"We're reaching the climax of the arc" You know what? This is the first time i actually realized that. I didn't even think we were near the end even if we reached the MUI. It's all so rushed, emotionless, without any sort of tension whatsoever. Characters got introduced and eliminated so quickly that i completely forgot about them. And how badly they fucked up both Ultra Instinct and Mastered Ultra Instinct is the cherry on the cake
Same. They shouldnt even bother wishing anyone back. Toyataro's multiverse is an absolute joke, I really hope this rushing and complete disrespect of characters all for that broly arc is worth it. The levels of cringe will be off the charts watching toyataro try to bring life to his 8 fodder throwaway universes when Toriyama decides its time to start expending them
Smart Alec the anime tells a good story but the art was shit until after the Future Trunks arc. The first 2 sagas were consistently riddled with pre-k fridge drawings and it didn’t get better until after the Great Saiyaman Episode. Even in episode 70 (Yamcha’s baseball win) you see Vegeta’s arms all scrawny and shit. The manga has its issues with story for sure, but the art is top notch (to be fair, single panels are far simpler than animation). And personally, i love how the ToP has developed. Yeah they did my boy Tenshinhan dirty and fools are getting mopped left and right in a hurry but the rest was dope, plus its not like ppl really gave a shit about the other competitors. Ultra instinct got a cool explanation, Gohan went ham against Kefla, Roshi still kicks ass, and Jiren’s character is far more developed here (he was just a bland final boss type dude in the anime to me). Yes it’s a little rushed but the pacing isn’t horrible either. Honestly im happy to see a different take on super anyway but again its a matter of opinion. And I’ve been following dragon ball ever since Roshi had Goku and Krillin moving milk crates so the waters run hella deep homie lol Side note: we also find out in the manga that my nigga Beerus likes his bbw’s lmao Fat bitches need love too, Craig!
Smart Alec bro GT is fucking awesome idk why ppl hate on it so much. Its not perfect but i love it so much because its more like the OG Dragon Ball (humorous, more adventure oriented and mostly about the fucking titular DRAGON BALLS) and to me its like a dope side story adventure since its not canon. The fucking movies aren’t canon and ppl still love those but GT gets shit on. And correct me if im wrong, but i dont think GT had as many plot holes as Super does, meanwhile Super just retcons or ignores shit like a motherfucker (Broly is my fave, im happy he gets a canon appearance but theyre fucking with the lore too much). They gave us SSJ4, shadow dragons and Baby my nigga (i swear to some degree i feel like Baby sorta inspired Zamasu. Took over vegeta/goku, hates saiyans/mortals but uses their bodies, seeking vengeance for destroying the tuffles/sullying the beauty of the world, found transformations the host could not ie golden ape baby and SSJ Rose, both geniuses, they both grow increasingly insane). Im sorry if im ranting bro, Dragon Ball is a way of life in this bitch.
Toyataro has proven time and again that he is an artist, not an author. He draws beautifully, but once his drawings start talking things fall apart more often than not. His stories do have their moments but just moments. When Toriyama eventually retires the Dragonball room should probably handle the storytelling.
Even with his art it may look nice but he fails in all the basics such as putting in too many panels on a single page or have enough more reaction shots in an entire chapter than most artists do in a volume.
Toyotaro is a meh artist, he just imitates Toriyama very well but that's it. Compare DBS manga with One Punch Man or My Hero Academia mangas and you'll notice the colossal difference in art quality and how emotions and movement are portrayed.
Dean Amx There's a difference between bank animation and tracing. Bank animation is there to cut corners on not so much eventful cutscenes while Tracing is a complete plagiarism of an Intellectual property that isn't made by them to begin with(which Toyotaro does).
How can people say the anime is even good with its piss poor powerscaling and story overall? Im still waiting for that explanation on Super Saiyan Rage and alot more.
i think both are trash. the manga is trash because toyotaro tries too hard to be togashi and just falls completely flat on his face. and the anime is trash because of the horrible ass animation
@Exposing Super Manga fanboys we all already know you're Hotcheetojuice, you've been exposed already so just delete one of the two already 😂 stop using this argument over and over again it's old and already countered
@@자시엘-l1s except the manga treated kale better, and gave her a lil backstory and more shine, HIT did better against jiren, even Roshi did better, frost got more eliminations. Instead of u7 vs all the manga felt like a real battle royal one example is that kale from u6 eliminated other universes.
@@자시엘-l1s dude come on this is a simple answer, Jiren was heavily suppressed, way more than he fought MSSJB Goku and Hit, it was just tougher than he thought and didn't know how skilled he is. I agree tho he's not a great author but he's still learning, that's how he can get better. Toriyama is supervising Toyotaro on how he does the manga, if you let someone else do your shit throughout your career then how would you improve as a writer/author? Tbh if Toyotaro didn't work on the broly manga too then the T.O.P manga would've been 100× better since he would've taken more time to improve.
