- This is the "Original" version of this classic Chicago house track before Frankie Knuckles re-released it under his monicker. Slightly rawer version than the Knuckles version. A piece of Chicago House history on Persona records JP222 1986.

This DJ on a House documentary considered this the first House track. Now im here listening to this masterpiece
Would you all believe I actually have this in my hands now from back then 1983…. House music until I die. I now have my son doing a report along with the record in school today.
Truly bizarre and beautiful all at the same time. Cold, warm, classic, and futuristic all rolled into one. Not being able to tell if it’s a dude or a chick on vocals, and the list goes on. A true CLASSIC
Jamie is most certainly a guy, he originally wrote this as a poem to either, his then-girlfriend or a woman called Lisa, I've heard both stories but am not sure which is true. :)
@@lebafo Principle's song is *about* a woman called Lisa, but early versions also featured vocals by a woman called Adrienne Jette. The verses in this version and the one on Trax are recognisably sung by Principle. I think Jette did the "I need your love" double-tracked backing vocals in the chorus.
@@lebafo it's true
History tells a tale that Jamie Principle recorded this song in 1983 and Frankie "borrowed" it in 1987.
Jamie came to Knuckles and asked him to work on his tracks. FACT. No stealing involved. They used Knuckles name on the track to get recognition, more sales etc.

First played in the clubs in Chicago in 1984. No label wanted then to release it. As Jamie said in an interview, it wasn't what the were looking for!! But then was one of the biggest hit in the clubs because it was a totaly different sound of what people used to hear until then! Nice post!
Dj Noah GR This isn't even the first version is it? I've heard that demos were foating around back then
+Dj Noah GR Yeah - I don't think he was even a DJ, they were really creating house before this.
This tape was definitely circling around Chicago in 84, 85. In fact as a freshman at Southern Illinois University if you didn't have that tape you knew someone who had it and you begged them to to make you a copy.
This always takes me back to my years in high school, & to the old clubs we were in: THE HUMMINGBIRD, THE BISMARCK PAVILION, HEROES, THE CLIQUE, THE TASTE, THE MUZIK BOX, THE PARTIES AT LEO'S, & MENDEL, ETC. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
THE CRAZIEST & BEST THING IS: WE WENT TO SCHOOL WITH A LOT OF THESE LEGENDS!!!!
FACTS. Looked up this song watch Deon Cole comedy special
Yep, I spoke to Jamie just a few minutes ago
The first time I heard this song was at the candy store formerly known as the playground on Michigan ave in Chicago when Farley was mixing, I fell in love with it! House for life
The first person to remix this track was a a young 18 year old kid. This kid met Jamie at a mall once and they talked about music. Jamie played this song for this kid and the kid asked Jamie if he could remix it and he said yes. This remixes the song reel-to-reel and takes to Frankie. Frankie played the this kids' remix on reel-to-reel for a whole year before Frankie re-records the track professionally.
wow! awesome! music was best in world in chicago during 1980s, now i can see why, these tunes are more popular than ever today. Back to old skool tunes, back to basics, music from 2000's lost its way
"Your love" has been my favorite house track for the past 3 years. I never knew Jamie principle originally made this until I've finally done research. It's wonderful learning new things everyday
Don't know how i ended up here but i'm glad i did
regardless of which is better version, the BASSLINE IS TRULY A CLASSIC!!
timeless..............
the bassline is sampled from "Feels Good" by Electra (1982).

By faaaaaaar the best version in its original release.
Anyone who loves dance should praise this!
I was searching for a different song and accidentally stumbled upon this song. It's amazing.
THIS BE THE PRINCIPLES OF DOPE,DANCE MUSIC Y’ALL
this should have millions of plays.
YES, THIS IS THE ONLY VERSION AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED, STILL LOVE IT NOW, IVE GOT ONE AND BLAST LOUD, GET LOST IN IT, SO SIMPLE BUT SO PERFECT, GOTTA BE LOUD AND DANCE, LOVE IT FOREVER!!!
Brings back a lot of memories of the underground club scene late 80’s & Ibiza
This is BAAAAADD!! I have heard a lot of music, and try to listen to just about everything, and this just kills me. Something about this early house music that gets you on a different level from everything else that's out there. Wish we could go back.
I was just watching the documentary "The History of House Music", and just had to find the original un released version of this track!
Thanks a lot for uploading it!
Same here! I was there when house took over..
I bet it didn't say this was the first house record 1973

Hey thanks for putting this on here. This is my favorite. I always use this as a test for someone that says they are from Chicago. I play this song and watch their reaction. If they don't say 'HEY!!!!' then they fail the test.
This was q big hit round the world so many people would say "hey"
@@uv77mc85 This song is an instant classic and will always be fire.
We always loved Jamie, we was listening to 'Baby wants to ride' an all sorts before Frankie got involved, Frankie listened to toons then said hey I hear this an I hear that then did something else with the music, we owe a lot too both, period.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍❤️
IMMORTAL LOVE.....IMMORTAL
I had this when it came out. Was so pissed when it got stolen. Still am. Used to listen to it over and over and over. Love the grove.
I love this song..!!!
best version
Never heard this before. Absolutely magnificent!
This is the 1986 remix by "Mark "Hot Rod" Trollan" of the 1984 original version, very rare to find... the commercial and most well know version was released at the end of 1987 and was remixed by Frankie Knuckles for Trax Record. Now is clear?
Italo Disco was the middle ground for House Music
clearly, this track is also influenced by British synth-pop as well..

