[Request] For those of use with existing Schiit gear that we will not/cannot upgrade ... e.g. a Folkvangr ... what does the Forkbeard app show when some non-FB components are in the system?
I love how connected the app feels to the hardware. It's a very integrated-feeling even watching through the phone screen. Doesn't exude that fiddly, flaky, loose wireless operation. You know what I mean! 😅
good decision. now think about room correction inbuilt in Yggy (just a parametric eq with freq, gain and q settings), so that we don't need to deal with minidsp hardware or PC Voicemeeter banana software.... and lesson learned: Never say never :)
Is it feasible/possible to add Forkbeard module compatibility to existing pre-F products, like Freya and Aegir? Doubt many will want to buy a Freya F to replace an exisitng Freya+. What about Yggy? The promise is that it is upgradable. Will Forkbeard compatibility come to exisiting Yggy+ units?
Why "Forkbeard?" The Forkbeard I know about was -- briefly -- one of the Norse kings of England. Sweyn Forkbeard. He died seven weeks after he seized the throne from Aethelred The Unready. Then Aethelred resumed the throne for a couple of years until, he, too, died in AD 1016. Cnut The Great was Sweyn Forkbeard's son.
@@ANSWERTHECALLOFJESUSCHRIST I mainly listen to digital music too, but I have a nice collection of my favorite albums on vinyl. I guess I collect these records the same way other guys would collect ball cards or Funko Pops. I own about 150 records...and that's probably 75 or 80 percent of the records that I will ever own. ...and I have no clue about the SOL's backstory and why it was discontinued. I only got into this hobby about 2 years ago, so I never saw a Schiit Sol unit they had already been out of production for a while. I'd still like to fiddle around with an SOL, tho...even though I'll probably never get the chance. They don't presents themselves on the pre-owned market often, if at all. sorry for the novel.
Would it be able to have some sort of "geek" mode - like those that can be turned on for RUclips videos to display sample rate etc, so that say if an amp is in " class A" range or into AB, what's the input level in db, what's the gain in db, if timing is off for the USB input and by how much, idk. All useless, but interesting stuff taken directly from the chips from inside the amps/DACs
Great.. a password for your stereo now too 😣 No wifi No internet No apps No software No Worries Just CDs and Vinyl. If it don't spin it won't win. 😂 If i have power im cooking and ive always got power, so im always cooking. KISS is my motto when it comes to audio and electronics
I bought the Kara as an intermediate balanced preamp until I move on to something else. It sounds terrible, way too forward and bright. I can't wait to change it out for something else, and give it away to one of my sons. I will give it away to them with the caveat that they might not like it and they should just give it away to somebody else.
I've got one too I think it does a good job, perhaps you have poor synergy with your equipment. You'll be hard pushed to find an analog balanced class A preamplifier that's of the same quality for the same price. It's a bit rudimentary and not refined but does a good job for it's designed purpose
Great to see the lab Jason, and thank you for the time in sharing
Will there be VU meters?
Meh, they've already got apps for that.
On the headfi blog they talked about having power meters down the road a bit.
This is pretty slick! Never thought I’d see the day that Schiit released an app
This looks fantastic, really excited to see this release!
Ah yes, the final evolved form of a neckbeard, the Forkbeard.
So you need to buy one of these for each component in the stack? How much are they priced at?
Per the website, $50 per module
We still need a Listen/Measure toggle switch!! 😅
Love all my Schiit products. Ill always buy from them. Great company.
Exciting! looking forward to try this.
Very cool, I can see this being a useful addition for my use case. I'd love a macOS version at some point but not a biggie.
Please come out with Left-Right balance control. It is a must for those of us with odd-shaped rooms and two or three walls in the listening space.
Ive the kara without the forkbeard connector, shame it wasn't implemented at the time of manufacture.
This is some really slick schiit!!!
would love to have this! my schiit is a few years old but hope eventually it'll work with it
Any word on when the URD will be back in stock?
I like it, I don't really need it but it's a well designed option none the less. Cheers.

Schiit Sol in the background!! Sell me yours Jason!!

Is it only for new Schiit gears? Any chance to upgrade Bifrost?
Would it be able to control 2 Vidar 2s in monoblock config?
I want that new DAC and Speaker Amp to come out!!!
Would love to see it connecting with my homeassistant so i can integrate my hifi system into my smarthome.
Great stuff! Very interesting product.

Wait, so the amp is connected to network now, or is it just doing math on the output from the kara knowing the input sensitivity of the amp?

I would be more excited if you put trigger in and out ports in your products. Or released a multichannel amp.
They have more than one multichannel amp now. They're available on their website.
@@nicksimko9160 Ah the Kraken? I had not noticed that. Thanks. However it's only 20W per channel for 5 channels driven. We gonna need more than that.
@@dragonstone6594 There's also Wotan which is 200W per channel, but it's only two channel

Sweyn Forkbeard was the son of Harald Bluetooth, and this is a Bluetooth-based product and service.
@@JananaBanana Great answer! Thank you!
Pretty sure I see the remnants of a SOL on the desk there. Boy, it sure would be nice to have one of those to play with. I'm just sayin'...
I'm not into vinyl, but I still felt bummed out about Sol being discontinued. Such a promising thing and it had to die for good reasons. 😢

sweet.
Welcome to 2016 Shiit. :) My Arcam from 2016 can do this. But a good thing none the less.
Will there be a streamer company that will be compatible with forkbeard ?

Nah I heard, but why would you pay for it if you're not going to use it.

I find the symbols that Schiit uses on its equipment so cryptic, and sadly it seems you're using the same cryptic symbols on the app as well.
Want. Pietus Maximus?
Any rumors on a Shiit streamer?!
Fork yeah
