So true...Dana was acting at a young age and her diabetes made her look younger...it extended her roles, yet her health suffered. Dana truly was so amazing in Shoot the Moon with Albert Finney and Tracey Gold, another amazing young actor who had dysmorphia and caused her grief.
Its says just as much for most everyone else too. If you aren't popular anymore most people wont pay attention to those who aren't in movies or on TV every week, month or whenever. They just forget about them and move on to the next star.
I remember seeing a small excerpt in People Magazine when I was a kid that she had died and thinking: “What?!! I just saw her in European Vacation!” 😫💔 That was such a special movie to me and my family. They always teased me said her Audrey in the movie reminded them of me because I was obsessed with my boyfriend (who looked exactly like “Jack” her boyfriend in the movie) and I never wanted to go on Vacation because I didn’t want to leave him. And anytime I mention my boyfriends name on vacation my brother would say “Jack Jack Jack”😂…,My Dad who passed in 2020 loved the fight on the train where everyone was ignoring each other then started fighting. It’s a classic. Rest In Peace Dana ❤ Thanks for the memories 🙏🏻

I was sexually abused as a child and Dana's movie Fallen Angel helped me so much during that time. I’m about 4 years older than Dana, and very much remember her passing. She was a highly gifted actress. If you haven’t seen her in the film Shoot The Moon with Diane Keaton and Albert Finney… watch it. I think it was her finest performance of her career. It’s the story of a family going through a divorce and is just gut wrenching. My parents divorced at the time that it was released. It really got to me.
I was diagnosed Type I in 1977, and always knew she was diabetic also. It gave me someone to look up to, and when it killed her, I was devastated. I’m still going strong over 45 years after diagnosis 🎉
Mary Tyler Moore was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when she was 20. She lived to 80. Dana obviously took very poor care of herself and probably drank alcohol along with foods she shouldn't eat. I knew someone like that who died at 22 from Type 1 Diabetes. She partied and drank. Take care of yourself like Mary Tyler Moore and you should do fine
@@pollypurree1834 Mary Tyler Moore was always someone I looked up to. For years she was the spokeswoman for the Diabetes Association. She was the OG ❤️❤️ Going through my teens, when I wanted to rebel, I did it through not taking my insulin and eating garbage, along with drinking and drugs. I’m so lucky I lived to tell the tale. My guardian angel has got to be exhausted.
A very touching tribute Dave! RIP Miss Hill! & you are very right about Hollywood! there's an expression among celebrities 'I wouldn't wish Hollywood on an enemy!'.
@Tanya Kasim I don't get how she ended up in a movie about child pornography. Hollywood is so blatant...oh, how about we put out a movie on childporn so we can "raise awareness" meanwhile literally making childporn. There are way too many movies out there with that theme. So gross...like what parent agreed for her to do that movie??? Just nasty evil crap...pedos everywhere!
My favorite role was her fine acting in a 1983 (I think) episode of Magnum PI. She played a foster kid on the B-Ball team Magnum coached, who was made to commit robberies by her foster parents. Really good actress. RIP
I loved this actress, and she was so talented. I feel bad that I never thought to ask about her or even wonder what happened to her until now. Thanks for all you do to honor and respect those actors we saw so many times in our Childhood.
Good Morning And Afternoon @@jdsundstrom, TWO VIDEO REQUESTS: One Is The Untold Truth of Simon Oakland And And The Other Is The Untold Truth of Kenneth Tobey.
IMO, her best performance was as the torn daughter in "Shoot The Moon" (1982), starring Keaton & Albert Finney playing her parents, a sadly overlooked film about the effects of a broken marriage on a family. After her passing, it was revealed that as with many youths suffering from the same affliction, Dana was far more defiant about following the required protocol to keep her Type 1 Diabetes in check than she should have been, which cost her dearly health-wise as she aged. R.I.P.