But seriously though this has got to be one of the best tracks ever for those who know what's up with the underground
big big tune.always gets my feet tapping.
I was thinking how much Sunsets by The Midnight sounds so much like this iconic beginning of a song.
this is the best version. it is a brilliant track
I lost myself listening to this. It took me to a place I needed to go.
This tune has signed a before and an after in house's history
SHITMAN WHY OH WHY WAS TRERE SO MUCH FAB MUSIC BACK IN THE DAY.NOW THOSE DAYS ARE A DISTANT MEMORY IM SO SAD 😞
This song was so sensuous & hypnotic especially if u were dancing with somebody who could go n2 the trance of this song. It was like making ❤️ on the floor seriously. 🙏 Frankie the warehouse & the power plant. Pure music & magic
wow, I always heard there was an original version without frankie...I thought it was lost and never before thought to check this might be on here. Thanks for posting
ok, after reading the comments, I realise this still might not be the original. fuck sake. I wanna hear the tune frankie played for a year before getting involved... I dunno, maybe this was it? or maybe he hammered a remix (ie this tune?) or maybe there is the original original I still haven't fucking heard?
@@njclondon2009 i doubt anyone would find that “version”, as frankie re-recorded the remix he was given to by some kid given to jamie. i’m sure knuckles would’ve rather you just heard these two versions anyways
I love this version more than the one Frankie released on Trax Records.
Same and I been looking for this one cos I remembered I used to have this one back in day but then the Frankie version over took it.
@@aestheticsbyjasmine940 You also get more of the female (Adrienne Jette) vocals and more of Jamie's vocals in this version.
I found out that the original of these bass synths are from Electra Feat Tara Butler - Feels Good (Dub) (1982)
Listen, and you'll witness it ;)
👍 Thanks ,just checked it out👍

He appears on the new Gorillaz album! :)
Check out the four tracks he released on Cajual (released as Green Velvet presents Jamie Principle) or his single with Aeroplane or his single as part of 312 with Felix Da Housecat and Vince Lawrence all from the last ten years but yeah wish he was doing more.
I didn't find this version until today, I used to think the Frankie Knuckles version was the only one, until after I watched Pump Up The Volume, that it was OF COURSE a demo version back in 1984, Nevertheless, this version is one of the best house songs I've heard in all the 16 years of my life. People really need to hear this song today. It's just amazing.
the first House song! origin of all of my favorite bands
DJ ToKyO ...Jessie Saunders On and On was the first House track 1984
Nope. Principle ´s waiting for my angel was clearly an early track ranged under italodisco/hi-nrg style back in 1983. Saunders’ On and on was different, more personal, something that prefigured what was called two-three years later as acid-house music.
@@neilmurray4905 Technically, you could say that “ON” the Italo disco track that Jessie based “On and On” on, is the first house track…
@@jnnx what is the name of the song that Jessie's On and ON is based on?

This is such a great track!!!! I use to mix this with other classics, it always woke up my mix .Real house music,AWESOME AS CAN BE !!!

This is a TIMELESS CLASSIC.
So many different versions of this song were made.
All in different keys.
Some have clearer vocals.
Others have harder hitting music, but it's kind of drowning the vocals.
Too bad there was never one released with hard hitting music & the clearer vocals.
I liked the version better.
All the version are incredible
Top Man for putting this up Chicagowax, most don't realise about the original that is Jamie Priciple.

This may be the original vinyl release, but it's not the first version. Jamie Principle has his original demo version, and it's possible that Ron Hardy also made an edit that was passed around on mixtapes too, both before this was brought out.
thanks for posting this one brings me back like 20years ago

A thought to the godfather of the House sound. R.I.P. Franky Knuckles. Here at Jamie Principle, his menthor.
Thanks Chicagowax this is my baby here!

wow ! never heard this version before . Amazing :-)
simple amazing!
I believe it was made in the USA. Sounds very deep detroit old school style. Sounds like when the techno guys wanted to cool down with some piano and lyrics, so there they were with this kind of productions. So beatiful...
I invite you to listen to Juan Atkins - Techno city.
Best from Majorca.
Detroit? LOL no this was Chicago, south side. This is the original. I had the album when it came out. I am sad I no longer have it.

@Chicagowax excellent upload :)
OH JAMIE!!!! RIGHTEOUS!!!!
everyone needs to get over the " he stole it " thing, just look through the history of Dance music, everything has been "Sampled" or re-edited sometimes worse sometimes better, we all love a track which contains something we have heard before wether its a vocal, the riff or the ever sampled AMEN break..... btw I don't see anyone slagging the source for using it
Not really...there are still copyright and intellectual property issues that are relevant with any type of art. People have the right to control their own art. When it is your bread and butter it is not as simple as "get over it."
False. Mr Fingers Can You Feel It/ Amnesia album has no such occurrences

Brilliant tune, so so good. I'm only 23 myself but am addicted to all sorts of EDM, and the history, DJ and producers that made it all happen and how music progressed. This is awesome everytime I hear it, it's got more feeling than the new stuff.
I'm just a bit confused about all the comments, wanting some clarification, is this the Original that Jamie recorded in his bedroom/basement on a tape or is this the first version that was remixed and released by Frankie?
Original release by Jamie Principal, got released again by frankie knuckles that was slightly edited. Imo, this version is better
No this is the first version to be released on vinyl. The original version that was recorded on tape I have never heard before. This version was remixed by someone called Mark "Hot Rod" Trollen and was released in 1986 on Persona Records. The Frankie Knuckles version/remix was released in 1987 on Trax Records
Yessss

Amazing, hypnotic sound!…I love it ❤
Thanks ! I was looking for this, and I am so glad I found it ! Frankie Knuckles did a good job with the remix, but this version stands on it's own.
