I love watching my goodreads feed within 24 hours of these videos and seeing how many people definitely watched this series because we all add books from it 😂
Okay, first of all, the shirt hair color combo is serving. Secondly, I’m always amazed how you find all these on Goodreads when half the time my app is struggling to stay open 😂
Joe Abercrombie is one of my all time favourite authors. He balances darkness and humor so well in my opinion. And his character work is truly unparalleled.
it feels like vampires are back in a big way!! I have Fang Fiction on my kindle as an e-arc, I really hope the main character is fat because her other romance featured a plus size FMC and I loved it
When Dead and Breakfast comes out you should make a blog reading all the cozy mysteries that use that pun (that I had to scroll through trying to find this book)
I just read The Favorites and it's my favorite book of the year so far! It does have a love story at the center of it, but it's definitely literary fiction. It's also got documentary film transcripts interspersed throughout. It's also thrilling as the whole book is building up to this big reveal of something shocking that happened at the olympics, but it's by no means a thriller. It's also a retelling of Wuthering Heights! I was living my best life with it but I'm also a figure skater lol
The amount of excitement I feel whenever I see one of these videos pop up in my subscriptionbox is insane! This list was an absolute gem: a new Charlotte McConaghy, V.E. Schwab ánd a debut that sounds incredible (Girl in the Bog): I can't wait
That Kiersten White cover is gorgeous! I don’t know if you mentioned this in a previous video, but did you see Julia Bartz has a new one coming out next April?
I was somehow BLESSED with an arc of The Favorites and I'm currently reading it for lalathon (stories about obsession) and really enjoying it. It's super different than her other books though. I would not call it a romance but there is a relationship at the center of the story.
Stephen Graham Jones is also releasing a vampire novel next year 👀 it's a historical vampire revenge story I'm sooo excited to see what he does with vampires
Oh, I'm excited for Mother-Eating. I really enjoy books told in an atypical format, and I always love anything related to Marie Antoinette and/or Texas, lol. And I might pick up the new Marisha Pessl. I quite liked Night Film and have had Special Topics in Calamity Physics on my shelf for a while. I actually had no idea she was writing YA, somehow I missed Neverworld Wake. I just put it on hold at my local library.
Seems like Wild Dark Shore is inspired by the seed vault on Svalbard. 2025 seems like it should be so far in the future, but it’s not 😂 Loved the cover of The Favourites!
I got a recommendation for everyone I normally do horror and thriller and every so often a contemporary gets me. Husband's by Holly Gramazio is a refreshing new concept and I can't put it down. I haven't finished it but top 3 for the year. Give it a try
So off topic, but I went to open Storygraph to log some recs (but I was logged out) and basically in the process of logging in again, I've managed to recover a long lost password feature on my phone. So thank you for accidentally being IT support 🎉
Ooo if you haven't - it would be interesting for a video if you read books by characters with the name Kayla and see which Kayla you relate to the most :)
I have so many books I am waiting for to come out this year that I couldn't possibly name them all here. But you may like Lady Macbeth by Ava Reid, other than that my other recommendations are high Fantasy or Romance which I know aren't your thing. It's pronouced Ki-ron, the ferryman for the dead 26:37
did you have like ocean waves or rain in the background?? i was hearing that throughout your video 😫 otherwise, fantastic video these are definitely my fave videos of yours!!
I was so excited for fan fiction because I loved Kate's debut romance but it fell sooo flat and felt so amateur/childish despite dealing with really heavy topics
The brazilian cover of But not too bold (Bem mal me quer) is way better! But I still like some elements of this one, I think the odd thing is the blue tarantula...
EYEBALLS! Sorry. Had to. Also the list I need you to read to know if I have to read it haha: Fang Fiction Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil Girl in the Creek Model Home Thankkkksss
I went to a book event where Ashley Winstead said This Book Will Bury Me is about a woman who gets involved in online slueth pages/communities trying to solve "the crime of the century"
I read Ghost Eaters by Clay McLeod Chapman recently and found it laughably bad, so I don’t overly suggest trying out Wake up and Open Your Eyes. But hey, maybe he’s improved.
Respectfully, you hair doesnt look like bacon today. 😂 This lavender color really suits you. I'm looking at this video knowing I read in french and book usually are translated a year after.
okay but your hair and this lavender on you is EATING!!!!!