MUI in the manga feels so underwhelming In the anime it worked, it was an event, manga just happens, then suddenly dissapears it had little impact in the fight
I'm surprised you didn't mention the manga/anime difference on Goku & Vegeta's teamwork, where in the anime the fact that they're so out of sync is what throws Jiren off, but in the manga they say that their constant 2v1 sparring with Whis has consolidated their teamwork
@@자시엘-l1s yet I don't see you saying the same thing towards animetards, if they're not open-minded and appreciate Toyotaro's work then they'll gonna complain every single manga that comes out, I'm not gonna be surprised if y'all going be hating on the broly manga as well.
@@자시엘-l1s not saying they should appreciate everything that he's doing, but there's plenty of things that are better than the anime but animetards or manga haters are total hypocrites and refuse to accept that and just bashing it as usual. An example when kefla was fighting blue Goku every one hated it and it didn't make sense yet when when kefla fought Gohan and Gohan was doing so well now they're like "what that doesn't make sense kefla should be stronger" you see what I'm getting at? They're more on hating rather appreciating. Not only that but people that like kale, are now hating manga kale even tho she was treated better.
It’s definitely an improvement over the previous chapters, only wish the ending wasn’t so trash having base Goku and Vegeta beat up on jiren..jiren don’t even look that fatigued
Its pretty clear by now that Toyotaro is an art man, not a story man. The manga ToP is without a doubt worse than the anime. For as long as it was, stuff that happened in the anime felt like it matterd, shit happened and they lingered on it long enough to make the consequences of everyone’s actions feel like they had weight. Even Universe 2 had a proper send off and proper fights that made their existence in the ToP feel earned. Of course this wasn’t always the case but it was for the most part. In the manga you could have replaced everyone not from U7 or 6 as well as those not named Jiren, Toppo and Dyspo with faceless dummies and nothing would change. Nothing matters, no one matters in this whole manga. Even Goku getting MUI felt like it was completely random. Talk shit about Toei and the Anime ToP all you want, but you cannot say their ToP was worse than the manga.
The Tournament of Power in the manga has been garbage ever since the beginning. Kale alone being able to beat a character like Aniraza? Frieza eliminating Tien before he could get any eliminations? Just personal preferences and powerscaling issues really, but it still sucks big, fat eggs.
I can't get over Piccolo getting knocked out by some random bug (who didn't live up to exception's) was probably part of Akira's original manuscript... for shame!.
@@sonGoku-cv4mz It's just such a jump from the anime, where Aniraza was able to beat the shit out of 5 SSB level characters. Either this means they nerfed Aniraza due to laziness/time constraints, or Kale was seriously buffed.
There’s a reason the manga is “supplementary promotional material.” It’s crazy that Toyo sucks so bad with telling a story when he has the story outline already laid out for him. I can’t believe how bad his manga is when it’s based on the same source material as the anime.
So Goku literrally just blinks and he is in Full Ultra Instinct. After what, just tapping and fighting for the first time for a couple of seconds? Because he didn't even fight in his first time. Yeah, talk about lazyness and asspulls.
Like the original SSJ and SSJ2? Dont be biased just because the anime camr first. Vegeta was able to fight normally in his new form after obtaining it seconds ago. Ssj Goku was able to beat Frieza, Gohan was able to beat Cell. Just because the anime decided to make UI an on-off transformation couple of times more doesnt make it the way UI was intended to be. That said, the entire obtaining UI from spiritbomb exploding to your face is the biggest asspull of all because that doesnt even relate to Ultra Instinct in any way. Like, what? It is completely random. SSBE seems to be the natural progression of the saiyan transformations so if anything, pushing through your limits should mean unlocking that form. Ultra Instinct is a state of being, not a transformation and they failed to portray it as so in the anime. In the manga it might have seemed lame how he got UI for the first time compared to the anime, but in the manga it meant so much more and had logic behind it unlike the anime. These shows are not supposed to be just cool, they have to have logic in them. (UI Roshi was too much, not denying that, but his point was true and very impactful)
I mean, if you have no type of analysis of what Goku was doing; sure. He blinked into Ultra Instinct, but can you even attempt to read *more* into that single panel and attempt to see and/or make an inference as to what Goku's doing? He literally explained that he just let go of "unnecessary emotions" for the omen form, so then what could Goku be doing to obtain the silver-haired form? Think about it before you jump the manga-bash train.
AmPenguin andTurtleHybrid Well since the Anime showcased Goku going deeper and deeper in letting his instincts take control, to the point of fighting with his eyes closed. At least there was actual build up and signs that Ultra Instinct can be taken even higher. The Manga really is just a "POOF Transformation" moment.
