This interview is so important. It reveals exactly who Liam Payne actually was. I was not a One Direction fan. A bit old at 62 to have been but I have heard the music. What an intelligent, interesting and humble young man. This interview will one day be a gift for his son. Liam’s idea about caring for others in the business was actually heartbreaking. I actually teared up more than a few times while listening to this. The interviewer was perceptive and perfect. It was a lovely conversation between two men about life. RIP LIAM. 🕊️
What a great interview. I’m a decade behind you in age and feel exactly the same way you do. I hope his family saves this for Bear to watch down the track. The conversations he would have wanted to have with him aren’t detailed, but even from this end, you can see the way the conversation would go. It’s heart breaking what has happened. This young man was so tormented and had many demons, yet had such a positive outlook. Very wise, intelligent and a joy to listen too. May he rest in internal peace. Apparently Liam was sober and had been until he got to the hotel. Hotel employee gave him drugs and used his credit card. People don’t realize how easy it is to relapse especially if left alone. I personally will never believe that he jumped off of that balcony. Emergency services should have been called when he was convulsing in the lobby and if they had, Liam might be alive today. It’s sad all the way around.
His son will be able to watch this when he’s older, I can’t remember what he spoke about in this as I watched when it was released but I know I would treasure this!
When Harry said "if you are happy doing what you are doing, then nobody can tell you that you are not successful", I didn't really acknowledge that the vice versa may not be true even when I knew it in the back of my mind! as much as I agree and I know a lot of us do, Liam knows more than any of us how many people were, and still are, mad at Zayn. I think most people that are fans now are supportive of him, but in 2015 it was a shit show and even people who weren't necessarily mad at him still guilt tripped him about making them sad, which is just such a horrible thing to do. so as much as I agree, Liam has very valid reasons to be worried about this, and all I can do is hope that we're better than that now.

@@autumn5852 ADHD can be caused by trauma. They are so disconnected from themselves as they're lives are totally controlled. Drug issues in the industry is a pattern, deliberate, to make them appear crazy and an excuse if they need to be exterminated. When weak it's easier to control anyway and demons get in. It's the whole sick industry. It makes them split personalities. They also are forced to do things for fame or their life is threatened. He was only 14 when it all began, they don't know what they're getting into. There are elements of his good part trying to sort it out and reckon with the dark side. But they are so owned and controlled, if they speak out or try to break out they are exterminated. It's such a dark cult they are in, evil to the core and so incredibly sad. A lot of them don't and can't escape it as their doctors and psychiatrists are selected not chosen by them. The help that are selected don't help at all but keep them weak. It's a huge club working together, selling their souls for fame, wealth and power.
What breaks my heart is that he’s blaming himself and that he feels bad about it but he doesn’t even know that we will NEVER blame him for prioritising his own mental health😭
I think its his adhd, he's very over critical and a perfectionist and he also worries about wether he's said anything or done anything to annoy anyone or hurt anyone

@zerdaa well I was watching his interview and I noticed he was looking around the room alot while he was speaking and fidgeting alot in other interviews. Also the way he speaks he's goes off on alot of tangents about other things and speaks really fast... I am currently being diagnosed myself so I looked up in the Internet and it said he had been diagnosed as an adult also after he went in for his liver infection I think last year maybe? So I just think If you take this into account which nobody seems to be doing adhd can cause alot of problems as you say alcohol and drugs abuse and I just think it's wierd he seems to have a pattern with it where he goes back to it after long periods of time it's like a cycle xx

This interview is haunting to listen to after his death. He was so honest about his struggles and mental state, a lot makes sense now. Thank goodness this interview exists, so when his son is older he can get a real look into what a great person his dad was. Clearly wise beyond his years, and thrown into a chaotic life far to young. He wasn’t just thrown into it, he was seeking it because he went to X factor because it was his dream. Sometimes we don’t realize our dreams have realistic realities no one’s life is perfect and even once you’ve accomplished your goal doesn’t mean you’ll be happy sometimes living a simple life is easier.