@@afvet5075Matter of opinion, of course, but I found it to be a well-done but totally unpleasant experience. Great actors doing their jobs in service to a story of family conflict and dissolution through emotionally damaged characters. Worst of all, as a viewer, the film concluded without resolving the issues of mutual jealousy and bitterness that it deeply explores. George acts out, humiliates himself, gets beaten up for his foolishness. The end. Huh?! Maybe that makes sense as it was his actions that started the snowball rolling downhill, but it was just modernized turgid melodrama to me…without a real point. But yeah, Dana was fantastic, as usual. It helped that her character was the emotional glue holding the story together.
Yes...shoot the moon was an amazing raw look at seperation, divorce, just how fkn real it is for the children, no matter their age, or mentality....it's truly realistic and says so much about the team who played these characters and who brought them together perfectly to portray a real life family and their Roller Coaster life. The best part was the destruction of the tennis court... I miss Dana and Albert and that Shoot the Moon was overlooked. Both are gone now, and this movie deserveS much more.
Thank you Dave for remembering Dana. She was everywhere in the seventies and early eighties. May she be resting peacefully. 🕊️❤️🙏 Thank you again. I appreciated this upload. 😊
In 1982 Dana Hill played Frankie in the tele-play production of Carson McCuller's The Member of the Wedding. Her portrayal was heartbreaking, and it showed what an amazing actor she was. It's a wonderful play and I remember it to this day because of her performance. RIP Dana. You were taken from this world far too soon.
What?! Dana had a whole page dedicated to her in PEOPLE right after her passing. I remember reading Dana describing how her diabetes would make her so thirsty that she would literally drink a container of orange juice. Hers was a sad death, because now we can control Type 1 better than ever.
I loved her work. She was great in Combat High, and European Vacation. I admit to having a bit of a crush on her as a young boy lol. However, I have known about her poor health and early death for a long time and it’s always troubled me that it seemed so few people cared. Thank you for putting a spotlight back on this wonderful lady.
You are completely right about Hollywood. It’s a meat grinder and unless you are a marquee name, you’re disposable. It’s even worse for women. They have a terrible time getting cast in good roles after the age of 35 or so. I have never understood this because this is about when people ordinarily master their craft. It’s a shame.
Thanks Tom. It’s hard even before 35, to get seen or cast at all. Looks and whether or not u have made money ALREADY are big factors. If u don’t have an agent, casting directors won’t take a chance on u. If u don’t have relationships with casting directors, agents won’t represent u. It’s s tough business - a cruel business.
Hollywood is filled with cretins and degenerates. I have fallen for their shenanigans like millions of others have. I'm ashamed that I didn't wise up sooner than I did. Like you said sir, she was another victim of the meat grinder that is Hollyweird.
Also, there is a finite number of shows made and probably 100s of thousands of people who want to be actors and maybe only 1% have half a chance. Combined with the pressure for the movies to make a profit, and though there are certainly all sorts of ethic violations with those in charge, it is no wonder that broken dreams are the rule, not the exception. Just think again how many A-listers there are compared to how many are out there who are only struggling to make it in the industry.
I remember her in Cross Creek. She was amazing in that movie. Her co-stars were Mary Steenburgen and Alfre Woodard among others. She played a young girl who was the inspiration for the story The Yearling. I'm sorry to hear that she has passed on. She was able to make an emotional connection. RIP.
Was that the movie where her dad shot her deer? I was a kid when I seen it and I remember being really upset about that. I haven’t seen it in over 30 years but I remember her in it and was hoping someone would comment on it because I couldn’t remember the name of the movie.
@@robertsheets8021: I was just as upset as a kid when the deer was shot by "Jody" in "The Yearling," the story inspired by Hill's character in "Cross Creek."
Thank you for highlighting Dana. I lived in Seattle at the time. Our news, local and not local, covered her death for a few days. I remember because it brought about the discussion about diabetes. A doctor from Harborview was interviewed on the topic. It saddened me to hear of her passing. She was two years younger then me. I always wanted to see her get more roles. Her talent was always overlooked as I saw it.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- I just really enjoy how honorable and positive how you deliver information along with your personal thoughts around each actor. Wonderful video. Never knew she was Max Goof. 😊👍
With people like Mr. Dave around, we will never forget these people we grew up with! Like many other young actors in the 70's and 80's, I had my favs, and I just like seeing them on the screen. It really didn't matter what show or TV movie they were in, or what character they were playing....it was just nice seeing them and hearing them do their thing. And they always did it very well. I'm sad to hear she passed. And I never remember hearing about her passing on either. She brought happiness and some "fizz" to everything she did. She was a REAL star. Too bad she didn't get treated like one. Thanks Mr. Dave for once again, poking our brains and getting us to remember the good times we had with the people we grew up with on the TV.