Grydon! Okay, here's my thoughts on this: 1. Ultra Instinct was shown through the Spirit Bomb explosion to convey that Goku achieved the power in an unconventional way. Considering he's a Mortal, gaining a power even G.o.D.s find hard to obtain should be out of possibility. That's why Ultra Instinct being unlocked by breaking the body's natural limits makes more sense. I would be more willing to believe it's better in the Manga if there was time devoted to Goku considering the possibility of tapping into Ultra Instinct, instead of it being mostly instantaneous. 2. Super Saiyan Blue Evolution seems to be much more comparable to Ascended Super Saiyan, just an upgrade to a previous transformation rather than being an entirely new one. Not really breaking mortal limits, just forcing Blue a step further. But the most ridiculous one: 3. "Like the original SSJ and SSJ2?" You're right, this scene is comparable to those ones. I totally remember Goku just staring down Frieza and blinking into Super Saiyan (No dead Krillins or build up at all), or when Gohan POOFED into Super Saiyan 2 while facing down Cell (Also no build up or dead people).
MaleficKing the number 3. Was for your comment that Goku should not have been able to use the form so effectively so quickly. All of those other transformations were used perfectly right after unlocking. And again, UI is not a transformation you need to see people die or stess your body, it is a state of mind
Feel like there a lot of points here that geekdom missed. For example in regards to how goku and vegeta's training from whis was addressed in addition to the "flaw" of Jiren which was address by belmod and the revelation of why Jiren became a pride trooper. I think these were pivotal story points in the manga and was really looking forward to hearing these discussed.
Manga jiren doesn't even feel like some big threat. He seems like just another guy they have to beat Anime jiren seemed like some insurmountable mountain that everyone threw everything at and did nothing to. I still remember when goku laid ki mines around the arena and big papa j just walked through them like a badass. No badass moments for jiren in the manga or anything with him at all.
Anime Jiren also didnt make sense. I never felt satisfied that they weared him down because they gave him too many moments of: "Hes unleashing his real strength!" When he finally was worn down it just felt like a switch. A plot switch that said its time for Goku to be a contender. I prefer the anime. I don't care about having my fight scenes dragged out and longer like the anime. I want them to make sense before shoving Rule Of Cool ever damn 5 minutes
@@YharoTorres anime jiren still felt more satisfying than manag jiren. What has manga jiren done to deserve the all the hype of being stronger than a god of destruction compared to his anime counter part? I don't really care of making sense because both the anime and manga don't make any sense so i'm in it for the bad ass fights which the anime did extremely well for jiren, much better than the manga that's for sure.
@@oner64 manga jiren managed to last against an ultra instinct Goku who was even called a god IN THIS VERY CHAPTER. By Whis, no less. Jiren is also the fighter who has fought multiple God level opponents this tournament. Goku and Vegeta have had significantly less fights in comparison to manga Jiren, and also their anime counterparts I guess. Jiren is still being 2vs1'd just like in the manga and its still implied he has a massove power advantage thats only being offset by teamwork. Even Whis in the past considered a paired Goku and Vegeta to be trouble against Beerus as a possibility. Manga Jiren is so far comparable to manga Gods of Destruction. Anime Gods of Destruction are so ill defined in comparison so that could mean anything. The manga has at least shown Gods fighting each other and Beerus rematching Vegets to try to indicate relative power level. If ur just SOLEY in it for the Rule of Cool, im surprised u read manga at all cause this pacing isnt that far off compared to other battle manga. Most JoJo fights last 2 chapters as an example
@@YharoTorres manga jiren has done nothing impressive. Goku and vegeta were called gods since they obtained blue so that's nothing special. The gods in the anime have threatened to destroy the both their repective universes multiple times. Beerus and champa fought and whis and vados had to step in twice before both universes were destroyed. Beerus with a tap of his finger and zero effort destroyed half a planet in the anime. already that is better than anything manga beerus has done since by scaling he would be able to do much more being half serious like he was in the manga Jiren has done nothing. He rung out multiple fighters who are i'll defined in power and could be weaker than krillen for all we know in the manga. Both anime and manga jiren are stated to be stronger than gods of destruction but only anime jiren has the feats to back it up. Manga jiren had trouble with omen ui something anime jiren didn't have too much of a problem dealing with in the end. Anime jiren shook the infinite realm of the world of void just by his mere presence something that manga jiren pales in comparison to. 4 god level fighters fought anime jiren and he toyed with with all of them like they were nothing. Anime jiren blinked away a spiritbomb composed of the energy of multiple god level fighters and other high tier fighter. Manga jiren is having trouble with two. Seriously manga jiren has done nothing impressive compared to anime jiren even his backstory is better. I rather have his entire family and village be destroyed in the anime than is whiny notice me senpai back story in the manga. Jojo fights are better overall than almost anything in dragon both because they are badass and because araki can do meticulous strategy well. Gyro zepelli vs funny valentine, or jolyn kujo vs enrico pucci or weather report come to mind.
