I'm not an underwater guy, but I am a hunter and fisherman. I must say, you guys are the ultimate sportsman.
Thanks Bro for all the amazing videos! I AM really grateful that you put the names up of all the fish you shoot because it really helps us learn our fish! Very inspirational!
Best spearfishing video of norcal of all time!
action packed video! this is just what we want to see from spearfishing videos. best spearfishing video by far. great job guys!!!!!
best spearing video ive ever seen!!!! please make more like this! we will be watching!!
MSRP on the O.ME.R 3D camo suit is about $550.00
If you don't need the camo, you can get the Gold Black for about $20 cheeper.
These prices are for the full farmer john pants. If you get the high waist, it is also cheeper.
Hey Matt, Yes, all the footage I shot was with the Liquid Image Wide Angle HD dive mask. Product # 322 - The quality is simply amazing! Harold got a few clips with his Go-Pro camera, but the majority of this video was with the Liquid Image Mask.
@TheSpearo92 , I am going to make another video very soon. It will be called "Going Green" or something like that. The video will be about spearfishing in murky waters, with info about the difficulties of doing so, and ways to work around the challenges. The highlight of the video will be me shooting a 62 pound white seabass in the head!!! Stay tuned.
Beautiful vid guys. Nice fish too. Thansk for sharing.
@StrengthFromAbove83 , I did not use any filters, The camera is programed to change the contrast and add color correction when needed. Great camera - great footage!
Awesome video! I heard this was all over just two days...that's a lot of fish!
Hey aLilBitOEverything,
To answer your second question - Monterey vs. Carmel.
Monterey offers shallower depths and a good variety of fish, but often these fish as slightly smaller than in Carmel.
Carmel offers access to deep water relatively close to shore, and usually less divers frequent the dive spots, hence the greater numbers of fish and their larger size. Carmel also has more holes that are conducive to harboring big lingcod.
Good luck!
Great video Dan!!
Hey aLilBitOEverything,
I dive anywhere from 10ft deep to 80ft deep. The average depth I shoot the best fish is between 30ft and 50ft. Many of the fish in Carmel are located in the holes, as you can see in the video. The holes that provide the best shelter from the swells usually hold fish. Using a flashlight will increase your chances of spotting the fish hiding in the darkest part of the hole. I hope that answers your first question.
Tim - Yes, this was all shot in just 2 days! This is an example of how knowing the reef and the holes can produce 10 fold! Thank god for my Garmin GPS!
As usuall great job and you guy's slayed it !!! when you come up to do the trophy dive with me and paul you should do a short vid on it !
Thanks Halibu77,
It was good meeting you today at HMB kayaking company. Hopefully, soon, the WSB bite will start in Monterey and I will pick up my rod and reel and join you for some kayak fishing!!!
Keep your lines tight, and I will post another Mexico video in 2 weeks. I am going back down to Baja in 2 days!!!
TOOL! Vicarious. thats the song
Dan's my hero! I love to see another Cali local winning tournaments and fucking fish up on a world class level. 👌👍👍
that seal's got an attitude at 3:54!
@StrengthFromAbove83 , The volume is like a low volume scuba mask, or a medium volume freediving mask.
one of the most fascinating things about these videos is to realize there are millions of diffrent fish. i watched like 10 of these video in a row and saw (guessing) about 400 diffrent fish (not all beeing hunted).
hey can u make a video of spearfishing the northern California coast in sonoma county?
Yes, the bull sea lion wanted to fight with the tip of my gun! Luckily he did not stick himself on it or it would have been very interesting for me to handle.
How crazy is to come across sea animals that are agressive?
I have ben using the single stock 18mm Omer band on my Omer Kanaloa speargun. I am not sure what the length of the band is.
Yes, I use an O.ME.R 3D camo 2 piece 7mm freediving wetsuit.
DAMN BRO... THAT'S A HUGE LING YOU & YOUR BUDDY SPEARED, WOW!
Hey dan im fro Carmel and i live here where do you go spear fishing out in carmel im pretty new to it!
Epic video for sure, it's great to see how it's done. Maybe now, I will stop shooting at rocks and more fish. Lol
Matt, When I go diving with you, I will shoot lots of footage. Scout some big trophies and I will shoot the video of you guys taking home the glory!
You can read my comments under the video for more info, but the short answer is - Liquid Image Hd wide angle mask #322.
@freedivingdan Now that is pretty amazing. I'm gonna have to pick one of those up. How's the volume of the mask? Just like any standard scuba mask?
@spearfishusmc , (lings - not Kings right?) Rather than go deep, thin about where the lingcod prefer to be. I find that the concentrations of lingcod improve North of Malibu. I have shot several Lings at Malibu, but most of them are small (about 10 to 13 pounds) If you continue north, the lings get bigger. North of Pt. Conception is the best bet for finding good numbers of lings. Once you get to Big Sur and Carmel, you will be in the area where big lings are very common. Good luck.
dang thats insane! your gunna have to hook me up on some good dive spots and reefs!;D
great!
How big of a band do you use on your Kanaloa? And is that what the gun comes stock with?
hey when are you going to make another video?
Do you use filters on your mask for the videos? If so, which colors?
Thanks,
Gav
Try looking at the credits at the end of the video.
If im in the camp pendlton area how deep should I go for kings and what time of year
Yes, it is legal anywhere other than europe.
was this shot with the liquid image ?
What dive light are you using?
is it legal to use the flashlight?
are those bull seals always that agressive and do you see them often?
TheOneandolNY I live in San Diego and yes they’re fucking dicks lol
I live in Capitola
Sell me a solid dive suit since you're a sponsored diver and i'm learning using my surfing suit?
hey you use 7mm wet suites right?
How deep do you go to get those rock fishes?
anywhere from 20ft to 100ft, but often in the 50ft range.
Thx for these videos. I alos love spearfishing but it's illegal in Mauritius.
how much do they cost?
The B Foundation - Say it in sin :))
thatlooked like some prime pole spear fishing right there woulda been more fun shooting those little guys in the rocks witha pole spear instead of a gun but good vid either way