Agree. My all time fave band did that before their hiatus ended. They said they did the group therapy for that even. It seems to have helped them a lot. That's all men feature, pardon my generalization. But that's true, they bottle it up, they're never tellig anything. When there's 5 of them it can be a whole world in a bottle.

The sudden passing of Liam has really shaken me up, I can’t stop thinking about it 😢 my heart aches for his son, family and friends. There is so many things he talks about in this interview that has resonated with me. He came across as so self aware, vulnerable and warm. He was just a young boy with a dream. Rest in peace Liam. 🤍

Does it surprise you that 99% of the people who write a comment which is pretty solidly dictator based have at least one initial which is A, J or S? . As you asked, he is good, and he's making more of a good impression on me (and he just said Evangelise twice in his sponsor advert - see my name - short for Evangelist4Justice) but he fails when he says "people blah blah blah blah" as if all people are exactly the same, and that is totally unrealistic, and actually rude, and I don't appreciate that.

I'd never seen this until after he passed but he was so well spoken, intelligent, insightful, self aware, sincere, honest, the list goes on... it's just so tragic. It's especially sad that in this very video he was advocating for a system to provide care and protection for young artists. He didn't deserve this ending at all, RIP.

They have all grown so far, it would be like adults going back to Kindergarten, if they ever do anything together, it should be as who they are now, not who they used to be.
This man was a 14 yr old trapped in a 30 yr old biological body. He hadn’t truly had the opportunity to live. The developmental psychology he spoke about is real. He felt like other people controlled his life due to his fame and it affected him. Him not knowing how to pick up mail, apply for car insurance, these “normal” tasks that you grow into learning - were moments that he never experienced on his own. In our adolescence, our goal is to individuate into who we are. And at this time, Liam was unable to. He was molded into a “pop star” “heartthrob” person. Although he chose this life path, I think this field of work & level of fame can be extremely detrimental to one’s mental health. He emphasized his 14-17 yr old life multiple times in this video which tells me this developmental stage stayed with him. Whatever he went through during this time induced a level of shock. Which now, at 30/31 yrs old, had him unable to cope. I think he was genuinely trying to reach out for significant help and consistent support. I commend his ability to express his shortcomings and challenges. May his soul rejoice and rest in righteousness with the Lord 🤍

@ he’s going to be a spoiled rich kid versus Liam who was a poor kid thrown into the industry at 17 years old sacrificed his high school career, early adulthood for success. The rich kid doesn’t have to work a day in his life if he doesn’t want to. No pressure, no scrutiny, no fame, no one even knows what he looks like. Sounds like an apple pie life compared to someone that was groomed by a X factor judge who was a decade older, was non stopped harassed and worked like a dog doing 500 shows in 5 years. Bear is not going to have to work for anything, it will all be handed to him. He’s privileged for sure.

After watching this I realise that the whole past year liam supported us so much cheered us up, gave us hope through his instagram lives and online concerts and what not even tho he was also suffering and had some demons of his own. Yeah he is so brave. He is my favorite. But I believe that they will reunite one day as Liam and Louis want a reunion and Harry and Niall also but they don't tell about one direction and reunion thing that much but they also want it as whenever somebody asked them about reunion they never denied it and all of them are talking so affectionately whenever they talk about each other and one direction.