@@oner64 Ur problem is u conveniently equate an anime character with being as strong as manga character when it conveniences you; then, u disassociate the counterparts when it helps ur points. Anime gods casually destroying the universe was arguably bad writing considering how both manga and anime have gods fight each other right after. But now ur using it as a bench mark in powerscaling and writing. Dude..... theres no point in arguing if ur gonna cherry pick
I really liked when goku and vegeta both landed a punch and pushed jiren back and then smiled and the fact that they were in base made even more satisfying.
The anime made Omen so awesome that MUI was underwhelming because of how many attacks it took, Omen in the manga took some hits and wasn’t perfect so MUI was a huge step up especially in the offensive side
True, but then you also have to put Omen (anime) into perspective; before the Omen reveal Jiren didn't even consider anyone even worth his time or any serious attention. The Omen Goku vs Jiren was more or less Jiren deciding that this form was at least worth him putting in some effort. Much of the reason why MUI (anime) was underwhelming is because it MUI Goku vs Jiren was at a point when non-UI people had started hitting Jiren and damaging him; so it wasn't as much of an impossible foe at that point.
Love all your content, it even got me into actually reading the manga myself and came to figure out you leave out little stuff that maybe big example when Goku and Vegeta teams up everybody is in awe of it because they are doing so well as a team and the other god of destruction makes a comment on it by saying that's why jiren never got his master's approval because he didn't know teamwork, in fact that it was jiren's master who told him to join the pride troppers. At least in my opinion I think that's a big part of jiren story. Doing a great job, love the channel.
"Vegeta got shafted" sorry but no he did everything he could do he was done amazingly in the Anime and he wasn't about "MUH PRIIIDDEEE" like how he is in the manga like bruh he literally yelled "MUH PRIIIDEEE" and got a new form what kind of shit is that lol atleast in the Anime he got Evolution by wanting to win for his family and his disciple
Ashbrat Sharma Everyone forgets Android 17. Goku’s stands were literally fille with former enemies, save Roshi and Gohan. Even Krillin was Goku’s bully up till their first tournament together. When I realized that 2 of the villains from Goku’s most transformative sagas were fighting alongside him, I felt like I was literally about to cry I shit you not. It shows just how far Goku has come, and seeing as I grew up with Dragonball and Dragonball Kai, that’s a lot to see.
The minor problem is that there is too much going on in each DBS chapter, mainly the fighting scenes where most of the cells are bunched together on one page. If he maybe used 4-6 cells on a single page, it would make more sense and helps the reader understand what's going on. Look at Toriyama's old DBZ mangas for example.
This was an improvement from his previous chapters but that’s not saying a ton. I have no complaints apart from two instances. The first one being Goku going from Ultra Instinct Omen to Ultra Instinct. There was little buildup/elaboration to how he just jumped from one to the other so nonchalantly. Like what was the point of including Omen into the manga if it achieved nothing and had minimal showtime? I feel as thought it would have been better to just have Goku go straight into Ultra Instinct from the jump. My second gripe is how Jiren can go from fighting and possibly knocking Goku out of Ultra Instinct to then being overwhelmed by base Goku and base Vegeta. He wasn’t shown to be getting any massively weaker if he could keep up with Goku moments prior and wasn’t beat down hard before being confronted by them.
I like how Toyo drew Goku much thinner in UI, kinda like he was drawn originally in SSG. Not sure if I prefer it over buff UI, but it still looks really cool!
Of course everyone’s still on the Manga is trash bandwagon but I personally believe that the Manga is good at the storytelling The anime never revealed Jiren’s wish, and they had Goku and Vegeta double teaming Whis for no reason at all. They also came up with the dumb idea that Goku and Vegeta’s teamwork was so bad that it was throwing off Jiren while the manga made Goku and Vegeta’s double teaming against Whis more valuable. Like why would u have Whis go up against both Goku and Vegeta in the anime and say they’re teamwork didn’t improve? Ridiculous To add on, they also added more depth to Jiren’s master, his approval, and Jiren’s desire to get so strong. Not just a “everyone died so I’m gonna train a lot” like the anime. To say that Toyotaro is “really bad” at storytelling may be too much of a stretch
Not to mention the anime notion that u need to be in a desperate situation to clear ur mind and achieve UI? Wouldn’t that make u even more stressed? The manga made more sense since “getting rid of unnecessary emotions” is vital to having a clear mind which is what UI is all about.
