Thanks for promoting spear fishing here in Oregon. Such a wonderful sport and needs attention
Right it is a great sport!! And alot of fun!!
Yes! dude. The video quality is rapidly improving. Great stuff!
Thanks man! I'm trying!
I dive that jetty all the time! Great shots! Quick tip, poke the fish thru the eyes with your stringer. Its way faster and you have less issue with your gloves getting into those teeth. The skull is extremely hard too, so it wont pull out or rip out.
Thanks thats a great tip!! Ya thoughs teeth can definitely do some damage to the gloves.... lol!
So glad you are enjoying the truck!!
Oh I love it!!! It's great for everything I do!!I hope all is well with you!
All is good here. I miss the truck, but am happy to see you getting some use out of it!!
@@unluckyneighbor4063 Thats good to here! Ya its happy doing all the things trucks want to do lol!
New subscriber I've never been to the jetty. Drive by it every trip to Newport. Thanks for showing us whats under the waves.
Your welcome! I definitely recommend checking it out down their! Its a whole different world!
As a straight male, i was fast forwarding until you got your rig out. Buddy you are in impecible shape haha.
Thanks man! The gym is one of my other favorite places to be!
Doesn't sound like you're quite so straight anymore 😂
Vid was great man! Got a sub outta me. Great shot on that pig of a lingcod bro! Take care and stay safe! 🍻
Thanks man!! Stay safe as well!!
Dude that background music was perfect!!!!
Thanks man!! It took me a bit to find it!!
I like the natural sound of Warter and bubble personally w out music
@@scottebear I can definitely understand, I like it natural sometimes as well!!
Good stuff. Viz didn't look too great but you managed to get a few fish on the stringer.
Thanks! Ya viz wasn't the best! But still pretty good for what I'm used to! I can't complain about the stringer. I was pretty happy!
Man i used to fish this all the time! Never got into diving til i moved to hawaii. Def have to give it a go when i come back to visit!
Oh man ya you definitely need to do it when you visit!! It's amazing as you no if you dive in Hawaii!! Im jealous of your warm water lol!
@ExploreNHook ya I have swam the oregon coast a lot but man diving in it is intense! Warm and clear here for sure!
@@jakepeleshuck3701 Ya its definitely a whole new experience for sure. But I just cant get enough of it! I'm just hoping I can swim with an Orca some day out there!
Just got myself a Changing Robe. Those look clutch, thanks for the suggestion!
Getting into the sport. Let me know if you want to dive Barview.
Thoughs changing robes are very helpful for sure lol!! I still need to hit up barview!! I'll let you know whenever I decide to go!!
Changing robe plus thermos of hot water was a game changer for me in NorCal December
@@michaelfranceschi9694 I love having the robe but that's a great idea about the hot water!!
Spear fishing looks like so much fun! Low visibility and cold water would concern me quite a bit though.
I hope to be doing this very soon im almost ready. Its kind spendy to start but I feel like it will be way worth it
That's awesome man! Ya it can be a bit spendy to start but once you have the gear, it's just gas and ice money!! Im sure I'll see you out there soon enough then, if the ocean would just calm down lol!
I've been twice so far I went to the Newport jetty last weekend it was so nice got my first limit of rockfish. I'm heading out this Saturday. I'm hoping I'm gonna get my first ling. I seen a few last weekend I just couldn't get them. I got so much better in just two dives.
@@JohnAnderson-ze2hu Hell ya man that's awesome!! Hopefully you can get your first ling soon!!! Im sure I'll see you out there then soon enough!!
Might be time for odfw to shut the jetties down for spear fishing during the spawn.. like shooting fish n a barrel.
Nice videos ! I am trying to know if i can go with someone because i did spearfishing in my country , but with that low visibility that scare me . I dive around 20 meters deep and i did for a living . You won a subscriber .
Thanks man!! Ya im in a group on Facebook called Oregon Freediving and spearfishing! There are a bunch of people of all experience levels. That buddie up most good swell days! The low viz can get spooky but after awhile you just get used to it lol!
Thanks !
Love it Ryan! I want to challenge you to a friendly competition. You with your speargun and me with my pole spear. You in!? The feast after will be legendary :)
Oh I'm definitely in!! I accept your challenge!
I fish the jetty all the time I just started getting gear to start spear fishing out there. Any easy advice for a beginner. What size wet?suit 7mm and how deep do you usually go on that jetty. Doesn't seem to deep.
@@JohnAnderson-ze2hu Ya definitely get a 7mm wet suit!! Make sure wo watch a video how to clean the silicone out of your mask with a lighter and tooth paste, then get defogger gel or spray! Deepest is low 30 feet maybe on high tides but you can get fish in even shallower water for sure!
@@ExploreNHook thank you. I'm a wet suit away from going out. I think Ive seen you out there before. Have you ever gone spearfishing at night?
@@JohnAnderson-ze2hu I wouldn't be surprised im usually out there alot if thr conditions are good! Dang ya you are almost ready! Also make sure you have a variety of weights for your weight belt because it will be some trial and error when you first get in the water to weight yourself properly! I run 24lbs of weight and I'm 190lbs and use a 7mm suit!