But they need to individually deal with any trauma experienced before they get back. It does them no good to bottle things up, that’s why I’m so proud of Liam for being this open and honest. I have always wanted a reunion but after watching this interview I don't think I do anymore .They should better do things what they love to do rather than doing things which will make us happy cause if you love them ( 1D or just Liam ) their happiness is what we have always wanted ( atleast I do ).. Their time in 1D made their life a living hell and it kept getting bigger which even made Zayn leaving the band. Niall even mentioned in an interview that they couldn't even go for a walk outside without being harrassed by paps and screaming fans ,, I can't even imagine living that way. 14 minutes in and I can completely see why he was struggling to cope with life. Very revealing interview. And someone needs to check his "notes" and phone messages. Something triggered him that night. Or perhaps a combination of things, - career loss and the book that was set to destroy his reputation. He also doesn't believe in therapy. Struggles with relationships, struggles without routine, struggles to be alone, puts on a fake persona in a relationship, he is a perfectionist, did drugs & alcohol - all a recipe for disaster. Exactly! He fight with mental health everyday. Is never " gone". I see here was in a good place but somethings triggered his depression again and that night he had enough. I don't think he was trying to 😶 himself but in that combination of things he did that. Who know what this poor soul had on his mind in that moments ...
Saying this as an OG Directioner. He deserved an intervention. Hugs, loads of love and rest. Not death. He needed help a decade ago. He needed the boys… He needed security and safety, maybe that could’ve saved him from himself and saved others from him. Devastating ending. There was a side of him that wanted to get better, but there was a bitter side of him, the one that was controlled by his demons. He was fighting them for so long. He’s spoken about them. I always hoped he’d win from them. I just don’t wanna believe this.
Right. But the other boys can’t be blamed.. everyone moved on and except from harry it seemed like he was in touch with everyone. Glad Louis kept in touch and defended him public.. the problems started in the band the depression and being alone after the whole world clapping for you.. Simon destroyed these boys.. all the issues with the ex, the lack of success and being dropped by the label was too much.. he got overrolled by all the circumstances. This is a very sad and common tragedy unfortunately
I've never been a fan but since his passing I've been watching videos of him and this is the most interesting by far, he was so articulated, reflexive, intelligent and aware of himself...rest in peace dear boy
I didn’t know a thing about 1D, but this interview came on as I was cleaning. At different points throughout this interview, I found myself nodding, tearing up, laughing, saying “same!” and wishing he was still here today. What a fantastic human being. So self aware and honest. His son will grow up to be proud.

This is hands down the best interview of Liam. Very insightful chat. Being a directioner, I thought i knew Liam so well, but now it's like all i knew was just a drop in an ocean. He is in his journey of self- discovery and i am very proud of him. Infact a lot of these idealogies and things thet they talked about has changed my perspective towards a lot of things about success and life.

Exactly. This. Self connection becomes extremely painful because you don’t even know what that is due to putting on a mask of people pleasing. When trauma ends, ironically a different kind of pain starts before things settle to becoming better…I guess some people were meant to live outside in and others inside out, neither can be fully happy because life is not perfect nor are we.
@@IGlowIFlow i would argue one is significantly more maladaptive than the other though. i think it's actually quite healthy to be more in tune with inside yourself. being a people pleaser is in a sense a little bit pathetic. this is coming from someone who once truly admired that personality trait/personality type. now i see the weakness and longing for validation in it. i understand why people do it, but i certainly don't admire it anymore.

Its been the strangest few days for me and I don't know why but I have been really moved and deeply saddened by his death, and watching this just shows me how down to earth and real Liam was.
It has hit hard me hard too and I’m not sure why. I keep watching all of his videos and just feeling incredibly sad. I wasn’t a huge 1D fan but in the UK we were always aware of what the boys were up to. And the internet was so mean to him lately I just hope it wasn’t that that pushed him over the edge. I just feel so terrible for him. I hope wherever he is, he is at peace.

I didn't know much about him over than his fame. I'm happy and sad that I watched this because I had a different image of him because of the media. But this video encapsulated his personality more. He struggled poor guy.

I would love for One direction to get back together but only if they got better management and work schedules. They were so overworked and suffered so much. This interview is so important. It reveals exactly who Liam Payne actually was. I was not a One Direction fan. A bit old at 62 to have been but I have heard the music. What an intelligent, interesting and humble young man. This interview will one day be a gift for his son. Liam’s idea about caring for others in the business was actually heartbreaking. Apparently Liam was sober and had been until he got to the hotel. Hotel employee gave him drugs and used his credit card. People don’t realize how easy it is to relapse especially if left alone. I personally will never believe that he jumped off of that balcony. Emergency services should have been called when he was convulsing in the lobby and if they had, Liam might be alive today. It’s sad all the way around.

as much as I agree and I know a lot of us do, Liam knows more than any of us how many people were, and still are, mad at Zayn. I think most people that are fans now are supportive of him, but in 2015 it was a shit show and even people who weren't necessarily mad at him still guilt tripped him about making them sad, which is just such a horrible thing to do. so as much as I agree, Liam has very valid reasons to be worried about this, and all I can do is hope that we're better than that now.