I remember reading about in the paper Dave; that she passed away but on page 7 or 8, not on the front page! I remember her from the National Lampoon movie. What few interviews of her at that time I saw, she seemed very appreciative and grateful. Chances are she knew her 'condition' did complicate things. Great video dave!
Dave broke the news to me almost 30 years after the fact, I had no idea she was dead.......My favorite role I've seen her in was on Magnum P.I., she did a great job in that episode.
Dana and I were close in age. I remember Fallen Angel and how scandalous it was to us as girls in school. Thinking back there were a number of made-for-TV movies and after-school specials that were somewhat risky given the times. I absolutely love European Vacation and Dana is great in it! When she looked at the weinerschnitzel and commented, “God, I miss Jack.” COMEDY GOLD!! She had great comedic timing but also could play more serious roles. I remember hearing about her death and feeling sad. She’s missed by Gen Xers for sure.
She wasn’t looking at Wiener schnitzel. Why would a breaded veal cutlet remind her of her boyfriend? She was looking at a sausage. Probably a bratwurst.
I liked her voice as Max in Goof Troop. She even looked like Dana Barron from the first Vacation. And I was extremely shocked at her passing. She still had potential.😢
Dana Hill was a hero of mine. I was diagnosed with T1D as a child and had read about her in a teen magazine. I followed her career closely until her untimely death. I've lived with T1D for 50 years. I wish she'd had the care I had as a child in the 70s, she would still be with us today.
I can remember seeing her just about everywhere. And being shocked 😲 that she was as old as she was. Somewhere along the line I heard she passed away. And I was SO sad for her. I'm sure she's resting in peace. 🙏 ❤️ 🕊
In 2016, at the age of 47, without symptom or clue, just 10 days after getting married I went into diabetic shock and before being placed in a 10-day coma, died twice on my wife of not even 2 weeks. My A1C was at 16 and my blood sugar was almost 900. Seven years later my blood sugar NEVER drops below 360...and cannot be controlled with insulin. The sad thing is, the doctors can't explain or even understand why my body became insulin resistant. It is a sad and silent killer..a predator which sometimes attacks out of nowhere, and the things it does to your body can be devastating. Only recently I've gone back to work..AGAINST DOCTOR'S ORDERS..in an attempt to save our home since my wife's grandmother's passing the beginning of February 2023.. Every day is a struggle with blindness in one eye, memory loss, neuropathy, dizziness, and the list goes on...all because of this silent killer. Be careful folks and please..PLEASE..get tested regularly. Much love and respect to you all.
My body doesn't produce insulin, a few years back I couldn't walk, I was walking into walls, I went blind, was severely dehydrated, and lost the use of my hands. Thankfully I pulled through. Didn't know I had diabetes till then . Never knew what the symptoms were till then.
I grew up watching Dana in many tv shows and movies. I think my favorite performance of hers was in the movie “Cross Creek”. She was a rare talent for sure. I miss her.
I remember Dana well. We were about the same age and although she was brilliant, I always felt bad she was continuing to play children when she reached adulthood. The last time I remember seeing her was in a live TV performance of Member of the Wedding as a 12 year old in 1982.
For me it wasn't her acting but her speaking about diabetes that helped. In 2005 my niece was 12 and found out had juvenile, diabetes. Danas tale gave me some understanding of what me niece, would be up against. And that can still have life just wok with/around it.
I also remember _Two of Us_. It was on CBS around the same time as _MASH_, _WKRP_, and _House Calls_. Dana Hill was a very sad story, much like Gary Coleman and all of his health issues. _Fallen Angel_ is a tough television movie to watch, and they made some really good ones back then. It's hard to get over Richard Masur in that role.
