@@NotebookOverloadd that was helpfull, i like having the graph always open but it was getting in my nerve every time a note opening in the tab that the graph was on
The developer of the calendar plugin, Liam Cain, is a core developer of Obsidian. So I wouldn't worry about it not being updated in 3 years. It's probably just so independent from the Obsidian API that nothing has broken it so far
Thanks for the info! Wasn’t aware of that but it makes total sense now. Def gives me ease of mind. I could also see obsidian adopting this natively in the future.
@@Flackon I'd wager the reason that is not happening is just legal stuff. Since the developer owns that instead of Obsidian, integrating it might need to involve some sort of sale or other legalese stuff that is just not worth the hassle. I don't have any information, this is just speculation based on what I've seen at my work as a software dev.
Please do more videos on Obsidian! I love your video and how you explain things. It makes Obsidian feel more accessible to those of us who are new to it.
I only got one new plugin from this video, (many of yours don't fit my usecase, or I already use them) but I still wanted to comment that this is an amazing video on this topic. No nonsense, good selection of some niche, but useful plugins, and I love how you actually showed off and talked about the way you use them.
I’ve been loving obsidian too! I’ve found I don’t even need any community plug ins to enjoy the software which is amazing imo. I love the template feature! I used it to create a “ Insert current date” command without a plugin
Well that was the most generous response to a comment I’ve experienced! Thank you for the PasteBin file for your style settings. Love how you helped explain your rationale, even/especially the tangents 😊 I’m happy with disembodied hands or voices! Just appreciate the great content. ❤
That is awesome! By the way, the feature of saving the scroll speed into the frontmatter was my suggestion and the owner of the plugin just implemented it in no time! I use this plugin a lot and have 3 dedicated vaults only for music.
I did not know about the Chord Sheet Plugin. Thanks a ton. This can potentially save me the cost of an annual subscription for Ultimate Guitar Tabs. Also, I love the idea of saving the chords and tabs of my favorite songs in my Obsidian Vault. Love and Blessings from India.
Thank you for that last chapter. Really increased the value of your recommendations. Alignment is important in information transmission. It's at least part of translation. And in this case it was simple enough for a near full match on concerns.
i found Obsidian through you. Thank you! i can make sense of my own rabbit hole thoughts and personal research. it's making therapy notes and blog writing so much easier. i was afraid of the plug-in though. can't wait to try some of your suggestions.
Normally, I don’t write comments, but I had to for this one. This was one of the most helpful videos I’ve seen about Obsidian. I’m just starting with it, and there’s so much pointless, useless content out there. Most creators talk like cult preachers, going on for half an hour about nothing, only to finally mention a plugin name. One more video about a ‘second brain’ graph, and I might cry. So, thank you very much for a meaningful and straightforward video. 🙏
I finally decided to use obsidian as my note taking/information gathering app today and I’m excited to get into it (close call with notion). I’ll check these plugins out, thank you 😊
0:39 I am not sure if someone already write this, but in docs for Calendar plugin it says, that if you enter 0 as number of words per day, dots would be turned off
Obsidian! You use plugins to hide my most-used features and express things I would never use. Too funny. I keep thinking I'll make a video for my oddball setup.
I love using omnivore cause you can just share a youtube link to it and it transcribes the video to be used as text. I use that feature a lot when syncing stuff to obsidian
Thank you for the style settings! I absolutely adore the look of your Obsidian. Sadly Calendar doesn't seem to work in my Mac, nor my iPad, not even my phone. The plugin fails to load as of today. In Windows it seems to do just fine though.
Personally, I like you talking with your hands more :) But great content both ways! Could you do a tutorial on how you set up your Obsidian vault? Thank you so much for letting us copy your style settings, I will try to use it :)
Could you please add the formatting list for the Style Settings plug-in also in a pastebin? It's shown at 9:39. Or is there another place where I can get the list?
Thanks for sharing! i use just 5, could do with 4: Dataview, Iconize, LaTeX Suite, Paste Image Rename and Tag Wrangler. I got the last 2 after watching this video, but i already have a python script that changes tag names, but i dont mind the convenience Tag Wrangler provides. I was checking out the calendar plugin but decided to use something more simpler, pen/paper calendar on my desk for schedule conflicts or ig i've been using excel for my calendar that works too (its only for school/class/work conflicts)!
very nice and appreciative videos, thank you very much!!! I have a question: at the bottom right you can see the graph view, which changes dynamically depending on the open note. How does that work? Best regards and thanks again.
Hi amazing video , would you tell me how do u have space between workspace and calender plugin and other stuff and how do they have curved edges as well??
Do you know how to re-enable the status bar? When I am using your Style settings and the AnuPpuccon theme the status bar is gone. With the default theme it's back in the lower right corner.
im kinda late, but how did you setup the homepage index? im having a hard time doing so. also, how did you make the graph view in bottom right change every note you open?
So I’m very new to Obsidian. And I have no coding knowledge at all. I am a musician and would love to know how to implement the chord sheet plug in. I found the plugin…downloaded it and enabled it. But I cannot figure out how to actually use it. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
Hi! Please go to the chords plug-in in your settings and click on the plug-in settings. There should be a setting called “block language specifier”. This is a word you type at the top of the page that will allow this plug-in to work. For me that word is ‘chords’, but it can be any word. Then add ```+your word (```chords for me) to the top of a note, and now you have a “block” in which you can copy-paste your chord sheets. I hope this helps! If it doesn’t, please send me a message on Instagram (@ notebookoverload) and I’ll troubleshoot with you there.
I recently switched to the Journal plugin by Sergii Kostyrko. It's supposed to be kind of a replacement for periodic notes and calendar and is actively being updated and upgraded.
I've been this specific with my plug ins the first time but having used it more on android, i end up losing the shortcuts and run on "properties" after it updated 😂 some of your plug-ins are automated versions of the hotkeys available with a little upgrade which i love about obsidian's community plug-in features but you're right about risking depending on them too much(that was problem mimicking desktop users huhu). also i admire how you keep up with ONE vault, but I think that's just my personal problem with always starting from scratch when a system doesn't work for me (like copying desktop notes to my android vault or vice versa and the note features clash from the plug-in availability)
Oh yeah I’m definitely a one vault person!! I don’t think I could keep up with multiple 😆 I’ve changed my system a few times but always within the same vault. That’s a pain tho lol
Congratulations for such an amazing video! It's been a while since the plug-in Tag Wrangler is no longer working. Whenever I click on listed tags column a pop up message comes up stating that the plug in is not active or it has gone away. I tried reinstalling it several times, but no luck. Has it ever happened to you? Do you have any tips, I could use to manage my tags back again? Thanks in advance!
