James Harry Arrowood (band director) brought Bill to Culpeper County High School in 1975. Full house from north-central Virginia. I wish, as a trombone player, that I had appreciated then as I appreciate now. Even today, few may claim Bill to be less than the most wonderful trombone player!
that’s so interesting! i graduated CCHS last year, and its jazz program has shrunk to near nothing. i know some other names like Maynard and such also visited in the old days.
I had the privilege to play along side him a handful of times. Very humble guy and amazing player.

Muy bonito solo de Bill Watrous.
Beautiful. The influence of Frank Rosolino is present in Bill's playing here. But, the solo is still Bill's alone.
