I also feel a sense of sadness. He invests so much of his time and money into creating flawless albums and concerts, yet he doesn’t promote them online. Worse still, some malicious competitors distort and undermine his work. If you take a deeper look at his albums-the song choices, the circumstances of their creation, and the lyrical content-you’ll discover the subtle brilliance in all of it. His songs are drawn from his own experiences, which makes it even more heartbreaking when he sings about sorrowful emotions. Attending his concert was a bit of a challenge due to ticket availability and time constraints, but I was fortunate enough to attend his "sunrise concert". I truly feel blessed to live in the same era as him.

Although it was just an outer area ticket and I couldn’t enter the main stage, being able to enjoy the live performance and watch the sunrise made me truly happy. At the moment the sun rose and the new song section was added-even though I didn’t understand the meaning of that added part-I was moved to tears.🥹

I really like his version of 'Dear Friend' , but anything from HuaHua is worth listening to, and his concerts look amazing, I've watched a few on yt and they just blow me away each time, I also recommend 'Cancer' it's visceral Unfortunately you can't seem to find the original video with eng subs anymore, you just have videos of other reactors watching it (it's quite an old clip) the same goes for the song 'I'm not good looking but I'm gentle' another great cover/performance

I would suggest that next time you do some of his covers (which can actually be considered as originals the way he makes a song his own) like "Child", "I am what I am", "flammable and explosive" (from Singer 2018), Nanping Evening Bells, Drinking Alone... etc... do not ignore his covers, you would really miss something GREAT.

Johnny, you're right that he is very involved in the arrangement of his music with Zheng Nan (Bernard Zheng) who once said in an interview that the demos Hua Hua submitted to him were usually near complete. Zheng Nan, as the person credited for arrangement of most of Hua Hua's work is himself a talented musician. They both work very closely and Zheng Nan played the role of music director for Hua's 2024 concerts, if I'm not wrong. Hua Hua has said in an interview back in 2015 or 2016 (I've forgotten which year) that he considered his voice as just another instrument. After being exposed to Chinese songs these few years, I've realised that most of them don't pay much attention to melodies of the music and instrument arrangement. They mainly focus on melodies from the vocal singing while the music is just...sigh... I don't know much about music theory or music at all, but that's just my take on it. Cheers again to both of you and to the Martians.

In the broadcast, there was a casual comment about how it is hard to pin point Huahua's genre but that should not be taken as him not having his own style. The uniquessness of Huahua is precisely that his music is not confined or determined by the genre. He chooses the genre/style depending on what he wants to express. The different genre each has ceratin character or quality that is best suited for certain mood or sentiments, or type of expression. Like a painter, he carefully selects these qualities to insert into his piece of music to enhance what he wants to say. Hence, his music is rich and exciting. Huahua does not just write a melody for a song. He writes it like a symphonie. More often than not, he records his own voice as the chorus or complementary sound he needs for the music, and he brings in the stage design, the performance, and the costume as well. Many songs today are only about 2 minutes long. Huahua's music is usually over 5 minutes long. As a piece of music that is not just focused on a melody, it absolutely needs the time for it to be complete. Huahua is way more than just someone who has a great voice and sings beautifully. Even if someone can sing and has a beautiful voice, it makes it impossible for this person to replicate Huahua's pieces of music. It'll never be anywhere near the original. This makes Huahua an exceptional artist, with his own complete signature, like Van Gogh, like David Bowie. ❤

I'm from Britain. Gave up on British and American mainstream music, as it's too Hip Hop, Rap, Helium voiced girly for me. I need Rock Bands. But it seems Music Producers/Simon Cowell can't cope with the Testosterone of one Rock band member, never mind, four or five macho men. Not saying Hua Hua is macho. 😉 But, his Composing, singing and personality is so charismatic that I don't mind it's not in English.
Hi, around the 11:30 mark when HuaHua was talking about "I really want to love this world," he said "它" which means "it," he was actually referring to the song, not himself. In Chinese He/She/It or 他／她／它 have different writing but they all pronunced the same, and therefore the mistranslation on the eng subtitles. Anyway, thanks for your reaction, love your videos on HuaHua.
I m so proud to be his Martian. He has taught in some variety show before that human voice is just like another instrument in a piece of song, it should blend in and not stand out from the band.
He said that Sacred Tree and Descending(Arrival) are a pair of twins - 1 talks about environment "devastation" and the other is about "new life" after the demolition. Descending uses traditional Chinese chords.
Fun fact the main melody of Ship of Theseus was produced literally live on-the-spot one afternoon during his 2021 concert when he had a impromptu 'song writing' session with his guitarist on stage. 😂 He turned it into what it is now and debut it only this year. He also wrote a beautiful polyphony tune and we Martians have mastered that other part to sing alongside with him during the concert!
The song you heard in the interview (rehearsal room) is a snippet of the song Aliens. It is an amazing song. I also recommend his Healing trilogy, Flower in a small town, Jackdaw Boy, Qi Tian, Child, When the whole world forgets me ( Changsha), Lucky as you, Must be happy, The Mayfly (string arrangement) ..... 😊🤗

