Love that you included the shot of L.A. City Hall's tribute to West at the end. On a lark I decided to swing by there after work that evening and I'll never forget the atmosphere. Los Angeles had become Gotham City for an evening. Huge crowds of Adam West fans, young and old were gathered. A couple of batmobile reproductions and a huge bat signal prop. L.A.'s mayor and Burt Ward made speeches. Was a fitting tribute to the man who gave inspiration and more than a few laughs to so many.
I always thought, that in the episode, where it looked like Batman was about to "close the deal" with Catwoman (Julie Newmar) but asked "What about Robin?", & Catwoman replied something like "We'll have him killed", causing Batman to back off, that Batman should have gone ahead, compromised his principles & sold out Robin, because scoring with the beautiful Catwoman, would have been totally worth it!!!
Such a funny scene!
No, man. It's bro's before ho's.
@ronaldschild157 That's not what A Pimp Named Slickback said on "The Boondocks"!
Rest in Peace Adam West ,you are missed!
❤️ Adam west
That Batman and Robin song..I havent heard that in...forever!!😊😊😊😊
"Holy High-Speed Internet Batman! Are we back in action?!" "Yes Robin. The Joker's evil plot to highjack the internet has been foiled again."
I'm glad they got to make those two animated movies before Adam West died.
Me too!
Burt DEFINITELY carried the, "WEIGHT" of Adam's passing....
Hollywood 360 still uses Adam West's voice in the shows intro every week .Its a pocast
adio show.
Holy sadness,Batman
3:00 😲 🎹🎼🎵🎶🎸🎷🎶🎵🎼
Nice 🎉
Thanks 🤗
Still baffles me that health insurance could be tied your work. It should not matter. RIP to all. 🥲
R.I.P to the one and only Adam West.🙏
Truly one of the greatest ever. 🙂
Rest In Peace Adam West.
Adam West and Burt Ward were an unbeatable dynamic duo against sinister villains. When you've starred on a famous crime fighting series and your co-star passes away that's like losing a family member.
They truly were quite the team. 🙂
@@jdsundstrom😢agreed
Born in 1962, as a kid, I loved the show, but, when I was older and watched it again, it blew me away. It is a wonderful comedy. "Camp humor," they called it. Everything played straight with no laugh track, and Adam West knew exactly how to play the role. I am glad he was able to parody himself on "Family Guy.," and that he and Burt Ward once again were able to reprise their roles in two animated cartoons shortly before Adam West passed.
Adam & Burt also reprised their roles as Batman & Robin in a 1977 animated series on CBS-TV Saturday morning.
Adam was Batman's voice at the end of Superfriends but Casey Kasem was still Robin.
The newer versions of the caped crusader might be darker and grittier but Adam West was the best Batman. RIP
As someone who grew up with the incomparable Kevin Conroy that's a tough call. But West definitely put his own stamp on the character and became iconic from it.
A BatMan video always gets my attention. One of the most influential TV series in the history of television. Such a big admirer of West and Ward. This show was such an important piece of my upbringing and such fond memories are attached to it. It is a shame that Adam passed away, one of my childhood idols gone. We are unfortunately faced with the sad truth that eventually Burt will join him in Bat-Heaven. I thought your 'musical surprise' at the end was going to be Adam West singing-he had a couple of minor hits 'Miranda' and 'You Only See Her'. Plus he did a version of 'Orange Colored Sky' as BatMan for the 'Hollywood Palace' TV variety show. Have you seen the TV biopic 'Back To The Batcave'? It details all the behind the scenes predicamants while filming the TV show. Quite well done and worth your time. Have a great day Dave and thanks for the reminiscence.
I really enjoyed "Back to the Batcave" and Adam's book that the TV movie was based on was even better. Thanks for the great comment!
Adam West death surprised us all he will always be the one and truly Batman love that old Batman series classic him and burt ward are the ultimate crime fighting duo
I love ❤️ batman and Robin and all the characters the butler and auntie
Holy sadness Batman!
It's nice to know these to actors had a great relationship. We hear way too often about actors that really didn't get along well. RIP Adam West, and to Burt Ward, sorry for your loss.
Even though I never met Adam I didn’t take his death well cause I may not be into Batman as much as I am if it wasn’t for Adam and the show and movie over the 34 year I have been a Batman fan my love of Batman grew into a love for the character in general but my heart will always be with the series and movie cause that’s what my 5 year old self first saw and it’s become a mission for me to see every television and movie appearance Adam has done
Adam West was my favorite Batman
Rest well
Lovely tribute to Adam West I've briefly met few years in London Film and Comic Con like Christopher Reeve both icons sadly missed but there legend lives on through us the fans and through there co stars, friends and family.
I'm glad they decided to include Adam West in "The Flash", that was a great homage to him - just goes to show the kind of impact he made and is still making.
