This is a very personal video. If you're here for good old renovation stuff, this video is probably not for you and you can skip this one.
We just arrived in France and the next video will be about all the steps necessary to move a family of six to France. I really wanted this video to be ready sooner but the last two weeks were just a roller coaster of emotions and with all the work to get everything ready, there really was no time to edit videos…
Also: If you are interested in the Sauna Boat, unfortunately I have no video of it, but you can see a lot of pictures in this instructable I made: www.instructables.com/Saunaboat-Turning-an-Old-Unused-Boat-Into-a-Swimmi/
looking forward to your stories in the comments,
    linus.

Brave decision ! All will be well, I am sure. I moved from Holland to italy when I was 65 with one cat. Still don't regret it after 13 years. I have subscribed and look forward to learn what is going to happen in France.

Thank you for the video. I think it adds perspective when people explain their reasoning for such a big move. I am a first generation Australian, and my husband is half English and Swedish. We have been talking about moving to Europe for many years. For us, we have cats and a dog, so not as easy to move. I understand the desire of wanting a change and also simplifying life. Australia is one of the most expensive countries to live in now, and as we get older, we don't even want to try to keep up.

Thank you for sharing! Leaving our cat was actually the hardest part. But remember, we are only going away for a year! I know an australian/german couple for whom the dicision to live in one place always feels bad for the Family who then lives far away

@@oinatao do you think you may extend the year? If so, will you bring your cat over then? I could not be parted from mine, as they are like my children. I like them even more than I like my child. 🤣

How very interesting. I came across this video by chance, after I had been watching a video of a young couple who moved to a very rural location. It is a lovely life you are living now, but I understand your decision to move. You are young enough to do this, otherwise you may have reached an older age and the opportunity would be lost, and perhaps regreted. Very best of luck.

Fascinating lifestyle. You did a marvellous thing to set that community up. I’ve never lived in such a place but can see the attraction. My husband is a geologist too so we’ve travelled a lot together and also apart and we’ve both lived in many places together and prior to meeting. It’s always a joy to participate in cultures different to our own. We also spend a lot of time in France and these last few years we have spent a good portion of the European summer in the same place in the Dordogne and have made a community of friends there too. It feels like home to us. I hope you get the same where you are, and I’m pretty sure you will when you find things to join in with there in your down time. All the best. Just back home in Perth Western Australia from the Dordogne.

wow, that must be quite a trip from rural france to perth! I alos hope we find a good community. It might help that the kids will quickly get to learn the language and probably find new friends fast and maybe we get to know their familys then..we will see