The manga is bad, but the end results and lore built in this chapter make the arc make soooo much more sense than the anime did in terms of Jiren's backstory, motive, and wish. When you look past all the flashy animation (when it existed) and fan service in the arc (though it was amazing to see) like goku teaming up with frieza, there were a lot of story points that didnt make sense that the manga parts do a slightly better job at. I wish there was a redone polished version of this arc that took good parts from both media. That would make this arc soooo much better
How come you don't mention that Jiren seeks his master's approval? Or Whis explaining why he had Goku and Vegeta fight him together to build teamwork? As a counter to Jiren whose master wanted him to learn teamwork and he failed. I thought that was a REALLy good connection.
Ok saw translation Liking this chapter Feels nicely prepped up in building to this point Like UI and calm, obvious couldn't do the whole opening scene animation but just saying the thing on how calm he was worked well Jiren tackling the issue and getting more fed up which gets him talking. It feels nicely built up in how he fights, equalizing then powering up beyond it to win which doesn't work cause UI is too adaptable, well almost. We get good dialogue by Whis on how UI like any untrained form drains stamina and will end than just happening randomly, we see Jiren slowly creep to him and character comment on him fighting it on par, we see the non god lvl characters perplexed by the speed which anime ignored Jiren's backstory feels good cause it doesn't feel random. Here, we've been building it since his introduction so his attitude isn't random and even his master isn't our of placed by him previously mentioning him. Even Vermouth works as he's just not accepting to Jiren's limits than angry and shouting The theme of teamwork is nicely done too. Once Goku and Vegeta start working it's similar to anime moment but with a big difference, they actually work well.Toyotaro tied it nicely to the training with Whis and in turn uses it to build Jiren as a character. His master wanting him to learn teamwork because he was probably obsessed with victory after his parents death and needing to understand there was a benefit to teamwork yet never getting it. Even how it comes about feels less forced cause Vermoud is just elaborating on a random comment than needlessly expositioning it out
Goku/Vegeta teaming up to put Jirren down is a good change IMO. It's great in the Anime that Goku and Freiza team up to do it, burying a 20-year feud to save their universe, but Goku/Vegeta's rivalry is at the heart of DBZ/DBS, and having them do it brings things to a more satisfying end.
I'm going to be honest, I still think the Manga stills need improvement before I can see it around it peak in the Future Trunks arc. Last week was another chapter I generally dislike as well. I think the Anime did better as it had more mini stories that while minor is better than nothing from what I'm seeing in the Manga
I know this doesn't have to do with this video, but can something tell me where in Albuquerque nm I can go to see dbs: broly movie... Any suggestions help. Thank you.
12:33 Yeah but everyone said that when the universe 6 tournament ended we should get a travel universe 6 arc or saga. So that is probably not happening ,but hey heros is a thing.
^Toriyama's plot points are pretty vague. Remember the universe 6 tournament? The other went for Kaioken while the other came to SSJG. It's just the execution and well, Toyotaro really dropped the ball on this one so bad.
I know people have been hating on the manga recently, and I'll admit it's not nearly as good as the anime anymore but this particular character was dope as hell to me.
I like the addition of explaining jirens master and his faults etc. other than that the manga chapter wasn’t bad but not really that good either. In my opinion of course.
Ok guys I need help why is this manga only Coming out Just now when the anime has been out for a while is it that the English manga just Came out or something please answer
Regardles of it's flaws the manga is still enjoyable and this manga chapter did great giving explanations amd development, I can't wait to see the next chapter
I wouldn't call this manga terrible or trash. Honestly its kind of refreshing to look at it from different perspective. Plus one cant help but enjoy the Gohan love. Actually got a worth while fight out of him this ark, cant help but compare that.
