You are missing the most important aspect of sync in anytype. It use different net protocol than http which let you sync your data between your devices without central server. That means anytype doesnt see your data, and even if they close the bussines your apps with sync will still work. Or if you dont have external connection but your home wifi works, it will still sync. It syncing peer to peer, with clever technology to find devices. It is truly a game changer, hope this will be implemented more in other services. Anytype version is called AnySync.

What a coincidence! I started using it in the past week, and it was an awesome experience. The speed of opening the app and syncing content is out of this world.
I've tried using it several times over the last year+, and it just goes to show how differently our brains are wired as personally, I find it extremely awkward to use compared to Notion, Obsidian and Capacities. It's probably on par with Tana in terms of natural adoption for me.
So, "objects" are nothing more than a naming convention for _different note types,_ which you can pre-determine according to the kind of content you want to put in them, AND how you want them displayed when mentioned (i.e. with an icon or underline or whatever)?? It doesn't seem like anything Obsidian couldn't implement, either officially or via community plugin Good that there's more competition on the market though. Whatever the case, these electron apps come out of the blue promising to have reinvented the wheel, but you then do a closer inspection, and it's nothing more than yet another electron markdown editor with less features than Obsidian... To be honest, it gets kind of tiring that there isn't enough tech stack differentiation (like the differences between Apple Note, OneNote, Scrivener and Obsidian for example)
So Cool ! Finaly Objects. (persoanlly, pls disregard) Now we need a skeleton dictionary with relation-definition-rigidity implemented on objects, And then, we finish with really good scripts for 1.holding value and measuring, and for 2.validating value-related statements and dictionary construction scripts.
The example you showed seemed way too much effort for something like a "second brain". Creating people, and then tagging them. Apps that save your read books don't exist for no reason. They solve the problems note takers are also supposed to solve, the problem of inconvenience. Just write "Fou" and the book title appears, tap it and boom, you saved it! In my opinion, a "second brain" app and system should require the minimum effort possible to remember things. And it should be designed around that. This is why people love the PARA method by Tiago Forte and apps like Twos. They streamline the process so well. Combine PARA+Twos, for example, and you can become extremely efficient.

This is effectively augmented tagging. A lot of this is possible with tag data, apps just don’t do it. Augmenting the object with more data is nice, but could also just be done with linked notes in some other tools. It’s neat but seems like just a fancy UX/UI over features other apps have too.

Thanks for sharing. Anytype is an app I enjoy using. Once you get your head around objects and sets (database queries), Anytype is a joy to use.

Obsidian has its downsides. I wouldn't be worried about lack of competition for it.
Try it for yourself because that video doesn't tell anything about anytype.

I used Anytype for 6 month . I switched to twos , cause it’s more fun 😂
Twos is great, I just wish they had heirarchy for their "things"
