Great video. Love Only a Northern Song because of Paul's bass. For me though Its All Too Much should have been on MMT in place of Blue Jay Way and/or Your Mother Should Know. That along with I Am The Walrus on the one album... WOW
It's probably a good idea that Carnival of Light never came out. Mark Lewison has heard it and described it as dreadful. I like George's 'avant-garde-a-clue' gag.
I remember when in 1970s all sorts of The Beatles bootlegged studio outtakes started appearing and I was elated. I imagined there would be enormous reaches of songs that they rejected but which would make average fan happy. To my dismay I realized there were virtually none. Examples given here are songs initially shelved and finished/released after a year or two. This is not the same as having their famous quality control process entirely rejecting a song. Things like Black Dog Blues or What’s New Mary Jane are few exceptions. Sometimes I think they were unable to produce subpar material. Even less musically inspired songs would typically gain due to skillful arrangements, engaging vocal harmonies, and sparkle of humor and energy. I apologize to The Rolling Stones fans (I count myself as one), but there is nothing comparable to volume and dreadful quality of Metamorphosis album.
All Together Now also my least favourite from their entire catalogue. I love It's All Too Much and Only a Northern Song (though they are not in my top 10).
The Beatles rejected several songs. Some of them, later, were hits by other artists - in 1962, for example, John Lennon and Paul McCartney refused to release "How do You do it", later a hit by Gerry & The Pacemakers. Elvis Presley also rejected to record several songs and they were, later, hits by other singers - Elvis, in 1956, refused to record "Don't forbid", later a hit by Pat Boone.
It’s only a northern song was a great song, you can feel the contempt, the George head for his publishing rights being squandered and divvied up and not taken seriously…
Carnival Of Light from all reports not a song but a track...no singing. Northern Song yes rejected for Pepper but quickly reassigned to the Yellow Submarine film. Immediately post-Pepper they were working on songs for two films MMT and YS, so All Together Now and It's All Too Much weren't rejects. You Know My Name was more them just having fun which they didn't finish at the time. All You Need Is Love took precedence. Refer Lewisohn and Emerick books.
According to Geoff Emerick, George H wasnt really happy with ITs only a Northern Song and decided he didnt want it on Pepper, and Geoff would know he was there. Paul played some dang good bass lines on only a northern song. I wouldnt take anything about Yellow Submarine album seriously, the Beatles sure didnt, they had virtually nothing to do with the movie and John seriously hated it and the people who made it. As so John said anyhow. The just wanted the movie thing that Brian signed them to over with and done.
I've always liked "Only a Northern Song."
Me, too
ITS ALL TOO MUCH is brilliant…the song would have fit great on PEPPER…
Faltan las sesiones del 9 de mayo y 1 de junio
Great they saw the light of day . . . all had some magic in their own way. 'All Too Much" is personal fave - great song IMO 😅

Love 'Blue Jay Way'
The "Jessies Dream" instrumental (from MMT film) has never had an official release either.

"You know my name" was a running lyric in song by New Musik called Living By Numbers. This line could have been taken from the Let It Be B side track

'Only A Northern Song' is one of my top ten Beatles tracks while 'Altogether Now' is my least favorite!

Du hast auch von Musik keine Ahnung.
@@MaccaBulsi Why should I defer to your judgement when you can't even respond in the same language?
I think All Together Now is an embarrassment

If all these songs were released then why are we saying they were rejected?
They were rejected from the Lps they were recorded for.
It's All Too Much would've been better for Sgt Pepper than Good Morning Good Morning!

They all liked the movie when they saw it.
Correction, it was Geaorge Martin that didn't like IOANS
It's All Too Much was the only decent one of those 5.
George wrote some terrible songs in 67. Except its all to much
Only a Northern Song and It's All Too Much were good songs. The rest of them were dreck.
Did the Beatles record one last single that was never released and that few people have heard?
All too much, most pychedelic track?? What about Tommorow never knows??
One of my faves!
What about it