But is it eating bacon? lol jk totally agree 😂
ahhhhh thank you!!!
oh she left NOOOO CRUMBS with this look
this actually might be my favourite series, i get SO excited to find new books to anticipate 😂
I don’t know enough about color theory understanding why this lavender top is working so well on you, but it is WORKING! 💜🔥
I always watch these with Goodreads open and add so many books to my TBR shelf! Very grateful for these videos!
I love watching my goodreads feed within 24 hours of these videos and seeing how many people definitely watched this series because we all add books from it 😂
Ditto
I think the cover of “but not too bold” is nice but the spider graphic quality is so different from the tile design that it looks out of place?
Yes and I think if some of them where rotated and dispersed into the background it would look better
ooooh yeah maybe that's what's throwing it off for me
That’s what threw me off, too. The blue spider against that soft background was stark.
Okay, first of all, the shirt hair color combo is serving. Secondly, I’m always amazed how you find all these on Goodreads when half the time my app is struggling to stay open 😂
I love how I can easily read a 500+ page novel but reading a Goodread’s synopsis is beyond me 😂
hahhahahahahhaa
This is a mood 😂😭 the second I see more than one paragraph in a synopsis, my mind checks out
Lilac? Lavender? Light purple is so pretty on you!! 🤩
Thanks for giving me 40+ more books to add to my already impossible tbr
the cover for girl in the creek is sick as hell whoa
It's so creepy and pretty at the same time, I'm obsessed
21:14 I cackled at that “oh no!”
Books aside that lilac colour looks beautiful on you! ❤
I always look forward to these videos! They help me build my TBRs every year. Thanks so much for doing all the work and making my reading life easier!
I just picked up the first Wayward Children book today at a book swap! Had no idea what it even was but I liked the cover! Now I'm excited!
there are so many upcoming books i’m excited for ❤ giving me something to look forward to in the near and far future
Joe Abercrombie is one of my all time favourite authors. He balances darkness and humor so well in my opinion. And his character work is truly unparalleled.
it feels like vampires are back in a big way!! I have Fang Fiction on my kindle as an e-arc, I really hope the main character is fat because her other romance featured a plus size FMC and I loved it
I read it last month and can confirm the main character is fat!
A sprint AND my favorite series upload in the same day?! 🤩
These videos always get me so hyped for the months ahead!!🥰
Some of these books sound right up my alley and I look forward to adding them to my TBR. Thanks always, Kayla!
So much to look forward to 😍😍😍😍 I didn’t know about most of these upcoming releases! You’ve made my whole day 🥳🥳💃
This is one of my favorite videos that you put out. Always gives me new books to add to my TBR.
Omg a new Rivers Solomon!!
When Dead and Breakfast comes out you should make a blog reading all the cozy mysteries that use that pun (that I had to scroll through trying to find this book)
These videos are the only way I find out about new books at this point
I just read The Favorites and it's my favorite book of the year so far! It does have a love story at the center of it, but it's definitely literary fiction. oooh thank you so much for explaining the vibes!!
The amount of excitement I feel whenever I see one of these videos pop up in my subscriptionbox is insane!

If you like gothic sapphic monster romance you should check out Someone to build a nest in. I read it earlier this year and enjoyed it
Thank you for making these lists 👍❤️
Thank you! Lots of new books to add to my TBR!
This color on you is so great!!!🫶🏻
I'm excited about Fang Fiction! I loved her previous book, One to Watch.
omg a thriller set in my home town of Richmond, VA?! might have to pick it up just because of that lol
this is so helpful because i feel like i only ever see the same 10 new releases and none of them are things i want to read.
i’m so excited for the new ve schwab it’s so my vibe
I just started an ARC of Lucy Undying and I’m loving it so far!
Love these videos I will definitely be reading Fang Fiction
I was somehow BLESSED with an arc of The Favorites and I'm currently reading it for lalathon (stories about obsession) and really enjoying it. It's super different than her other books though. I would not call it a romance but there is a relationship at the center of the story.
In terms of Sapphic monster romance, I'd love to see your review of Someone you can build a nest in!
Noted, thanks for the rec!!
@@BooksandLala We do have pretty different tastes, but it was pretty weird, I feel like 😅 So maybe it will be your thing too!
I found so many to look forward to, thanks for doing the work for me.
