Southern Five Flavor Pound Cake Recipe

This classic recipe is so easy to make and the crumb texture is AMAZING! It just melts in your mouth! Feel fret swap out for different extract flavors, but you just can go wrong with the flavors of coconut, rum, lemon, vanilla and butter!!
You can even get all fancy and throw in some real rum, lemon zest, shredded coconut and vanilla bean if you want, but bring down the extract amount a bit so that's it's not over powering.

I grew up in Alabama. My grandmother has made a version of this cake my whole life. It's my favorite dessert.

Absolutely delicious pound cake!!! Thank you, Ms. Diva. I (and my family) love pound cake and I have a favorite family recipe that I regularly make. I have been searching out other pound cakes. Finally, I found your cake recipe as another keeper. It is so light and fluffy on the inside. Honestly, I did not prefer the five flavors the first few hours after it was baked. The next day... oh, my God! It was so delicious. The rum calmed down and all the flavors blended perfectly. Don't sleep on this recipe everyone.

Yep our family has a SIX flavor cake! All those plus almond. Fantastic when it sits for at least two days. Not sure why it's so much better TWO days late but it is agony to wait.

This is my 1st time hearing of a 5 or 6 flavored pound cake. Can you taste all the flavors? (I don't like lemon flavored anything).
NaturallyTiTi you can't taste them individually except for the almond, which is a strong extract to begin with. So I'd you attempt it just go easy on the almond. It doesn't remotely taste like lemon, oddly enough!

I baked a 5 flavor pound cake before using a different recipe and it was amazing. Tasted even better the next day. You can also make this into a 7 flavor pound cake. I'll make this cake using your recipe next time.

This cake is everything similar to mine minus the glaze and I use cake flour. I look forward to adding the rum and butter extract as well.

I have been making this cake for years but I like your idea about using half and half and buttermilk. Ive just been using whole milk all this time.

One of my favorites...I add 8 ounces cream cheese to batter....so very good!
I use 1 cup water, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tsp. all five flavors, boiled together for my icing....very good.
YUM!
And I gotta have ice cream with cake too lol