I remember hearing about her death. I remember clearly and it really shook me. She was such a talented person and I definitely remember her in Fallen Angel. I was probably too young to be watching it but I remember being grossed out. RIP Dana 🕊🕊🕊
I remember her in several films and Fallen Angel especially stands out to me. I remember watching it with my family and then afterwards having a frank conversation with my parents about child predators. Until then, I did not know that even existed. I think that film did so much good to bring this to light and open discussions.
I remember hearing that when she started to drive she looked so young behind the wheel, that people often stared at her. She then requested vanity plates that said “Yes she’s 16” or something similar ☺️
I remember her from Magnum P.I., I actually think of her performance in that episode from time to time, even though I haven’t seen it since the 80s. She really was someone very special. Her passing so young is heartbreaking.
Yup, Dana Hill was a fixture of the times and very worthy of remembrance like this video. I'm sure I saw her beforehand but I "think" the first I can remember her was in an Alan Parker film called Shoot the Moon with Albert Finney, Karen Allen, Diane Keaton and Peter Weller (also a very young Tina Yothers and Tracey Gold) in 1982. When I lived and worked in LA in the early 90's, one of the things I found was a lot of people not only look at you, they really give this top to bottom to top appraisal of you that is a little hard to get used to receiving.
@Sean O'Hare it is. The appraising look is as if to say, "who are you and what can you do for me?" I have a couple of stories regarding this. It's awkward, can be surreal and yes, lots of superficiality.
I remember Dana Hill from her appearance in "The Fall Guy". I think she played a spunky stuntwoman friend of Colt Seavers. Her character didn't want people treating her differently because she was short statured and a diabetic. By all accounts, she was a strong, remarkable actor. I'm sorry that the industry wasn't kind to her. Thanks for this touching remembrance.
Dana 's spirit must be active right now because I had forgotten about her until I saw a commercial for that show you mentioned here. I was watching old commercials and there was an ad for it. I thought wow she was in so much when I was a kid and a week later there you go making a video about her. We can always count on you Dave. 😀
I had such a huge crush on Dana Hill during my middle school years. I thought she was wonderful and she did a remarkable job in films like "Fallen Angel" and "Shoot the Moon". I was unaware of her voice acting during the later portion of her show business career, so I was pleased to find that she kept active during her final years in Hollywood in some capacity. She was totally cheated out of the life she should have had, a beautiful and talented gem taken from this world all too soon. She may not have become a true superstar, but she will never be forgotten for the great things she did during the brief 32 years this world was privileged to have her as part of it. I will certainly never forget her. R.I.P. Dana!
I loved her in Shoot the Moon with Albert Finney and Diane Keaton. I didn't know she had passed until I saw a framed photo of her at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas. I remember her in early roles.
It was only a few years ago that I realized she had passed away. I was curious about what she was up to these days and was very shocked to learn that she was no longer with us.
This is absolutely HEART breaking. This is why, even though I'm a phenomenal actor, i chose not to pursue it. Not only do you rarely get the recognition you deserve, for most of us that fame and recognition makes you shy from the craft. I enjoy my anonymity and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I remember seeing the article about her being hospitalized. Found out a short time later that she had passed away. I’m lucky enough to have an autographed copy of Lew Hunter’s script for Fallen Angel. It was a very impactful movie. Dana brought courage to the role.
Very sad story, I remember her in National Lampoons Euro Vacation, and I watched GoofTroop and Darkwing duck I was unaware that she became a voice actor. Heard nothing of her death at the time, but to be somewhat fair it was before the true Age of the internet with social media telling everyone everything every moment. She went so young and was so Talented. This hits home for me, I have a 6 year old nephew with type 1 Diabetes, it’s such a hard condition to manage. I hope he can live a somewhat normal and lengthy life. RIP Dana.
