I do not dispute that Russia is in the wrong, yes your memory serves you correctly it was Russia that invaded. It's just that all pro Ukraine bloggers blog about Ukraine's success after success crushing them here smashing them there surrounding them waiting for them to die and here we are the eastern frontline has barely moved, when all these successful operations the Ukrainians have been reported to have had by the pro Ukraine bloggers you'd think they'd have driven Russia out already. I'm saying the success of Ukraine has been vastly over-reported.
In reality they have been bogged down with no significant progress.
I want Putin gone as much as the next man, he is a dinosaur relic from the middle of the last century. It is his own people that have to depose him. The Kursk incursion is a great tactic for bringing home to Russians that Putin's special military operation has turned into a war that sees occupying forces taking more land in a week than Russia has in more than two years

Ukrainians are using modern tactics while the Russians are fighting under their new Czar exactly as they did under the old one. Get them out of their fortified positions and they are no match for the AFU. The Southern Front is the modern equivalent of the Maginot Line. The Germans defeated the French by going around the Line instead of wasting men in frontal assaults. The Russians have had years to fortify the Donbass. Doing anything there other than holding the line is pointless. By putting their defenses in the Donbass, Russia has left the back door wide open and Ukraine has come calling.

@HerbertLandei The moment Lukashenko orders an aggression against Ukraine, he will be hung from a tree by "his own" people. He knows it, and that's why he will do nothing to help Russia. Ukraine only needs a small force to defend the border to Belarus. No point in giving Lukashenko legitimacy. He will fall with Putin. Putler, in his divine wisdom, decided it was more important to defend occupied territories in Ukraine than his own borders. Ukraine just doubled the length of the front line Russia need to defend. They will not pursue a deep offensive into Russia. Just force Russia to disperse their forces along the entire front. I wouldn't want to be a Russian soldier when Ukraine goes on the offense in Donbas.

One of the most enlightening comments I've heard is that in a free country, the military exists for national security; in a dictatorship, the military exists for regime security. He's got to be remembering Pregozhins coup just about now...
      - From Kursk Oblast it's about half the distance than from Rostov on Don, so instead of 8/15 hours (for Pregozhins rapid advanced force and heavy equipment respectively) it could be as fast as 4 hours for Ukraine, with their heavy support arriving just 2-3 hours later if they left from, say, Khomutovka, Kursk.
      - He has less equipment and reserves now, than when he failed to stop Pregozhin.
      - The Ukrainian heavy equipment is better maintained, more effective, and their tanks are much faster than Pregozhins.
      - Ukraine has 12,000 troops in Kursk (+about 5,000 resting reserves ) vs Pregozhins 3-5,000 men during the coup. So, Ukraine could easily muster a 4x size advantage over Pregozhin in a breakthrough.
      - There are two parallel motorway routes into Moscow that stay within bombardment support distance of each other, splitting the defence.
      - Ukraine has considerably better real-time intelligence from NATO satellites.
      - There'd be barely enough time to react to the situation if the Ukranians made a break for Moscow... certainly not enough time to bring troops back from the front.
      - Supply lines aren't a major factor on a clean run to the objective
      - Unlike Pregozhin, Ukrainians wouldn't accept a last minute 'deal'
The phrase _"Hot knife through butter"_ seems appropriate. So, Putin must be terrified of a Ukraine breakthrough in case they suddenly just run for Moscow... there'd be barely any time to respond and certainly no time to draw troops from the Ukranian front.
I'm not saying that they should... but if the fact that they easily 'could' is not keeping Putin awake at night, then he's a far bigger fool than I previously thought.
Talking of threats, isn't it about time Poland, Lithuania and Latvia had some large scale 'military exercises' on the western Belarusian border... right near the checkpoints where major motorways run directly into Minsk. if only to remind Lukashenko to keep his own troops close to home, to avoid getting spanked?
Luka should be left under no doubt that deploying the relatively small Belarussian forces into Kursk or Ukraine is probably a bad idea that will leave him badly exposed.

Its almost a rounding error in difference though. Helpful, sure. But cruise missiles (be it jet or propeller driven) have ranges of 20x to 50x the distance Ukraine has pushed into Russia. There are very few targets that they couldn't hit a month ago with those missiles that they can hit now.

    • @lexslate2476
      @lexslate2476 2 месяца назад

@@hb9145 Also, not to put too fine a point on it, but Russia being invaded by countries who definitely have the firepower to finish the job is the kind of thing that makes whatever portion of their nuclear arsenal is still functional in to a real factor.
Ukraine can do what it is doing because it is very obvious that there's a much less drastic way for Russia to make them leave (giving Ukraine back the land that Russia has stolen). If a country with a full, modern military went on the offensive against Russia right now, it would look like they were going for a killing blow. And a government that thinks it is about to fall is a government unlikely to show restraint.