He was in a very bad place in this video and I doubt things got any better. ADHD doesn’t change, we have to change to accommodate it and not fight it but when you’re in denial still, like he was here, nothing can change. It’s heartbreaking 😢
@@autumn5852 ADHD can be caused by trauma. They are so disconnected from themselves as they're lives are totally controlled. Drug issues in the industry is a pattern, deliberate, to make them appear crazy and an excuse if they need to be exterminated. When weak it's easier to control anyway and demons get in. It's the whole sick industry. It makes them split personalities. They also are forced to do things for fame or their life is threatened. He was only 14 when it all began, they don't know what they're getting into. There are elements of his good part trying to sort it out and reckon with the dark side. But they are so owned and controlled, if they speak out or try to break out they are exterminated. It's such a dark cult they are in, evil to the core and so incredibly sad. A lot of them don't and can't escape it as their doctors and psychiatrists are selected not chosen by them. The help that are selected don't help at all but keep them weak. It's a huge club working together, selling their souls for fame, wealth and power.
What breaks my heart is that he’s blaming himself and that he feels bad about it but he doesn’t even know that we will NEVER blame him for prioritising his own mental health😭
I think its his adhd, he's very over critical and a perfectionist and he also worries about wether he's said anything or done anything to annoy anyone or hurt anyone

@zerdaa well I was watching his interview and I noticed he was looking around the room alot while he was speaking and fidgeting alot in other interviews. Also the way he speaks he's goes off on alot of tangents about other things and speaks really fast... I am currently being diagnosed myself so I looked up in the Internet and it said he had been diagnosed as an adult also after he went in for his liver infection I think last year maybe? So I just think If you take this into account which nobody seems to be doing adhd can cause alot of problems as you say alcohol and drugs abuse and I just think it's wierd he seems to have a pattern with it where he goes back to it after long periods of time it's like a cycle xx

Why are people coming for him on Reddit, saying he’s homophobic and unintelligent and that he’s fetishizing bisexual women? People were hardcore trashing his first album. There seems to be a lot of hate out there for him, and I just don’t know which side to be on, because I want to like him.
This interview is haunting to listen to after his death. He was so honest about his struggles and mental state, a lot makes sense now. Thank goodness this interview exists, so when his son is older he can get a real look into what a great person his dad was. Clearly wise beyond his years, and thrown into a chaotic life far to young. It's incredibly sad.

Agree. My all time fave band did that before their hiatus ended. They said they did the group therapy for that even. It seems to have helped them a lot. That's all men feature, pardon my generalization. But that's true, they bottle it up, they're never tellig anything. When there's 5 of them it can be a whole world in a bottle.

The sudden passing of Liam has really shaken me up, I can’t stop thinking about it 😢 my heart aches for his son, family and friends. There is so many things he talks about in this interview that has resonated with me. He came across as so self aware, vulnerable and warm. He was just a young boy with a dream. Rest in peace Liam. 🤍

As you asked, he is good, and he's making more of a good impression on me (and he just said Evangelise twice in his sponsor advert - see my name - short for Evangelist4Justice) but he fails when he says "people blah blah blah blah" as if all people are exactly the same, and that is totally unrealistic, and actually rude, and I don't appreciate that.
I think the interviewer is very respectful of Liam and has a wonderful way of making him feel like they are just friends having a drink together and getting to know each other better. He has axk Ck for helpingLiam be comfortable and at ease. Really enjoyed this. 💙💚
I'd never seen this until after he passed but he was so well spoken, intelligent, insightful, self aware, sincere, honest, the list goes on... it's just so tragic. It's especially sad that in this very video he was advocating for a system to provide care and protection for young artists. He didn't deserve this ending at all, RIP.