Woah, Hua Chenyu is an artiste! More than a good singer, his creativity and deep thoughts are worth being praised! This aside, I was surprised by your mentioning Zhou Shen at the end. I am new to this channel and honestly I have been longly hesitated to say what I am gonna say coz I don’t want to be considered as a hater…However, I believe all communication in a honest and polite way should be allowed. Do you know that he pretended to play guitar in a performance? This is the video ruclips.net/video/9bQCcbWorCg/видео.html. I mean, it doesn’t matter if a singer does’t know playing guitar, but he can’t cheat on audience! And this is only one example! I have been always taught that singing is more than vocal skills and music is beyond all techniques. The artists should respect the music and their audience! That’s why today, as a lover of music, not a fan of hater of whoever, I have to point this out, especially when you guys, musicians I highly value, mentioned him in a reaction video of Hua Chenyu. But I can also understand why she doesn’t like seeing Hua and Zhou being mentioned together because on many platforms in China, Zhou’s fans often use false information to attack other singers. so I can completely understand her feelings. As you said, Hua is a professional, unique and creative artist, while Zhou’s profession is being a singer. Let one soar in the sky, while the other learns to stay grounded without spreading false news to attack others.

In the broadcast, there was a casual comment about how it is hard to pin point Huahua's genre but that should not be taken as him not having his own style. The uniquessness of Huahua is precisely that his music is not confined or determined by the genre. He chooses the genre/style depending on what he wants to express. The different genre each has ceratin character or quality that is best suited for certain mood or sentiments, or type of expression. Like a painter, he carefully selects these qualities to insert into his piece of music to enhance what he wants to say. Hence, his music is rich and exciting. Huahua does not just write a melody for a song. He writes it like a symphonie. More often than not, he records his own voice as the chorus or complementary sound he needs for the music, and he brings in the stage design, the performance, and the costume as well. Many songs today are only about 2 minutes long. Huahua's music is usually over 5 minutes long. As a piece of music that is not just focused on a melody, it absolutely needs the time for it to be complete. Huahua is way more than just someone who has a great voice and sings beautifully. Even if someone can sing and has a beautiful voice, it makes it impossible for this person to replicate Huahua's pieces of music. It'll never be anywhere near the original. This makes Huahua an exceptional artist, with his own complete signature, like Van Gogh, like David Bowie. ❤

I'm from Britain. Gave up on British and American mainstream music, as it's too Hip Hop, Rap, Helium voiced girly for me. I need Rock Bands. But it seems Music Producers/Simon Cowell can't cope with the Testosterone of one Rock band member, never mind, four or five macho men.
Not saying Hua Hua is macho. 😉 But, his Composing, singing and personality is so charismatic that I don't mind it's not in English.

Hi, around the 11:30 mark when HuaHua was talking about "I really want to love this world," he said "它" which means "it," he was actually referring to the song, not himself. In Chinese He/She/It or 他／她／它 have different writing but they all pronunced the same, and therefore the mistranslation on the eng subtitles. Anyway, thanks for your reaction, love your videos on HuaHua.

I m so proud to be his Martian. He has taught in some variety show before that human voice is just like another instrument in a piece of song, it should blend in and not stand out from the band.
He said that Sacred Tree and Descending(Arrival) are a pair of twins - 1 talks about environment "devastation" and the other is about "new life" after the demolition. Descending uses traditional Chinese chords.
Salt of the Earth was his composition in 2015, its his conversation with God about the environment we live in now.
Fun fact the main melody of Ship of Theseus was produced literally live on-the-spot one afternoon during his 2021 concert when he had a impromptu 'song writing' session with his guitarist on stage. 😂 He turned it into what it is now and debut it only this year. He also wrote a beautiful polyphony tune and we Martians have mastered that other part to sing alongside with him during the concert!

Woah, Hua Chenyu is an artiste! More than a good singer, his creativity and deep thoughts are worth being praised! This aside, I was surprised by your mentioning Zhou Shen at the end. I am new to this channel and honestly I have been longly hesitated to say what I am gonna say coz I don’t want to be considered as a hater…However, I believe all communication in a honest and polite way should be allowed. Do you know that he pretended to play guitar in a performance? This is the video ruclips.net/video/9bQCcbWorCg/видео.html. I mean, it doesn’t matter if a singer does’t know playing guitar, but he can’t cheat on audience! And this is only one example! I have been always taught that singing is more than vocal skills and music is beyond all techniques. The artists should respect the music and their audience! If we accept this kind of behavior it would be unfair to all those people working hard and staying true. That’s why today, as a lover of music, not a fan of hater of whoever, I have to point this out, especially when you guys, musicians I highly value, mentioned him in a reaction video of Hua Chenyu. Sure, this being said, I understand you may just appreciate his voice and will keep reacting on him, I have absolutely no problem with that. Everyone has his/her own taste after all.

Yes, we don’t need to get upset; Martians don’t make comparisons. Hua said everything we do should come from kindness and sincerity. But I can also understand why she doesn’t like seeing Hua and Zhou being mentioned together because on many platforms in China, Zhou’s fans often use false information to attack other singers.