No I haven't done a night dive yet, but some people and I have started to talk about it!!
Awesome video man!! New subscriber here keep up the good work!
Thanks man! I really appreciate it! And I'll keep at it!
@@ExploreNHook get a hold of me let’s plan a trip!!
@@WVA541 That would be cool! So you spear fish as well?
@@ExploreNHook nope never have, but I’m open water certified and I would like to get back into diving!
@@WVA541 You will definitely love it! but I'm currently just free diving, so you may want a scuba buddy!
You mentioned with the first fish you caught that judging their size under water is difficult. How did you know the Ling was over the minimum length?
Its just Experience now! You will see in other videos I have where I just look at them but don't shoot, because I can just tell its to close to 22 Inch's, but their are others like this one where you No immediately that its much larger than 22 inches!
How long can you be in that water before you need to get out and warm up?
I fish Depoe Bay.
I have yet to dive there, but I'm planning on moving around the coast this year! Maybe ill see you out there!
Yo wtf! My wife is on RUclips. How dare you show that physique 😂. Good fishing.
@@Wailuku43 LOL sorry man! Just thought I should throw it out there lol! Thanks!! I was so happy when i got that ling!
Curious as to what gloves you use? Brand and thickness. Thanks, I enjoy the videos. Definitely thinking about getting into it!
Sorry I didn't notice your comment till this morning! They are 5mm gloves I get on Amazon! When I get home from work I'll look them up and send you a link if your curious about them! I like them alot because there flexible! And my hands don't cramp in them! Thanks and you should definitely get into it it extremely fun and a while new world to explore!
@@ExploreNHook no worries at all man! And yes that would be great! I’m adding a bunch of gear to my Amazon cart lol. After seeing a couple guys get out of the water Sunday at south beach it’s all I can think about!
@@michaelalloway2068 That is very understandable lol! it is a ton of fun in the water and just seeing all the life down there.
The gloves I use are these, btw this is an affiliate link just so you know. amzn.to/4855BvQ I use the 5 mm!
If you have any other questions about gear just let me know! I hope to see you out there soon enough!
@@ExploreNHook will do man! I really appreciate it! Thanks you
@@michaelalloway2068 No problem!
Sedang apa master❤
Luar biasa
I'm doing good, just waiting for the ocean to calm down so I can start diving again!!
@@ExploreNHook great master. keep up the enthusiasm, hopefully there will be more videos
@@Kubosa_Official Thanks man I will! and there will be more videos soon! The ocean looks amazing where your diving!
@@ExploreNHook amazing master
@@ExploreNHook taq
What if you speargun a ling that is 21 inches not 22 inches do you still keep it? Do the game warden let you go because it's not a reel catch?
It's up to each person, but if you get 21 and a game warden gets you I'd bet you would get a ticket! But I'm not 100% sure, that's why you only take shots if they look much larger than 22 inches!
The videos are always so murky. Is your vision better underwater than the video? I love lingcod but how can you target them with that reduced visibility? Murky water also makes it tougher to spot trouble.
Ya your vision is a bit better underwater on days like this, but This is considered good visibility for Oregon, A lot of the time we get like 5-6 ft of visibility days, but can still usually find fish, but its a lot tougher, and a bit spookier lol
Which Cressi speargun are you using?
@@rogerbailey188 In this video I'm using a 75cm Cressi apache I also have it in a 45cm
@@ExploreNHook And do you have a preference? Or when do you choose one over the other? Or if you had to choose just one? Thanks
@@rogerbailey188 I prefer to use the 45cm one when viz is really bad because it's more compact so you usually just swim right up to fish and not even see them till the last minute! And the 75cm one I like with better viz water so I can take longer shots from a distance since I can actually see the fish further away! Though right now I'm waiting for a new spear for my 75, so I'm using my 45 all the time right now!
@@ExploreNHook Thank you!
@@rogerbailey188 Your welcome!
The crab

@@joshc.2350 It didn't indeed lol
Nice video 🫡
Thanks man!!
3 lings?
This video is spread over two days! Saturday and Sunday!
Haha he thought he gotcha.
@@JohnAnderson-ze2hu He did indeed lol!
Cool video could’ve been better without the music but still cool video
@@GrominnAround Thanks man! Ya im starting to make videos with no or less music!
@@ExploreNHook less is better. Just the sounds of the water swooshing around while you swim is pretty cool. A lot of people like to add unnecessary music. If the music wasn’t added their videos will be a million times better. Sometimes I stop watching videos because of the music that’s obnoxiously loud and irrelevant
@@GrominnAround Ya im with you, about the natural water sounds, and if the music is just over powering, which in this one it's is definitely borderline lol, but I'm learning! I appreciate the input!
@@ExploreNHook I subscribed man. I’m actually thinking about relocating to Oregon. Visited there coast last month and really loved it man
@@GrominnAround Thanks man that's awesome! Oregon is amazing! And I can't ever get enough of our coast!
