also here off the back on the Glasto performance. I liked him as a person from the social media funny stuff but wasn´t a fan of the music, because I´m old. Genuinely moved by what I saw at Glastonbury. I wonder how many other 26 year olds have his level of emotional maturity? I know I didn´t. Having listened now to some of the music, I get it. I hope he continues just being himself. With that level of talent I can´t help thinking of other artists like George Michael or Paul McCartney. But right now, take the time needed. As friend said, "when you´re going through hell, keep going".. you´ll get there in the end.

I’m so glad Lewis is talking about anxiety in depth. The dizziness and hypochondriac thing is my life. I’ve developed agoraphobia purely because of the dizziness that comes with my anxiety. I’m too scared to leave the house because I get dizzy, then I tell myself it’s just anxiety, but like Lewis said.. what if it isn’t and I actually do pass out? It’s a vicious cycle and I’m tired of it. The hypochondriac thing too.. I won’t even use a new shampoo because my mind can convince me that I’ll take a reaction to it and maybe die. It sounds so ridiculous but anxiety is awful but I’m so glad I’m not alone after hearing Lewis talking about his anxiety.

I so relate to Lewis Capaldi.
My 1st memory as a child ( after finding my dad's post-suicide body at 4) was at the age of 7, sitting in my room doing homework.
Our neighbors kids were playing outside, and I distinctly remember thinking 'how nice to hear kids laughing'
I suffer from anxiety, PTSD and survivor's guilt. The past two years of my life was spent in a highly functioning fugue state, and most days are spent idealistic death/dying.
Despite this, I have held highly paid management positions, and completely addicted to various prescription psychiatric drugs.
I am exhausted more often than not, but Lewis, as a youngster, gives me hope. ❤

Wouldn’t step in water or dirt cause he couldn’t get his shoes dirty. If he dropped something on his shirt while eating he would have to change immediately. And of course what Lewis said about locking the door. He would always start asking me if I had locked the door. He’s 11 now and been in therapy for years but still struggles with anxiety and depression and self image. Thank you Lewis for being you and showing kids like him it’s okay to just be who you are and the world will embrace you as long as you do it from a genuine place ❤

Such a beautiful open interview. As a 49 year woman who was diagnosed with complex childhood trauma, ptsd and hypochondria, I relate to Lewis experience as a child where you see your mum in pain and it somehow develops into becoming the clown in the family or for friends. I manage to find humour in most situations and love making people laugh, but the down side is when you’re alone and how drained you feel and fearful that something bad is about to happen every second of each day. People would never guess I have all these conditions and it’s definitely a self coping mechanism.

Hands down. This will be studied and learned from by professionals and real people going through it. The questions are so well crafted whilst feeling off the cuff. You have a gift. Listening and seamlessly bringing the issues back into conversation. You probe so respectfully and with empathy. I'm so glad for Lewis that he got to get a chance to open up and share in only the way he could but would never get through chance to on the usual media conveyor belt of interviews. He is a lovely normal bloke in an unreal occupation. You, Stephen are the best, most humane interviewer I've ever watched. Thank you x

Aww Lewis, I just feel giving you a hug mate! Having worked with bands at grassroots level for years, I feel like once a band, musician etc moves up to the next level, the industry almost takes away that organic approach to the craft that I've seen all the artists I worked with in the past get a real buzz from and it almost takes away from the joy. It just makes me think of Prince and George Michael just wanting that creative freedom. Perhaps the music industry needs to reassess it's approach taking into account the mental health impacts that their current approach has on artists.

You really opened Lewis up, with your gentle way, voice, and questions,………Lewis keep chasing the answers on yourself and to your help your health and mental health, because we the common people, and us filled with anxiety, need someone like you to put into words in a song how we feel. Scotland loves you, listening to you speak is like myself trying to explain to others how I feel and where my heads at. Anxiety is no joke 😢 it affects all areas of your life, so much so that I question how people think about me. I take panic attacks a lot 😢😢😢 thank you 🙏🏼 both for this little gem.

What a lovely and genuine guy. I can relate so well with his description of being an anxious kid with hypochondriac tendencies. Later on in life it morphed into depression and anxiety. When in an anxious phase, doing breathing exercises helps. Also learning about what happens in the body when anxiety kicks in, ie the adrenalin rush and knowing that it eventually passes. Plus, read / watch what Joe Dispenza has to say about the power of the mind.

Articulating how it makes you feel and how easy it is to fall into the irrational thinking can be quite hard, and it’s nice to hear someone else talk about it, especially someone with influence. It knocks you off your feet when you realise you've not really known yourself and now it's time to start from the bottom and understand your likes, quirks, dislikes and what helps you to recharge. It's so interesting how easy it is to know your faults and what makes you sad but to be able to see your strengths or know what makes you a stronger person requires so much work. So true, it’s the exact same in Northern Ireland, we all slag ourselves off so much and don’t talk about money etc because we’re scared of people thinking that ‘we are something’. Definitely slightly damaging when we’re unable to even be proud of our own achievements because we don’t want to seem like we’re better than anyone else

I am taken back. As a child I was very anxious due to my family set up. Through my early twenties I always knew I had bad anxiety but I masked it with alcohol. Until early in covid I started having severe panic attacks . some times several a day and I was convinced I had a heart defect and I was convinced I was having a heart attack every time and this happened every day for 6 months . I also went and had extensive checks on my chest and heart, I could tell then the doctors and nurses were looking at me like what a fruit loop. After realising slowly it was in my head and after many therapy sessions I have been able to move forward and be able to keep at bay and control
The intrusive thoughts . I still have anxious thoughts and sometimes overwhelming thoughts but being self aware and being open to new methods around the way you construct and formulate your thoughts and self image will always be welcomed.
Great podcast and thank you Lewis for being honest , embarrassingly it was only until I just watched this I thought I was insane and the only one stupidly to have this thought process which again is ridiculous but very helpful.
    Cheers lads