Wow, I pretty much wasn't expecting that much from the manga anymore, but this chapter has some pretty good moments. It's just a shame that all of this could've been built up a bit better, still the Art was great
*It's not Mastered Ultra Instinct. Goku hasn't mastered it yet, he's just reached the complete form. The complete form is Ultra Instinct. The Uncomplete form is UI Omen.*
As I had expected, Toyotarou gave the best take on both 身勝手の極意 and Jiren. The form has a softer build like that of SSJRed, which contrasts better against Jiren's muscles. He's focused, but isn't drawn into Jiren's seriousness. He's relaxed, more given to smiling and quips because he's seen through the divisions between things. 空を悟った Not 空 as in the ordinary kind of emptiness or vacuum, but the vacuum of being -- shunyata. He is embroiled in the fighting, but at the same time he knows that the fighting is just a drama, something anime seems to allegorize through 4th-wall humor. Jiren's past was a series of three major and somewhat unrelated catastrophes that nullify each other because there is no major catastrophe for the audience to focus on, so what Torotarou does is de-emphasize the death of Jiren's parents by shifting the central problem in Jiren's life onto the loss of his master. Jiren is able to live with himself so long as he is able to embody justice. This allows him to cope with the death of his parents, but only in a very provisional way. His self worth is on credit and he is continually on probation as something that is not fit to exist so long as he lacks his master's blessing. He is able to let go of his parents, but only by shifting the attachment to Giccchin, which leads to further problems in his social life. Where once there were three tragedies, there is now a single iron core of pathology. Like a newtons cradle, the pain is transferred unresolved through each segment of Jiren's life. The quest for power is a reflection of the hamster wheel he has put himself on. The way he expounds on Jiren is seconded only by that of Whis. He uses the same principle of non-resistance present in 身勝手の極意 in his teaching. Goku and Vegeta despise working together for their own reasons, so it;s only natural that teamwork is exactly what they need to improve because it's a place they refuse to investigate, so rather than forcing them to work together, like Gicchen tossing Jiren into the Pride Troopers, he sayes, "You don't want to work together? Fine! Don't work together!" and then harnesses the energy they expend diligently trying not to work together to make them work together. -- The perfect application of the Tao. He doesn't just solve the problem. He does it *beautifully* by making the problem solve itself. You don't want to learn from my as your teacher, Raymond? Fine. Don't learn from me as your teacher. Saves me the trouble of watching your videos or giving you money and feedback. I hope your Japanese studies are going well! I may be overeager in my conclusion since the arc still has a chapter or two remaining, but overall, the manga has a more sedate mood and story, but is intellectually much richer and more detailed. I think people's problems with it arise from the difference in medium rather than the differences in the storytelling. It's just like how people who listen to subs can't stand dubs and vice versa because they've grown to comfortable with one or the other and not because there's anything wrong with the opposite -- but no one ever looks at the opposite set of voices long enough to realize that this is the case and gives criticism. The manga feels much more like a book than a movie -- as well it should -- so it suits me perfectly. It feels rushed in terms of the plot and action and meandering in terms of exposition and character development because those are exactly the strengths that manga is built to play to as compared to anime. Anime has the capacity to render action in jaw dropping detail and fluidity and as a result, anything slower and more thoughtful is looked on as a waste of time, but a manga can only pack so much motion into a single image, so the action shifts out of focus in the plot is delivered more as summary than scene. i will be interesting to see what happens if Toyotarou ever gets the lead on the anime like Toriyama had in the old days instead of the other way around. Either way, I'm very happy with his work and consider it too much of a different category to say that it is better or worse than the anime.
Honestly after seeing the manga I gotta say this chapter made Goku look really badass I think I like him fighting with his shirt torn but his undershirts on than him just having his abs out flexing.
This tournament would have been helped by a weekly chapter release instead of a monthly one. If this were the Dragon Ball manga, the pacing could have been better. Even though he has problems as a writer, what he did with Jiren's story was better than how he was portrayed in the anime.
I feel the anime portrayed ultra instinct omen and mui better than the manga,in the manga it seems more of a powerup with no repercussion at all while in the anime we see the struggle and the toll it takes for goku which is handled much better imo
Toyotaro is like a better version of Rian Johnson. They both can do visuals but neither is known for their writing. Toyotaro is humble, sincere and does his best to help add to the Dragon Ball Super Story. whereas Rian Johnson spits in the face of Star Wars lore, characters, the fanbase and valid criticism
You know what. I'm actually glad they did it this way. Now we have two story lines to choose from. So the people who prefer the manga can go with that, and those with the anime can go with it 😂
I swear if Jiren had said his master was killed by his brother instead of a demon I would have lost it. For a moment I thought Toyo would dare to shitpost.
Agreed, some people are not meant to write, the manga has been a disappointment overall for me with some decent chapters. His drawing is tops but they either need to get a new writer or a group of writers to work together. Akira should have found someone who is already well known with experience in short shonen stories.
"We're reaching the climax of the arc"
You know what? This is the first time i actually realized that. I didn't even think we were near the end even if we reached the MUI. It's all so rushed, emotionless, without any sort of tension whatsoever. Characters got introduced and eliminated so quickly that i completely forgot about them. And how badly they fucked up both Ultra Instinct and Mastered Ultra Instinct is the cherry on the cake
Someone If he was he could have altered the story to fit that but cutting down the cast of the tournament. He could have had half the cast
Same. They shouldnt even bother wishing anyone back. Toyataro's multiverse is an absolute joke, I really hope this rushing and complete disrespect of characters all for that broly arc is worth it.
The levels of cringe will be off the charts watching toyataro try to bring life to his 8 fodder throwaway universes when Toriyama decides its time to start expending them
I love how Manga defenders say they are rushing to get to the important part, and the important part is also rushed.

And I’ve been following dragon ball ever since Roshi had Goku and Krillin moving milk crates so the waters run hella deep homie lol

These manga chapters could seriously be divided into at least 3 chapters.
