I had to run from bank tó bank for ATM withdrawal!! Failed miserably as no money was in circulation!! I had to stand in line with my diseased body and couldn't get my money !! Had to wait fór long !! Like me, thousands of old aged people suffered inhuman treatment .....only due to the callus and arrogant attitude of a particular person named Narendra Modi!!! Honourablé judges know very well about it!! Can't they apprehend that criminal who destroyed the whole country's peace and tranquility just to satisfy his beloved corporate friends???

What PC as ex FM imply is that with the connivance of bank officials only 47 crores worth of counterfeit currencies could be made white . His regret is rest of the counterfeit currencies could not made as white..a great loss to the peddalers.....

The first demonetisation event happened in 1946, at that time the denominations of Rs.1000 and Rs.10000 were removed from circulation.
There was a visibly low impact of the demonetisation as the higher denomination currencies were not available to the common people.
In 1954, these notes were again introduced with an additional denomination of 5000.
May the court ponder over the merits of Mr Chidambaram's submissions n pass it's appropriate order.

Isn't it know to the government that demonitizan of 1000 Rupee notes in 1978, the 1000 rupee currency notes were exchange out of bank at as low as Rs.250\ in markets in Bombay & other cities. I know this since I was a Bank officer then working in a posh branch in Bombay.
The RBI exchanged legal currency with fake currency. It's called a paradoxical joke.

the fake currencies were exchanged with legal currency post-demonetization.
So instead of eliminating totally, 47Cr fake currencies got converted as legal tender. That is counterproductive to the stated objective! In the heat of argument, PC missed to state this.
Since the BJP govt was in talks with RBI for six months before the demonetization announcement, we can be absolutely certain that Modi and his BJP cronies( and their relatives etc) would have exchanged or deposited their future demonetized notes comfortably before all the chaos that mainly affected the common man. And they say leaders look for their people's welfare. Not in India,they don't. Demonetization was not a success because of its effect on the common man, on the economy and because the 2000 rupees printed instead of 1000 rupees gave a better chance to crooks to hoard even more money.

In February, 2019, the then former finance minister Piyush Goyal told Parliament that Rs 1.3 lakh crore black money has been recovered through all anti-black money measures including demonetisation. Remember, the government had originally expected that at least Rs3-4 lakh crore black money will get extinguished outside the banking system due to demonetisation exercise alone.
Thus, data suggests that demonetization was a failure in unearthing the black money in the system.
Just check RBI report. What Mr. Chidamparam is saying is correct.

One more national loss we are overlooking. For exchange of old notes, crores of people had to keep on standing in queues for 5-6 hours a day for months.These people in other days must have been doing something or producing something which they could not. Hence the productivity of 30-40 percent of the population for months was lost for ever which is huge.
So now it's led to high inflation and now recession!
Some even died in queue during the exchange process
Do not vote again for same people and expect better results.
P Chidambaram is dimwitted in this exchange. The whole exchange after 8:30 till 10 is so stupid from Chidambaram.
The judges have repeatedly voiced the opinion that major amount counterfeit currency would not be exchanged (out of fear).
The counterfeit currency (of substance) constitutes the fake notes in circulation. No one would print fake currency and keep them stored safely. These are passed into the possession of the common man who does not recognise the note(s) as fake. These notes were exchanged by them without hesitation at the branches during the window for this purpose (after 8/11). They were discovered and counted by the branch/RBI
.
Any counterfeit currency printed but not put into circulation up to and including the end of the exchange window, is irrelevant. For sake of argument, say, half a trillion in value fake notes was printed but not passed on to the common man (not in circulation) and therefore, could not be circulated nor exchanged after the window and therefore became wastepaper is a fallacious as it was wastepaper until passed on to the common man for circulation.
In short, fake currency to a very large extent is passed on immediately and not kept ‘under the pillow’.
The objective to remove fake currency by demonetising the 500 & 1000 notes failed on account of proportionality as the count of discovered fake notes exchanged was disproportionately low. Any reference to any quantum of fake notes that were never put into circulation is academic, at best.

The quantum of fake currency not in circulation is not of any consequence. Millions or trillions is speculative and a waste of breath.
The counterfeiters will circulate fake notes. And these fake notes will to a certain extent damage the economy.

That’s not what I’m pointing to. I’m pointing to all the fake currency in circulation, and then rejected by banks . How much was that ?
@@amaladasu From the currency returned to the banks and found to be fake amounted to 0.02% or something like that, if I remember correctly. In other words, proportionally way too low to call for demonetisation. Apparently, a far greater percentage has been detected by banks post demonetisation. (Source: Internet search).

With all humility, Mr PC was completely wrong in his views abt ₹47 cr and the bal of counterfeit notes.. He had no clue of what he was talking abt which the learned judge repeatedly pointed out, but PC couldn't understand..
His opening was, therefore , quite weak.
His arguments later on reversal of powers were quite strong, but yet to watch Government's response to it.

Demonetisation should keep happening to force people to not accept fake currency or to guide them into Digital transactions. They would bring a fear that my currency may be rejected by bank if I don’t check .

It should not be forgotten that the basis for the demonization was because of utter breakdown of integrity and the endemic corruption in the country. I agree that demonetization should have been implemented better but had to be done undoubtedly. But quite understanding that the master of corruption is against demonetization!
How do you say master of corruption talks about demonetisation as if he is convicted? You are not able to appreciate the finesse of his presentation. If his deposition is wrong, point out the same. Who is responsible for the hundreds of deaths of innocent citizens trying to exchange their currency notes.? You don't blame those who were responsible for this terrible tragedy.
