Although I have known this film for years, it always makes me laugh. The film's protagonist's name was Franciszek (Frank) Dolas, but he did not give his real name because he escaped the Germans from forced labor. He gave a false name Grzegorz (Gregory), the surname Brzęczyszczykiewicz, difficult for Germans to pronounce, and an invented place of residence, also difficult to pronounce.
hello, the Polish alphabet has similar letters to the English ones but they are pronounced differently and additionally some combinations of letters that express one sound. The Polish alphabet is discussed and compared to the English alphabet in a fun way in this video - "How to read Polish or something" - after this video Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz will be easier for you to pronounce Greetings from Poland🙂
The main character was a fugitive from a POW camp. He deliberately gave a false name and further pissed off the Germans. Try this pronunciation: "Gshegosh Bshewchyshchykievitch" born in "Hshowshchyshevoshetza Povyat Wenkowody" Grzegorz=Gregory, Brzęczyszczykiewicz= Brzęczy (Buzzes)+last name ending Chrząszczyżewoszyce= Chrząszcz (Beetle)+ funny sounding ending of the place name powiat Łękołody=Łękołody county -it doesn't mean anything but is hard to pronounce

The mistake foreigners make is that they try to read all the consonants separately. Combinations such as rz, sz, cz are read differently in Polish