Swifter2020 yeah but the point is that they’d have to wait even longer to catch up
You mean, to fill in another 135 pages with fight scenes?
Toyataro has proven time and again that he is an artist, not an author. He draws beautifully, but once his drawings start talking things fall apart more often than not. His stories do have their moments but just moments. When Toriyama eventually retires the Dragonball room should probably handle the storytelling.
Anime staffs also do the tracing. Thank you.
And whose going to take care of the story ?Fucking Toei? I rather not after watching and finishing the Super anime.
How can people say that the manga is still better than the anime
Nobody is saying that
Well, it was up until Black's arc
How can people say the anime is even good with its piss poor powerscaling and story overall? Im still waiting for that explanation on Super Saiyan Rage and alot more.

Its hard to believe people actually prefer the manga version but I know some people just have an inherent bias against the anime in general.

The Tournament of Power in the manga has been garbage ever since the beginning.
Kale alone being able to beat a character like Aniraza?
Frieza eliminating Tien before he could get any eliminations?
Just personal preferences and powerscaling issues really, but it still sucks big, fat eggs.
I can't get over Piccolo getting knocked out by some random bug (who didn't live up to exception's) was probably part of Akira's original manuscript... for shame!.
Why is kale beating Aniraza an issue?
How comes a combination of 3 useless robots and 1 mad scientist can't be encountered by 5 great warriors?
@@DeanAmx How does the combination of two weak namekians well below first form freeza level become as strong as second form freeza?
@@sonGoku-cv4mz It's just such a jump from the anime, where Aniraza was able to beat the shit out of 5 SSB level characters.
Either this means they nerfed Aniraza due to laziness/time constraints, or Kale was seriously buffed.
Honestly this chapter was good. Toyataro needs to hire a writer imo.
The tracer/reference heavy artist and his ghost writer.
He has toriyama's script, and an editor of course
This was wayyyyyy better then the anime. Vegeta and goku working together good shit
LMFAO!!! xD
Grydon! Okay, here's my thoughts on this:
But the most ridiculous one:
3. "Like the original SSJ and SSJ2?"
You're right, this scene is comparable to those ones.
I like how he achieved UI, he calmed his thoughts
Feel like there a lot of points here that geekdom missed. For example in regards to how goku and vegeta's training from whis was addressed in addition to the "flaw" of Jiren which was address by belmod and the revelation of why Jiren became a pride trooper. I think these were pivotal story points in the manga and was really looking forward to hearing these discussed.
You know that Geekdom doesnt read the chapters in english, expect a lot of missed information

Manga jiren doesn't even feel like some big threat. He seems like just another guy they have to beat
Anime jiren seemed like some insurmountable mountain that everyone threw everything at and did nothing to. I still remember when goku laid ki mines around the arena and big papa j just walked through them like a badass. No badass moments for jiren in the manga or anything with him at all.
Anime Jiren also didnt make sense.
I never felt satisfied that they weared him down because they gave him too many moments of:
"Hes unleashing his real strength!"
When he finally was worn down it just felt like a switch.

Beerus with a tap of his finger and zero effort destroyed half a planet in the anime. already that is better than anything manga beerus has done since by scaling he would be able to do much more being half serious like he was in the manga
Jiren has done nothing.

Ur problem is u conveniently equate an anime character with being as strong as manga character when it conveniences you; then, u disassociate the counterparts when it helps ur points.
Anime gods casually destroying the universe was arguably bad writing considering how both manga and anime have gods fight each other right after.
But now ur using it as a bench mark in powerscaling and writing.
Dude..... theres no point in arguing if ur gonna cherry pick
I really liked when goku and vegeta both landed a punch and pushed jiren back and then smiled and the fact that they were in base made even more satisfying.

your comment goes with your picture
Glad to hear it's getting a bit better!
In anime , Goku fighting with freza was amazing. Infact they defeated jiren together.
two arch rivals fighting for a cause was great to see.
vegeta and Goku Much Better see last chapters how vegeta get shafted
"Vegeta got shafted" sorry but no he did everything he could do he was done amazingly in the Anime and he wasn't about "MUH PRIIIDDEEE" like how he is in the manga like bruh he literally yelled "MUH PRIIIDEEE" and got a new form what kind of shit is that lol
atleast in the Anime he got Evolution by wanting to win for his family and his disciple

Didn’t he basically do that in the anime tho? Took that deep breath then some galaxy or some shit popped up out of nowhere? Was that ever explained?
Drozzart22 vv the anime dis it better
The action in this chapter was pretty sweet.
It is more in line with how Toriyama draws the characters now.
BuffUI4life
The reason Jiren was hurt so much from that uppercut is because that is where he was stabbed as a baby.

