She’s going off of getting all that plasma and dead skin out of there so it’s recommended to take it off after a day, if your skin is filled with liquid. So you should take it off, wash it dry it well, then re apply a new skin and keep it on for another 3 to 4 days
Because I keep seeing everyone say their artist says 3-4 days: YES, listen to your artist. HOWEVER, some people with sensitive skin and eczema react negatively to saniderm and long wrapping tattoos. So for those people, 24 hours is sufficient and you can take the wrapping off and clean it. Your choice to rewrap or not.
My artist knows I have saniderm at home so he just wraps it like normal. Couple hours later I'll wash it and wrap it again for bed. Usually next day I'll let it breathe then apply saniderm after the first 24 hours for 4-5 days and it comes out fine.
This would be a nice video if it wasn't taken out of context. Leave saniderm on for 23 hrs after the tattoo. Then take it off to wash the excess blood, plasma, and ink off let it air dry and breathe for a while like 10 minute and then reapply a new clean peice. THEN you can leave it on for a few days 💁♂️. People make this so complicated. These are the directions ON THE BOX 🤦♂️😭💀
You are right , when you get the tattoo always after 24 hours clean it and THEN put the saniderm for 4-5 days . Not as soon as you get out of the artist
I spend 7 days with her, without even a problem. I spent a maximum of 8 days with her. In tattoos super charged with colors. My skin doesn't even have a reaction, but it's possible that someone might have an allergic reaction to using it.
As a Tattooer I tell people to let it stay in for 3 days becase pulling it off too soon will pull the tattoo off! Or parts of it off. Unless it is fully full of fluid like that even then you can push the fluid out. So just tell people to Pull t off after 24 hours no matter what does not work all the time. Only time I've see irritation of when the skins is not cleaned from the oils form tattoo soaps before application of the saniderm.
But bro my stomach is irritated like hell and I had to take it off. I don’t think I can use this stuff for the future and i probably got to get touch ups now. I should have just stuck to the old method
I was using Sanidem on my last 4 tattoos, after 24h I need to remove it due to redness and itching...I might have a slight allergic reaction to Saniderm but overall it's a great product. Saves a lot of hassle with new tattoo aftercare.
My artist told me to take it off after 3 days only reason to take it off before then is if you shower and water gets in to it. Its also worth it tonwait 3 plus days since the tattoo healed more and it hurts less to take off as well as removes faster
Everyone is different after 24 hours the irration was so bad I couldn’t sleep and had to take it off to air dry. Now it feels way better I’ll just have to do the old traditional method
My artist said 5 days! So I put it on for the first 24 hrs, remove clean and rewrap for 4 more days. I apply Aquapor after cleaning so that it doesn’t stick to the saniderm!
My artist put one on, told me to remove it after 24 hours, clean it, let it air dry, put ointment on it and put on another layer and leave it on for 4-5 days. After those 4-5 days he said to wash it then just apply non fragrance lotion
When did they start putting this wrap over tattoos? I have 3 tattoos. Oldest one is 31 years & the color is still visible with the red, yellow and green ink. We didn't use plastic wraps on any of my tattoos and they still look like the image that was drawn on them. Didn't get infected but it or dry. I put bacitracin for the 1st day then Vaseline afterwards. My daughter just got 2 small tattoos and when I saw plastic, I thought her arm was sweating or got wet. 😂 I find it unnecessary if you take care of the tattoo for the first week.
I don’t get the hype of saniderm. I’ve never used it to heal any tattoos and they all heal fine and rarely take more than 7-10 days to heal. Just wash it throughout the day and keep it moisturized. None of the artists I’ve gone to recommend it, just seems like an unnecessary step with potential downfall of irritation slowing the healing process down. 🤷🏻♂️
It actually speeds the healing process up. And you only have to clean it once in the 4-7 day period. That’s why it’s so cool you don’t really have to do anything once it’s on
From a tattoo artist to all people who choose to use a second skin. Always take the first off in 24hrs. Every skin type is different so go back to your artist after you’ve removed the bandage for further instructions. Remember these things are new to the tattoo industry so we can’t fore sure be exact with the healing instructions of these products because they haven’t been tested long enough
I wouldn’t trust all artists with this. I know MANY that don’t have a clue how this works or how to properly use it! They just go off what they hear. So take that with a grain of salt
I used this stuff on my 8th tattoo. I was told to leave it on for a few days. It filled with plasma and ink and I left it like I was told. The third day I was kinda freakin out and took it. My tattoo was pretty much ruined. It looks terrible now. My wife used it recently and it did not fill up. It seems fine. I guess it not for everyone.
@@ts1331ts Yes, my artist puts it on at the end of the session and I leave it on for 7-8 days. After that, I take it off in the shower and I get no peels at all.
I’m so confuse I just got my first tattoo it’s kind of simple but I like it. It says faith and the “h” extends out into a little branch with a bird perched on it. I kept the plastic on for the first day and night (it looked soooo messy I started panicking that it was messed up) but after a friend cleaned it for me it was safe lol. She apply a new plastic layer for me and I’ve worn this one for about 2 days now. I’m not sure what to do next though and after to take the plastic off
My tattoo was perfect, I did exactly what I was told, I’ve just taken it off and now have blisters bits of the tatto falling off and in a hole it has a white liquid:( I’ve never used second skin before and I’ll never use it again, deviated considering this was my first big piece.
@@charliedeegan1598 or just follow your tattoo artist aftercare instructions. Personally mine said leave for around 2 - 3 days max a week if you see a lot of blood and plasma build up remove and go about normal aftercare without second skin till fully healed. Second skin is great to have on for longer periods of time to avoid any damage and does depend on the size of your piece and how heavy they went over it with ink
My artist doesn’t use saniderm but something similar that lasts for 6 days 😅 (I’m not American so I don’t know if there are other products there other than saniderm)
I reapplied after day 1 but at 48 hour i had to replace it again since it was kinda gross after work and the shower got a little water inside so i washed and reapplied and by day 3/4 it got veeerrryyy dry and scabby which has never happened the other times i used it so i took it off and started aquaphor for the last couple days since i know that works just in case, should i have left it on while it was getting even dryer and cracking under the tegaderm?
Kinda sounds like maybe there was an opening in the sandiderm initially and it wasn't healing the right away. You're prolly better off taking it off and healing it the og way....I'm no expert but that's my opinion
I got my first tattoo in 09 and had multiple artists tell me different things. I follow the same method every time and never any issue. I was my new tattoo in the shower with fragrance free soap and spray some bactine than I apply thin layer of aquaphor. I repeat washing, bactine and aquaphor for the first 5-7 days. After the 5-7th day mark, fragrance free lotion.

I had to take it off by day 3 bc it was getting red & irritated. When I took the bandage off, some of the adhesive was also stuck to my new tattoo lines. It wasn’t fun. I wish I would’ve done it like this video said.
I had some adhesive still stuck to my new tattoo and I just left it alone. It came off after a few of my regular washes of the tattoo and it came out fine. I didn’t want to hurt the tattoo by trying to get the leftover glue off.
Yea it’s not necessary but you also have to think about what people do for work. I work in a clinical setting where I deal with patients all day and some are dirty or sick. I’d rather use the second skin so I don’t have to worry about it getting infected or rubbing against my scrubs while im moving around.

The past 14 tattoos I left it on for a week each time and no issues
I've been leaving my saniderm on for 3-4 days after a tattoo for the last 5 years now . 2 sleeves and stomach/both ribs done