I definitely agree with Burt Ward! I grew up watching Batman and Robin! Even when you know someone lived a long life, as he did, you still feel it was too short. My Mom was just 2 years younger than him and passed away in 2019; so I know how he feels. Burt, remember all the good times with Adam. I know from experience how much that helps. I know it brings me joy.
Thank You, Dave for all the memories you share.
One thing I learned about Burt Ward is that he briefly got out of Acting and got into promo work. One of his major projects was being one of the promotional directors of the band ABBA for their one and only tour of the United States and Canada in 1979
Rest in Peace Adam West, the Batman of my primary school days, the Batman of my generation( I was born in 1961) and many more generations.
Adam West had the awesome ability to poke fun at himself on shows like Fairly Oddparents in his cameo as Cat Man, and Family Guy in his cameo as Mayor West.
His best cameo was on Batman The Animated Series as young Bruce Wayne's TV hero, The Grey Ghost.
Yep he did play Simon Trent the actor who played the grey ghost in my favorite Batman the animated series episode beware of the grey ghost it’s my favorite cause of Adam’s cameo
Dave should try to get an interview with Burt Ward while he is still among us.
I love Micheal Keaton but Adam West was the best
It’s defiantly still sad that Adam West is gone. May he rest in peace.
And this is why do many ppl loved I mean love Adam West and I'm no exception I had the pleasure of meeting him he really was a remarkable man I first heard about his death after I just got finished watching Wonder woman which is funny I was watching a super hero movie and an actor played a super died even though the Flash wasn't that good a movie the only thing I liked about it was the tribute to Christopher Reeve, Helen Slater from the 1984 Supergirl Movie I was really surprised to have seen George Reeves, Nicholas Cage was a nice touch too but the one thing that really touched my heart was seeing Adam West Batman fought escaped many death traps, but the one death trap he couldn't escape from is leukemia and to this day I never got over his death he was like a father to me.
I miss him.
Adam West
1928-2017.
Great trip down memory lane for me. Great look alike. I love when television was innocent and clean. There is too much smut on TV now.
💯, I'm tried,too
You've got to look harder...but there's still some good stuff out there.
@@jdsundstrom Okay I can agree with that but shows from my childhood was so much fun 😀
@willa. I couldn't have phrased it better. Years back my older brother used to tell me about all these new shows he viewed and asked me if I watched them and I replied by saying no. I started my own DVD 📀 Collection of older shows and don't let my life be dictated by a T.V. guide or any scheduled programs.
@@bruce8808 Yes !!! DVD is freedom. It's all of what you decide..I use to enjoy the commercials of my favorite shows but now the advertisement annoys me. DVD are Great! You can skip all the nonsense. Take care
I'll never forget that Adam West actually died 16 days before my father... 😔
I met Adam West and Burt Ward at a convention in Pittsburgh back in 2015 and they were the nicest celebrities that I have ever met. I grew up watching Batman on reruns since elementary school and I always enjoyed watching all 120 episodes. When I went to the convention, I had broghten along with me my Batman tv box and they both signed it where it is still up on my shelf to this day
Burt Ward has gained a lot of weight. Is he having any health issues?
It was a sad day when I heard that Adam West had died…..
It’s like I lost another part of my childhood.
That music number at the end of the video was priceless, typical of the Batman tv show….
The villains name was the “Tickler”? I wonder, was he Hispanic?
While other actors played Batman before and after Adam West, he’s the man when it comes to playing the Caped Crusader!
Adam West was the definitive Batman in my book
Really well done Mr.Dave!! It's easy to see that you really care! It's appropriate, because Batman really cared! I'm hurling it into the ventilation system! Too Much!!
Adam West was the true Batman. It was a thing good that he suggested that Robin shouldn't be written out of the script. Because in today's movies Robin isn't at Batman's side Batman is a Lone Crusader. On one movie Robin did appear but that was it. Thanks Dave for sharing this story with us.
Adam West was the best Batman!
West was in a cheesy martial arts movie called Omega Cop shot in Stockton CA my home town in 1990.
What a great video! I remember watching Batman as a kid and never would miss an episode. That song at the end is awesome! I'm just wondering what is was from? And when was it made? It's obvious that it isn't Burt Ward with Adam in the clip.
Just as there is only one Superman, George Reeves, there is only one Batman, Adam West.
And that music video - W T F was that? Sat here slack jawed and wide eyed as my mind tried to make sense of the 80’s styled video!
I will always want to know who would have played the members of the Outsiders with Adam West Batnans Outsiders
I just wish "Green Hornet" would have gone at least ONE more season!
Me too!
He was 88 not trying to sound bad however we don't live forever many don't make it to 25 let alone 88.
Sad to say Burt Ward is the last surviving cast member of Batman. At least L.A. honored Adam after his death by shining the Bat Signal in the night sky.