This man was a 14 yr old trapped in a 30 yr old biological body. He hadn’t truly had the opportunity to live. The developmental psychology he spoke about is real. He felt like other people controlled his life due to his fame and it affected him. Him not knowing how to pick up mail, apply for car insurance, these “normal” tasks that you grow into learning - were moments that he never experienced on his own. In our adolescence, our goal is to individuate into who we are. And at this time, Liam was unable to. He was molded into a “pop star” “heartthrob” person. Although he chose this life path, I think this field of work & level of fame can be extremely detrimental to one’s mental health. He emphasized his 14-17 yr old life multiple times in this video which tells me this developmental stage stayed with him. Whatever he went through during this time induced a level of shock. Which now, at 30/31 yrs old, had him unable to cope. I think he was genuinely trying to reach out for significant help and consistent support. I commend his ability to express his shortcomings and challenges. May his soul rejoice and rest in righteousness with the Lord 🤍

@ he’s going to be a spoiled rich kid versus Liam who was a poor kid thrown into the industry at 17 years old sacrificed his high school career, early adulthood for success. The rich kid doesn’t have to work a day in his life if he doesn’t want to. No pressure, no scrutiny, no fame, no one even knows what he looks like. Sounds like an apple pie life compared to someone that was groomed by a X factor judge who was a decade older, was non stopped harassed and worked like a dog doing 500 shows in 5 years. Bear is not going to have to work for anything, it will all be handed to him. He’s privileged for sure.

I have always wanted a reunion but after watching this interview I don't think I do anymore .They should better do things what they love to do rather than doing things which will make us happy cause if you love them ( 1D or just Liam ) their happiness is what we have always wanted ( atleast I do ).. Their time in 1D made their life a living hell and it kept getting bigger which even made Zayn leaving the band. Niall even mentioned in an interview that they couldn't even go for a walk outside without being harrassed by paps and screaming fans ,, I can't even imagine living that way. They took s hiatus for a reason and let's not make everything they do about 1D ,we should appreciate their work as solo artists because this is what they always wanted to be . He gives answers as to why he keeps to himself ! Something triggered him that night. Or perhaps a combination of things, - career loss and the book that was set to destroy his reputation. He also doesn't believe in therapy. Struggles with relationships, struggles without routine, struggles to be alone, puts on a fake persona in a relationship, he is a perfectionist, did drugs & alcohol - all a recipe for disaster. There was a side of him that wanted to get better, but there was a bitter side of him, the one that was controlled by his demons. He was fighting them for so long. He’s spoken about them. I always hoped he’d win from them. I just don’t wanna believe this.

Right. But the other boys can’t be blamed.. everyone moved on and except from harry it seemed like he was in touch with everyone. Glad Louis kept in touch and defended him public.. the problems started in the band the depression and being alone after the whole world clapping for you.. Simon destroyed these boys.. all the issues with the ex, the lack of success and being dropped by the label was too much.. he got overrolled by all the circumstances. This is a very sad and common tragedy unfortunately

I've never been a fan but since his passing I've been watching videos of him and this is the most interesting by far, he was so articulated, reflexive, intelligent and aware of himself...rest in peace dear boy
I didn’t know a thing about 1D, but this interview came on as I was cleaning. At different points throughout this interview, I found myself nodding, tearing up, laughing, saying “same!” and wishing he was still here today. What a fantastic human being. So self aware and honest. His son will grow up to be proud.
Such a lovely comment. He was human and just like the rest of us was trying to do better and get to "that place" of peace. Not a 1D fan either (I'm a but older than them) and all this resonates with me too!
This is hands down the best interview of Liam. Very insightful chat. Being a directioner, I thought i knew Liam so well, but now it's like all i knew was just a drop in an ocean. He is in his journey of self- discovery and i am very proud of him. Infact a lot of these idealogies and things thet they talked about has changed my perspective towards a lot of things about success and life.

@@aryam6538 Oops…. Yes I just joined the fandom in Feb 2020 and Liam quickly became my fav. I didn’t intend to play favs, it just happened. Plus I had lots of time on my hands during quarantine hence my numerous comments. I’m not so active these days.