I do remember seeing her for the first time on Shelly Duvall’s Faerie Tale Theater, in “The Boy Who Left Home To Find Out About The Shivers” episode with Peter MacNicol and Christopher Lee, only realized she played honestly the most believable version of a teenage Audrey in European Vacation a little later, while Christmas may be the funniest of the franchise, European has the most believable and relatable version of the Griswold kids for me, they aren’t just there to react to Chevy but have their own funny moments, it’s funny because now that I look back I totally hear little Audrey in Max’s voice in Goof Troop
Dana Hill...gone since 1996, but never forgotten. She was in "The Fall Guy" on ABC 3 times as a guest artist. I like when she played the game show "Body Language" on CBS hosted by Tom Kennedy which Buzzr airs every day currently in the USA.
Climbing the hill She had a dream To run and run But those dreams perished They were unfortunately done Acting became the score Her work was professional Through Hollywood's revolving door Now rest forever in peace We smile and respect your time You were a dedicated actress Interpretating your lines
I remember being a young boy some 45 years ago... and seeing Fallen Angel. I had the biggest crush on Dana. I did not know she had passed. Makes me sad. Rip Dana.
She had a scene on Fall Guy about her diabetes which at that time I thought just part of the show. it was great for people of Fall Guy to show real struggles of having this disease by having her talking about it and taking her insulin!
Im a medical lab scientist, all to often I see kids come in the ER at the ages of 12-15 with blood glucose of 700+. It sucks for them I am sure but with technology we have today, Dana would still be alive if we had it back in the 90s
Type 1 diabetes, or juvenile onset diabetes, is a very dangerous, debilitating disease, and I saw Dana in the Audrey Griswold role in European Vacation, I seriously wondered if they were making it difficult in the dream sequence where she ate so much rich food...and later, when she got the letter from her boyfriend telling her how he was being close to her friend while she was away. That stress, coupled with the food, it's a wonder she made it through that movie. Anyway, that's my memory of her performance back then. Rest in peace Dana, you were a talented actress and a beautiful person.
The character of Audrey Griswold got the letter from her boyfriend. That wasn’t something that literally happened to this young woman. It was something that happened to her character…in a comedy film.
@Leena Wexler I've known it by both, and yes, it can hit at any age, though puberty seems to be a bit of a trigger. There's also type 2, which was referred to as adult onset, but type 1 is most common..... and frustrating.
@Leena Wexler thanks for that, those I mentioned are the only two I am most aware of, mostly due to family background ( one not blood related, one that was).
Poor Dana! Loved her as Audrey Griswold in European Vacation. She had me laughing every time she said "I miss Jack." She did a movie with Charlie Sheen regarding teen suicide. It was called Silence of The Heart. She was great in it.
I remember seeing her in movie and shows. I was young and don’t have a favourite movie or tv. I just remembering that I liked her. I’m saddened by her passing.
I had no idea until this moment that she had passed away. I'm so sorry to hear this so late.😔 What I've noticed awhile ago is some of the huge stars, I mean big stars that I thought we're so important and so love by everyone, after they passed away, if they got 1 minute of screen time on the news, they were "lucky". That's when it really hit me, wow, all they did in this world and that was their remembrance. It made me feel sad and hurt for them. It showed me that in the end we're all pretty much the same.
I grew up watching her and all the other young actors during that time. I always wondered what happened to her. Great video. Rest In Peace beautiful. 🥰
Thank you so much for talking about type one diabetes, it is always so nice that more people are aware of this disease, and aware of what Dana had to go through. Excellent video.
My family was always around a lot of Hollywood-type people. Yes, they knew there were always 20 more people wanting the job you had. I never knew she was much older than she was. I remember the TV movie, Fallen Angel. That was a deep dark role she played. Yes, a much older actress had to play it because it may have been too much for a younger actress at the time. The same thing happened to my cousin in sports. He was an exultant young baseball player. From little league to high school. He had the look of Ron Cey of the Dodgers and the bat of Dave Kingman of Chicago. He was diagnosed at 12 with Type I after going into a diabetic coma. He had a wonderful high school baseball career but no college wanted to pick him up because of his issue as they called it. Sadly, he passed away after losing a foot at the age of 59. We were the same age. Now I have Type II since I was diagnosed when I turned 60, but I caused it with all my soda drinking over the years. A lot of soda drinking. Thank you for letting me share my story and for your story of Dana Hill.