Julie Newmar is still around. 🙂
John Astin played the Riddler in season 2 and he's also still alive
Adam West was the best Mayor of Quahog I've ever seen.
I have no recollection of that song, Batman and Robin. 😗
Yes its sad, but there is a day that the time is to come and than good bye my friend and everybody.
This world would be a better place if we all have True I got your back friends and good mentors in our lives.
So very true!
Westernkinds culture and empathy is amazing!
Thanks for the comment!
I don't think I've ever heard that Batman song before. When did that song come out?
In comics or any medium I like the Batman character whether he's working alone or with Robin. However in this series, cutting out Robin would've been a mistake. Constant dialogue with Robin was where a majority of the humor came from. Cutting out Robin would have meant killing a formula that made the show work in the first place.
I grew up reading comics in the 1970's when Batman operated without Robin 95% of the time, so to me Batman is primarily a solo hero. But the 1960's TV show version MUST have Robin by his side. They are inseparable.
He passed away like 6 years ago
Adam West was considered for the James Bond role In Her Majesty's Secret Service. R. I. P. Adam West
I could see that working.
That would have been great! Adam and Diana Rigg!!! Dream team to be sure.
He had to settle for The Girl Who Knew Too Much with the yummy Nancy Kwan. Not a bad consolation prize, to be sure.
Not British American miscast
Adam West was doing pretty well still working conventions April 2017 before he died 2 months later at age 88. He was still mentally sharp and went relatively quickly. Burt thought he had many more years but who knows what the quality of those years would have been.
Rest In Peace, Adam West🌹
A Sad Loss.😥
So true!
There's an old TV show "The Detectives" with Robert Taylor that has a great theme. When the show aired, Taylor was a huge movie star ("Quo Vadis"). Pretty crazy how nobody remembers Taylor but everybody on the planet knows two other actors on the show, Tige Andrews and Adam West.
Thanks for sharing!
The guy who played Don West on Lost In Space was also in The Detectives.
😢🦇🌆🪦
🙏
When Adam West guest starred on ZORRO in 1990, playing the part of a traveling salesman who discovered Zorro’s hideout, he tipped a hat to his TV series, BATMAN,by replying “a bat cave! How marvelous!”
I loved watching Batman when I was a kid. It was definitely the highlight for most of us children. Considering it starred two of the very worst actors in all of Hollywood history it's still has left a memorable and joyful experience of my youth😅
Adam West was born & died the same years as my dad. They had nice long lives though.
I'm pretty sure that was Adam West as Batman at the end, but someone other than Burt Ward was playing Robin. It's a catchy tune.
Burt Ward and Adam West were forever be the Dynamic duo Dave.👩💕🦇 🐦
Adam West's Batman was like my gateway drug to the world of superheroes. Although now that darn song will be stuck in my head all day. 😅
Holy cow! I’ve never heard that song before! It’s awesome!
Can I ask what that video/song was (where they go after the Tickler)?
The song was distributed in the U.K. by Target Records. Somehow, they convinced Adam West to put back on the cowl for this pre-MTV music video.
@@jdsundstrom What was the name of the song?
ADAM WEST IS THE BEST BATMAN ACTOR
He will always be my favorite.
Dave,
Where is that Tickler bit from?
A variety show over in the U.K. I can't remember the title at the moment.
@jdsundstrom
Always thought it would have been cool if a villain used tickling on the Dynamic Duo during the '60's series.
How could he call it untimely? He was 88 years old!
Where did you get that music video towards the end of the video from?
Their cameo on SpongeBob SquarePants was a wonderful tribute to the Dynamic Duo.
Huge fan of this 60s tv show 😊
Dave:
Strong presentation; it's nice to know that sometimes co-stars actually become caring friends of each other and not simply "co-stars" on/of a television series.
Also, have you ever produced a presentation which discusses "The Differences" which you mentioned Burt Ward and Adam West had while they were making the "Batman" television series?
Were the differences:
(1) Creative/acting styles, methodologies?
(2) About production schedules?
(3) Personal?
(4) Philosophical in & of storyline development?
Thanks for the feedback, John! And...no, I haven't gone into detail on their differences. That would certainly make a fun video to do down the road a bit.
88th ah yes B & R ......watching this as a kid in the 60's early 70's....made me know I was a lil gay kid......Loved the Dynamic Duo ... :)
@3:02 ......what the Sam Hill is that?
Aka Jerry Gillespie I remember Adam West was on other TV shows as well. He was on Bewitched as Darrin's friend and on Alice as a sex education teacher from Tommy's class
Oh I remember that Alice episode. That was ... risque for the time.
I was sad when he died and I was surprised he was such a good actor and I loved him and Batman the original Batman but always be my favorite
👍👍👍📺 🦇
GREAT CAESAR'S GHOST😅
That's Perry white
I had a chance to meet West at a convention in the early 90s. He was nice and funny.
2 weeks without a live stream. What's up?
