I dare say, the best of my generation grew up to become engineers and doctors and even cricketers, because those were the role models we followed. Man, nepotism is there and will be there in every field, till we decide to beat nepotism with meritocracy. If young kids start appearing for NLU rather than IIT and medical, I'm pretty sure nepo-kids wouldn't stand a chance. Having said that, if justice DYCs father was also the cji, does not necessary imply that he is not deserving. Judge him purely for the judgements he gives, and not for who his father was. Now, that will be meritocratic.

India has a good chief justice in the SC. Indian justice system is in safe hands, thankfully. 👍🌞 Chief Justice spoke very briefly and conveyed monumentally. Certainly food for thought as well as a good model to the present and future judges.🫡 Collegium system is good and effective. Collegium system is based on competence while EC selection system is required to be based on consensus. All sensitive constitutional positions differ widely in terms of the nature of responsibility as well as the outcomes that they can genrate to enhance the credibility of the institutions they head and strengthen the confidence they will instill in the citizens. It is very rarely that personalities of your caliber and stature find themselves at the center of a political cyclone of astronomical proportions with the power and responsibility to steer it's trajectory! Is it wise (1) to play safe to save your father's legacy or (2) roll up your sleeves to do the real work to establish a new legacy for yourself ? YOU DECIDE , SIR!

Collegium system is good and effective. Collegium system is based on competence while EC selection system is required to be based on consensus. All sensitive constitutional positions differ widely in terms of the nature of responsibility as well as the outcomes that they can genrate to enhance the credibility of the institutions they head and strengthen the confidence they will instill in the citizens.
India needs to listen to such luminaries from every walks of life not just from politics, diplomats, security professionals, historians, actors, spokespersons, critiques etc.