Stephen Graham Jones is also releasing a vampire novel next year 👀 it's a historical vampire revenge story I'm sooo excited to see what he does with vampires
Just preordered A Grim Reapers Guide to Catching a Killer 😍
Oh, I'm excited for Mother-Eating. I really enjoy books told in an atypical format, and I always love anything related to Marie Antoinette and/or Texas, lol. Neverworld Wake is sooooo good. Granted I read it years ago but it is very much my taste
You are singlehandedly responsible for my tbr growing 😂
happy to be of service 💕
Seems like Wild Dark Shore is inspired by the seed vault on Svalbard.
2025 seems like it should be so far in the future, but it’s not 😂 Loved the cover of The Favourites!
I'd never heard of that before, but now I'm so intrigued!
Wake up bestie Kayla posted another upcoming releases video!
Grady Hendrix had a cover reveal for his new book too! I’m very excited
Uggggh I know I somehow forgot to mention it, I LOVE the cover too
@@BooksandLala I’m sooooo excited!!!! Witches!!!!!!
@@BooksandLala also Julia bartz has a new synopsis on Goodreads for a book called The Last Session coming out in April in the states I think.
I got a recommendation for everyone I normally do horror and thriller and every so often a contemporary gets me. Husband's by Holly Gramazio is a refreshing new concept and I can't put it down. I haven't finished it but top 3 for the year. Give it a try

I definitely want to check out But Not Too Bold ❤I love the cover ❤. Thanks you give such great book 📚 suggestions.
Love these videos!
the Brazilian (original pub) cover for But Not Too Bold is literally perfect ... why did Tor do this book so bad? lol
I LIVE for this series.
I love the art nouveau style of art, so I hope the fairy godmother book will start a new trend for cover art.
i had to stop the video to preorder V.E. Schwab's book 😫
TCOBK is Mary Pearson's adult debut! There is some spice to it 🎉
Thank You for the recs.
did you have like ocean waves or rain in the background?? i was hearing that throughout your video 😫 otherwise, fantastic video these are definitely my fave videos of yours!!
Lucy Undying is clearly from the Pre-Raphaelbite school of art. 😂
I love these videos!!!

My childhood crush was the French spider lady in James and the Giant Peach so I will def be reading But Not Too Bold *nodding emoji*
The river has roots is coming from one of the authors of this is how you lose the time war. I’m definitely adding it to my 2025 TBR.
I went to a book event where Ashley Winstead said This Book Will Bury Me is about a woman who gets involved in online slueth pages/communities trying to solve "the crime of the century"
A queer vampire cozy mystery? I absolutely need that!
Joe Abercrombie is awesome!
Joe Abercrombie is really going to get me to finally read one of his books because of the cover, huh?🕯️
🏒I know you are a hockey fan. I live in Florida so “Go Panthers” 🐆 LOL!!
My name is cecily and the fairy godmother book was a jumpscare lol
John Marrs shared more info about his new book on his Instagram 😊
I read Ghost Eaters by Clay McLeod Chapman recently and found it laughably bad, so I don’t overly suggest trying out Wake up and Open Your Eyes. But hey, maybe he’s improved.
there has to been a better spider graphic for the But Not Too Bold cover… the gradients are not it
as someone who’s name is finlay, i got slightly offended at the first book LMAO
These are always dangerous ang potentially expensive videos. I love it ✌️
Can you do a Kayla vlog 🤗 characters or authorssss
WAIT NEW MARISHA PESSL?!
Respectfully, you hair doesnt look like bacon today. 😂 This lavender color really suits you. I'm looking at this video knowing I read in french and book usually are translated a year after.
OMG OMG A NEW MARISHA PESSL
I think if the spider was a different colour it would look better, maybe?
52 seconds ago?? Right on time!
I will read Wake Up and Open Your Eyes. I am always curious about other people’s political views, and their fears about our current society.
Amal El-Mohtar is releasing a solo book?!?!?!
A new Charlotte McConaghy?! 🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀
I can't believe we have to wait until 2025 😭 I need it
"muchly anticipated" ok cousin greg!!
Darkly is maybe my favorite cover. If it were a sticker or shirt, I’d buy it. But I think you just said YA so I’m gonna pass on reading it.
*reads the most unhinged blurb*
"...................that's for me."
Here for the relatable behaviour.
Me watching these videos: WRITE THAT DOWN! WRITE THAT DOWN!
I need Model Home in my life
VE Schwab is an auto buy for me
Video idea: Only reading books from authors called Kayla lol
2:52 I’m so sorry but this cover is not it 😂 that spider is gross for more than one reason