I DO remember her passing. However, there wasn’t an exuberant amount of reporting on it. And I remember it was due in part to her diabetes. I was in my twenties when she passed and I thought it was so so tragic! She was a brilliant actress. RIP Dana.
My best friend died in his sleep last month: he had diabetes. My heart goes out to Dana and her family. When I see anyone pass away so young: it saddens me.
❤ Thanks for sharing. I remember hearing about her passing on Entertainment Tonight back in the day. "Fallen Angel" was haunting. It served as a warning for me...probably difficult to watch now.
Dana was 4 years older than me, but I looked at least 3 or 4 years older years older than the parts she played…I actually had no idea she was my elder until this video! Fallen Angel came out when I was 13. I don’t remember if I saw it that year or the next, but I remember it vividly. It scared me enough to teach my kids to not trust strangers…especially my daughter whom I had at 18 so the movie was fresh in my memory. I never heard about her passing either. It breaks my heart that such a great, young actress was all but forgotten about by Hollywood. RIP Dana. You probably saved many girls (and boys for that matter) from talking to the wrong person. You also made so many of us laugh uncontrollably in the “vacation” movies.
She was in an independent film called Cross Creek starring Mary Steenburgen as author Marjory Kinnen Rawlings. It played in art cinemas in 1983 - 40 years ago!!!!. I remember it as a terrific little film. She also did a remake of The Member of the Wedding with Pearl Bailey, I think the same year. What a career she had!!
Kind and thoughtful tribute! I vaguely remember hearing she passed away in 90's. I remember seeing her in Magnum PI. I also remember her in the second Vacation movie. Somewhere in the 80's, she starred in a televised stage play set in the 1960's American South. (I can't remember the title!)
RIP, Dana, you left us your magnificent work. Thank you. I also love Dana in Shoot the Moon. Danielle Spencer was another of my faves. She stole that show, her timing and deadpan delivery were perfectly hilarious!
I am 61 and I remember seeing her Everywhere!! Back in the 70s and early 80s. I Never even knew she died. She was a really good little actress! R.I.P. Dana 🙏
My favorite movie of hers is “Cross Creek”! She did a great job with that role & was very believable in it; playing a young backwoods girl who was very special to her movie dad, Rip Torn. Mary Steenburgen played the lead of author Marjorie Rawlings.
Thanks for the really cool video! I have a Dana Hill story from around 94’ I’m a voice actor also, and worked in LA for most of my career. I booked the British speaking voice of Peter Pans Mother in the feature film “Hook”. When I went to the soundstage to record, Dana Hill was just finishing up her work on “Hook” also. She was voicing a scene with Gwyneth Paltro as Wendy where Peter is chasing his shadow on the wall in her bedroom. She was Peters voice in that scene. Not sure if she did any other voice work in the film but it was cool to get to watch her work before my session. She may or may not be credited, as often they don’t credit voice talent but it was a cool memory of a super talented actress 🌸🎙🎬
Good stuff, as always. I remember reading in People while waiting at the dentist's office that Dana passed away during the summer of '96. I was in high school, so still new to people you grew up with dying, so it stuck with me.
She was very good in the critically acclaimed "Shoot the Moon" from 1982. Very wize beyond her years as the daughter of Albert Finney and Diane Keaton. She really stole every scene she was in.
Even thinking of Dana Hill now makes me very sad. I have thought about her a lot over the decades. The one episode of Magnum PI where she was an orphan really gets to me. It really hurt when I heard she had passed. I remember her joking about not taking her medicine. Thanks Dave.
That is really where I knew Dana from originally (Fallen Angel) - I was so upset at that movie! I was also upset because I adored Richard Masur and was so disturbed at him in that evil role. Thank you for this wonderful video!