I love how toyo portrayed the vegeta and goku moment, vegeta putting his pride to fight with goku
The art is amazing
How come you dont have the piano dragon ball music playing in the background anymore?
Of course everyone’s still on the Manga is trash bandwagon but I personally believe that the Manga is good at the storytelling
The anime never revealed Jiren’s wish, and they had Goku and Vegeta double teaming Whis for no reason at all.
Ridiculous
To add on, they also added more depth to Jiren’s master, his approval, and Jiren’s desire to get so strong.
Exactly.
*Boooooooooooo* you suck.

I kinda like how the fight went, but not the way goku achieved master UI
The manga is bad, but the end results and lore built in this chapter make the arc make soooo much more sense than the anime did in terms of Jiren's backstory, motive, and wish. When you look past all the flashy animation (when it existed) and fan service in the arc (though it was amazing to see) like goku teaming up with frieza, there were a lot of story points that didnt make sense that the manga parts do a slightly better job at. I wish there was a redone polished version of this arc that took good parts from both media. That would make this arc soooo much better
The manga is going so fast. I knew it was going fast to catch up with the anime but this is fast.

Liking this chapter
Feels nicely prepped up in building to this point
Like UI and calm, obvious couldn't do the whole opening scene animation but just saying the thing on how calm he was worked well
Jiren tackling the issue and getting more fed up which gets him talking. It feels nicely built up in how he fights, equalizing then powering up beyond it to win which doesn't work cause UI is too adaptable, well almost.
We get good dialogue by Whis on how UI like any untrained form drains stamina and will end than just happening randomly, we see Jiren slowly creep to him and character comment on him fighting it on par, we see the non god lvl characters perplexed by the speed which anime ignored
Jiren's backstory feels good cause it doesn't feel random. Here, we've been building it since his introduction so his attitude isn't random and even his master isn't our of placed by him previously mentioning him. Even Vermouth works as he's just not accepting to Jiren's limits than angry and shouting
The theme of teamwork is nicely done too.

I never bothered to read one manga panel and I'm happy I did.
I'm going to be honest, I still think the Manga stills need improvement before I can see it around it peak in the Future Trunks arc. Last week was another chapter I generally dislike as well.

Wow, I pretty much wasn't expecting that much from the manga anymore, but this chapter has some pretty good moments. It's just a shame that all of this could've been built up a bit better, still the Art was great
On December 20, 2018 toyotaro is doing a manga special after the release of the broly movie.
*It's not Mastered Ultra Instinct. Goku hasn't mastered it yet, he's just reached the complete form. The complete form is Ultra Instinct. The Uncomplete form is UI Omen.*
I gotta say I love that they made whoever killed Jirens matter a demon. Hopefully we'll get a demon realm arc or arcs
Toriyama probably don't know that his community had a drama.
Goku: **breaths in**
MUI Goku: boi
As I had expected, Toyotarou gave the best take on both 身勝手の極意 and Jiren.
The form has a softer build like that of SSJRed, which contrasts better against Jiren's muscles. He's focused, but isn't drawn into Jiren's seriousness. He's relaxed, more given to smiling and quips because he's seen through the divisions between things. 空を悟った
Not 空 as in the ordinary kind of emptiness or vacuum, but the vacuum of being -- shunyata.
Goku and Vegeta despise working together for their own reasons, so it;s only natural that teamwork is exactly what they need to improve because it's a place they refuse to investigate, so rather than forcing them to work together, like Gicchen tossing Jiren into the Pride Troopers, he sayes,
"You don't want to work together?
Kinda feel like you left a lot of info out of your review
I wonder if there's gonna be manga version of the movie.
I feel like the manga should be ahead of the anime
Completed Ultra Instinct looks better with the blue shirt on (like one of the Heroes preview)
I feel the anime portrayed ultra instinct omen and mui better than the manga,in the manga it seems more of a powerup with no repercussion at all while in the anime we see the struggle and the toll it takes for goku which is handled much better imo
I mean if you want to show manga panels, just alter them by taking out all the texts in the bubbles or squares they're in.
I'm surprised you didn't comment on how strange it is that right after jiren got goku out of ui he was getting beat up by base form goku and vegeta
You know what. I'm actually glad they did it this way. Now we have two story lines to choose from. So the people who prefer the manga can go with that, and those with the anime can go with it 😂
Bro why don't u ever put a freaking link to read the manga
Didnt vegeta go ssbe last chapter
I swear if Jiren had said his master was killed by his brother instead of a demon I would have lost it. For a moment I thought Toyo would dare to shitpost.
They really should get an writer to help out here, let the artist just make artwork.
Agreed, some people are not meant to write, the manga has been a disappointment overall for me with some decent chapters. His drawing is tops but they either need to get a new writer or a group of writers to work together. Akira should have found someone who is already well known with experience in short shonen stories.
