Its been a while but Barry is back and this time he has decided to leave the samples firmly in the crates. Barry takes full advantage of the amazingly realistic plug in sampled instruments and the insane Midi Extracting options available nowadays in modern DAWs to craft a real winner
Luckily for everyone, Barry reveals his secret sorcery in an accompanying Barry's School of Beats episode.
In the episode Barry gives detailed instructions on how to sample breaks dug from the crates but avoid any kind of legal implications as what you are left with has been totally transformed and completely sample free!!!
For this track Barry uses the swinging groove shuffle of The Sillouttes Fonky first Drum Break and some wonderful piano chords courtesy of 70s jazz funker David Sanborn. He then proceeds to apply the midi to a selection of fantastic multi Sampled plug in instruments.
In no particular order the software instruments used are...
XLN Audios Addictive Drums,
The Gentleman upright piano, Scarbee M Bass, Session Horns Pro and Kontakt's Bassoon and French oboe all taken from NI Komplete 11.
Pure Jazz vibes by Orange Tree Samples
And if all this isn't exciting enough this track will be featured on the upcoming full length Long Player 'The 2 Sides of Barry' where we get to enjoy an A side of fully sampled and rather naughty beats and a B side of totally sample free and holier than thou beats. keep posted and subscribed for more info on that one. Don't leave it so long next time, both new vids are banging.
Barry, keep up with the behind the beat videos and you'll have 250 000 subs by the end of 2019. Just keep engaging your subscribers on Instagram, Twitter and RUclips. Your beats will spread far and wide. You have the winning combination...dope beats and a really cool British quirkiness. We love you man !
Another brilliant piece of music. Thank you Sir!
Brev...just found out about your channel. Crazy respect. Keep doin what you doin
Man this is next level ! Chops and drums are super dope, and when that bass line comes in, jeheeze. Excellent beat, congrats. Love the video too. Incredible.
Thanks BB, I've just popped over to band camp to buy a couple, and left you a little tip to help out with the bargain bin hunting. Good luck with the second hand vinyl you're a star
Nice .welcome back
Reminds me of Beatnuts but slower. VERY COOL!!! Respect! *Rap hands and B-boy pose*

Keep the game tight, Walter Cronkrite.
Love this... now, where's my inhaler...
DOOOOOOOOOPE
Geddon my handsome
You make a living doing this? You deserve a metal for this.
Unfortunately not Martin. maybe one day
Thanks for the kind words of support though
Sounds like one of those Fat Gums beats, I really like it.
Quick quest:
How do you feel that Boom Bap beats are coming back and trap beaats are on their way out?
and do you think this is because of the lofi hip hop boom on youtube has something to do with this?
Thanks for the props man :-) Im not a massive fan of the term Boom Bap. I like to call the music I make 'New Bap' as it uses the principles of Boom Bap style Hip Hop i.e dope Samples but brings it into the present day with progressive drum and music programming. I don't really know whether Trap style beats are on the wain but I do think people must be bored of the 808 drum sounds by now.
@@Sispex "New Bap" I like that !! I'm going to use that when people say "what kind of beats you make?"
I haven't really got to much of a problem with the 808 kit,However I feel it lacks a soul and can sound like a beat made by a metronome.
I much prefer that Texas pimp sound? I'm not sure what it's called but the Trap drum arrangement over a 70's funk sample kind of what Rittz did in "aftermorning "
That Pimp C / UKG kind of feel...
But keep doing your thing because these are the best tuition videos on RUclips (mainly because I feel other channels sound like their trying to sell me VST's or online courses)
Si Spex that is incredible mate , you are the funkiest mother
Cute as a button
Whats happening Barry, what are the rules with your beats? creative commons?
no rules! Well apart from just do whatever you enjoy doing and try to make the sort of music you are really feeling.
@@Sispex You da man! Super funky. In terms of buying your beats fot laying vocals over the top?.... or using A beat for youtube intro
depends what you intend on using the beat for man. What did you have in mind? I'm sure we can work something out
Extracting the drum pattern to midi and then replaying it with your own drums would be interpolation, wouldn't it? Still owe royalties, no? Or you just betting they won't trace it back, or win a case?
I think this beat needs a little "combing" of notes, meaning correcting occasional 8th to 16th and adding some triplets here and there. By making more pronounced statement of the theme (horns could do that) and giving so space to play out for each section this could be pretty nice big band/ funk band score. And I mean scores for musicians to play. Now recording players would be totally different level, wouldn't it?