I sure do have a favorite . It was a filmed stage version of A Member of the Wedding ...she was phenomenal !!! Back in time you could find it to rent on VHS, I've not been able to find it in DVD , sure wish I could. 🎆🕊️🌿💜
Remember hearing about Dana going into the coma, then nothing thereafter. She seemed to be a lovable lttle tomboy everyone was crazy about. Hollywood has no shame or conscience, really. She deserved respect and to be remembered.
I had totally forgotten about her until I saw this. She was just a year younger than me. I remember the Fallen Angel movie very well. It's amazing she was 17 and looked so MUCH YOUNGER! She was talented. I feel so bad for her having diabetes and all she endured. God bless you, Dana!
The fact that many people did not hear about Dana Hills passing says a lot about Hollywood and its throw away mentality. RIP
So true...Dana was acting at a young age and her diabetes made her look younger...it extended her roles, yet her health suffered.

It’s the story of a family going through a divorce and is just gut wrenching. My parents divorced at the time that it was released. It really got to me.
Oh my gosh yes!! That was a movie I have never forgotten!! Wow...😮
That's a powerful movie about divorce. She was great in that movie.
I can't believe the narrator didn't mention that movie.
She was the OG ❤️❤️
Going through my teens, when I wanted to rebel, I did it through not taking my insulin and eating garbage, along with drinking and drugs.

Well said, Bob!
@@jdsundstrom Dave, how about a sitcom with Gary Coleman, Daniel Spencer and Nell Carter as their mother?! Now that would have been wonderful! 🤗📺📼👍
That's why I wouldn't want my sister's kids to pursue a career in showbiz.
Yet they chose to do it
My favorite role was her fine acting in a 1983 (I think) episode of Magnum PI. She played a foster kid on the B-Ball team Magnum coached, who was made to commit robberies by her foster parents. Really good actress. RIP
Absolutely remember this role!
Same. Her star power shone next to Selleck.
I loved this actress, and she was so talented. I feel bad that I never thought to ask about her or even wonder what happened to her until now. Thanks for all you do to honor and respect those actors we saw so many times in our Childhood.

Thanks for your kind words and encouragement, Debbie!
Good Morning And Afternoon @@jdsundstrom, TWO VIDEO REQUESTS: One Is The Untold Truth of Simon Oakland And And The Other Is The Untold Truth of Kenneth Tobey.
She seemed like a beautiful person, both inside and out. She was one of my many boyhood crushes.
That was a great movie.
Yes. That movie has an amazing cast.
They didn't even mention this movie. An it was her first feature film. An was a good movie.
Thank you Dave for remembering Dana. She was everywhere in the seventies and early eighties. May she be resting peacefully. 🕊️❤️🙏
Thank you again. I appreciated this upload. 😊
She just never looked happy or healthy. ♥️♥️🙏🏽🙏🏽
"I miss Jack."- Audrey Griswald. My favorite Dana Hill line. Rest in peace, beautiful. You are missed.
She was superb in that. She did "Southern Gothic" children so well. ❤
Good point about women. There is a true double standard in Hollywood when it comes to how movies and TV shows are cast.
Omg horrible to young
RIP
@@robertsheets8021 Yes.
I think it's a shame Dave skipped over that film, for which Dana was nominated for a third Young Artist Award.
You're most welcome. Thank you for sharing your memories!
I had no idea that she'd passed at such a young age.
Rest in peace Dana...

I think the pancreas becomes congested and cannot regulate insulin. You should try TUDCA . Also, I hope you're not a vegan. That doesn't help
My body doesn't produce insulin, a few years back I couldn't walk, I was walking into walls, I went blind, was severely dehydrated, and lost the use of my hands. Thankfully I pulled through. Didn't know I had diabetes till then . Never knew what the symptoms were till then.
Oh they said if I would have waited till the next day I wouldn't have made it.
I grew up watching Dana in many tv shows and movies. I think my favorite performance of hers was in the movie “Cross Creek”. She was a rare talent for sure. I miss her.
So sad what a talent. Thanks for making us remember. Fallen Angel was quite a performance and handled a really difficult subject matter.
I'm shocked! I had no idea she passed 😢 😔 To me she represented the girl next door. God rest her soul.