Exactly. This. Self connection becomes extremely painful because you don’t even know what that is due to putting on a mask of people pleasing. When trauma ends, ironically a different kind of pain starts before things settle to becoming better…I guess some people were meant to live outside in and others inside out, neither can be fully happy because life is not perfect nor are we.
@@IGlowIFlow i would argue one is significantly more maladaptive than the other though. i think it's actually quite healthy to be more in tune with inside yourself. being a people pleaser is in a sense a little bit pathetic. this is coming from someone who once truly admired that personality trait/personality type. now i see the weakness and longing for validation in it. i understand why people do it, but i certainly don't admire it anymore.
@@serengeti4027 People pleasing isn’t a weakness, it’s just a characteristic that people need to learn to break out of. Calling it a ‘weakness’ just makes it sound like there are no complexities of the human psyche involved. Nothing is ever black or white in my opinion.

Its been the strangest few days for me and I don't know why but I have been really moved and deeply saddened by his death, and watching this just shows me how down to earth and real Liam was.
It has hit hard me hard too and I’m not sure why. I keep watching all of his videos and just feeling incredibly sad. I wasn’t a huge 1D fan but in the UK we were always aware of what the boys were up to. And the internet was so mean to him lately I just hope it wasn’t that that pushed him over the edge. I just feel so terrible for him. I hope wherever he is, he is at peace.

And that’s because I identified strongly with a lot of the struggles that seemed very apparent in him. Essentially, a massive struggle to be/find himself. Maybe that’s a common thing and why people feel affected. Plus we have seen kind of his whole life trajectory god rest his soul
I didn't know much about him over than his fame. I'm happy and sad that I watched this because I had a different image of him because of the media. But this video encapsulated his personality more. He struggled poor guy.
The same happens to me. I prayed for his soul at the same entime I'm still shocked. I can't believe this tragedy and watchining this I realize he had a lot of problem, I thought that get their member of his old ban gruop. Super sad. It just leaves you with the worst feeling. Like someone punched you right in the gut and then you get that really bad ache in your stomach. I never thought that it would've impacted me as bad as it did since we didn't know of each other in real life and yet... I just felt so bad on that day. I just kept thinking about him... 😢

Ah, he's been through a lot, it's not easy to suffer all that. I can feel the pain in his eyes and voice. We always expect something from him but never realize what he's been through. I just want him to be happy and healthy and wish him the freedom he's been talking about
When he said “that he knows people will be mad about him saying that he was glad the band ended” I was like I’m not mad at him or any of them, but I am mad at their toxic management and mad that he feels that way; for ages I wanted a reunion but now I don’t, not unless it makes them happy, but their mental health is the most important, they put their own mental health at risk to save me, now it’s time for them to save them selfs
Aaaahhhh finally some healthy directioners..I am tired of people who always trouble them by saying such things and make their business to know everything about their personal lives. I am also tired of people always shopping them (Larry especially) . Dont they understand how it is destroying their friendship(if it hasn't already) . If their is something there we would support them when they feel safe enough to tell us but until they dont we need to support.

I would love for One direction to get back together but only if they got better management and work schedules. They were so overworked and suffered so much. Liam absolutely helped us in the quarantine. He was having a bad time himself, but he helped us so much with Livestream and the LP show, I'm so proud of him, and I just wish that he'd give himself a pat in the back. He's amazing, and we'll never be mad at him for prioritizing himself. For us, he always comes first.

The dichotomy between how he is here compared to the Logan Paul interview is crazy. Obnoxious and bitter vs charming and articulate. It’s very clear to me now that the tiktok videos making fun of him wasn’t an actual representation of himself, but when he was using drugs. It’s such a shame. Rest easy.

Yes. Liam’s usually open and engaging in interviews, but he keeps his emotions close to his chest. I feel like with the Happy Hour Podcast he relaxed and with this podcast it seems he feels safe to share of himself. Love it…. But I’m sad his relationship ended. I hope he’s okay.