She was so funny in European Vacation. Both she and Jason were hilarious in that underrated sequel
Love ❤️ her in the movie Shoot the Moon, what a talent!

What an excellent tribute Dave! 👍It is sad how Hollywood is. RIP Dana Hill
She was so adorable. So sad she died so young. Thanks for the insight & info.
Dana deserved better. She was a good actress in all her roles. I was devastated at the news of her death.
Thanks for sharing, Sean! I truly appreciate your support.
The last part about los Angeles sounds really shallow
@Sean O'Hare it is. The appraising look is as if to say, "who are you and what can you do for me?" I have a couple of stories regarding this. It's awkward, can be surreal and yes, lots of superficiality.
I remember Dana Hill from her appearance in "The Fall Guy". I think she played a spunky stuntwoman friend of Colt Seavers. Her character didn't want people treating her differently because she was short statured and a diabetic. By all accounts, she was a strong, remarkable actor. I'm sorry that the industry wasn't kind to her. Thanks for this touching remembrance.
Dana was so perfect in 'Fallen Angel'.
Dana 's spirit must be active right now because I had forgotten about her until I saw a commercial for that show you mentioned here. I was watching old commercials and there was an ad for it. I thought wow she was in so much when I was a kid and a week later there you go making a video about her. We can always count on you Dave. 😀
I remember her from alot of TV shows, what alot of these actors went through back in the day is terrible, so many sad stories. R.I.P Miss Hill 🙏
It was bad way before Dana's era and nothing has changed since then.
Hollywood has been dark like this since it's inception.
R.I.P. Dana!
Thanks so much for sharing!
I had a huge crush on her growing up. May she rest in peace.
I’ve been Type 1 since age 12 so I kept up with diabetic news/magazines, etc. and that’s how I heard she had died. It was quite a blow.
RIP Dana.
I remember watching "Fallen Angel" when it was on TV. I didn't remember the title until now. It's a heart-wrenching movie.
I remember seeing that movie on TV when I was maybe five. And it stuck with me all these years. She was such a talented actress.
@@getnicolita333 Agreed. She did a magnificent job in that TV movie!
Loved her in European Vacation! Loved her wit and sarcasm! She was very talented. It's a shame she passed so young. May she Rest in Peace.

Great story, I had no idea she had passed and so long ago. Thanks again you bring the kind of information that TV fans are interested in.
@@iamcasihart I knew that. Truthfully, I wasn't sure she even had a boyfriend, although, given talent and looks, that would be pretty much a given.
It is NOT called juvenile diabetes anymore.
Poor Dana! Loved her as Audrey Griswold in European Vacation. She had me laughing every time she said "I miss Jack." She did a movie with Charlie Sheen regarding teen suicide. It was called Silence of The Heart. She was great in it.
Lmao every time she saw a sausage she said, "God I miss Jack."
Thanks Dave. Dana was born one month before me, and it humbles me to still be here..... Her life was way too short

Thank you so much for talking about type one diabetes, it is always so nice that more people are aware of this disease, and aware of what Dana had to go through. Excellent video.
You’re very welcome.
It's very disturbing how many kids are destroyed by Hollywood.
RIP Dana.
Yeah they didn't hype her death because it wasn't scandalous. Hollywood is garbage.
My best friend died in his sleep last month: he had diabetes. My heart goes out to Dana and her family. When I see anyone pass away so young: it saddens me.

I would say that her Best Role was in the movie "Shoot The Moon"... That movie and it's cast are Freaking AMAZING!! LOVE THAT FILM... 💖❤💜♥💕💕💕😎😎😎🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
She was too good for them, especially Hollywood. Hollywood stinks!! This was a very gifted actress who deserve to be treated well!

R.I.P. Dana 🙏
I remember her in Fallen Angel. I can't believe she was 17 in that movie. She was really good in that movie.
Thanks for sharing, Samantha!
I just watched Magnum PI and here she was, dear Dana, I rally love the way she conducted herself with Higgy! (Aka Higgins) great acting and witty. ❤
You should have showed a clip from her role on , shoot the moon. Master class of acting in that one .
