I remember this song back in 95. Still hits just as hard 29 years later.
Such a great music video ❤

This song makes me cry every time I listen to it. The pain in his voice cuts into me. The desire to be seen for who you really are. The alienation knowing that you'll never truly be recognized.
This isn’t just the best Blind Melon Song EVER, it’s also underrated as a pop/rock song. Not too short, doesn’t go on forever.Perfectly played and beautifully sung
Yesssssssd!!!!!☯️☯️☯️☯️
This album got overlooked for sure 👍
@@spencer6709most of the time over looked albums have the best songs on them
One of the BEST rock albums ever... so much pain in his voice, brings a tear to my eye even after the 100th listen 🙌
Good point, many pop/rock songs DO go on forever, from shite, utterly undeserving ones to good ones that then curdle for that very reason.
In the last 6 months i've begun getting sober. Getting rid of the booze was easy, getting rid of the coke was much harder but I did it, and finally gave up the opioids and that's the hardest and most painful. If I hadn't rediscovered this song i might've caved in by now. Thank you Shannon ❤
Good work man hope ur still good. Opiates are the hardest to kick I hear that.
Shannon Hoon rules
Good on you man 👍 hope it sticks
I'm here now, Shannon has been about the only real thing keeping me sane and clean the past week.
I can see the light ahead though, and will be passing through very soon!
That’s great to hear. Best of luck with your sobriety. I know it’s a daily struggle. Stay strong and I hope you’re still going strong. If you fall off, don’t despair. One of these times will stick. And I’m hoping it’s this time that sticks for you.
This used to be my favourite Blind Melon song, it still is, but it used to be too.
RIP SHANNON HOON AND MITCH HEDBERG
Agreed
I rarely drive steamboats.
Mine is Toes Across the Floor. I like its psychedelic vibe, and it has hints of Green Day's 'Longview' - about someone being bored and frustrated.
@@srujan00 nah blind melon is 1000% times better then green day
To this day, this song still gives me chills.
This one, Soup, Sleepyhouse. They all give me chills, I come here when I need to.

Same ; but , I don't know why . I get so sad when I hear it .... and I listen to it on a loop .
@BabyMetalMemes His band mates stated that while they were making this video they could actually see him getting worse day by day. Also , some people claim that the song is about his " love " for the drug that finally killed him.
I'm so happy that Shannon's legacy and voice is still heard in this world even after all these years. Right now for example, Shannon is singing in Norway. Forever young and missed.
Australia too.
What's the name galaxie:infinity forever.

I have so much love for this song and this band. They are painfully underrated, but for those of us who know how special they are, we are grateful!

Being genuine, being yourself, is such a great risk in life and in art. Love this song. So unique - heavily differentiated verses, pre-choruses and choruses. Epic!!!!!
One of the most beautiful songs ever made!
Such a tragic loss.
I'd never heard this song till tonight. I always used to kind of write off this band but this song changes everything. It's fantastic.
it was the same for me too
Why did you write them off? Just curious.
@@ProductionsGhetto thanks for asking. In my case, because I had judged their previous hits to be "too hippy" for my taste. This song wass stronger, and beautiful.
@@luovince Thanks for responding. What do you mean by too hippie? Just wondering. Also, which hits are you referring to - no rain, change, others? How is this song stronger to you? Again, just curious.
My faves are Tones of Home and I Wonder, you might like em too
We still miss you Shannon, we have not forgotten you. 10/21/20.

I was a huge Blind Melon fan and heard of Shannon's passing early in the morning prepping at a fast food restaurant. Not sure how I made it through the day.
I saw Candlebox back in Feb 96 in an ice storm in Nacogdoches Tx. They played this for their 3rd and final encore. It was freaking magical. The concert was in a basketball gymnasium...1500 people screaming the lyrics to this song...Kevin Martin...just stood back midway thru the song and was just blown away by how loud everyone was singing. Dude was tearing up...he was like" oh my God! Shannon had to have heard y'all tonight!"
Really?! I never knew they already have know each other! At that time, Blind Melon and Candlebox were my 2 favorite bands, I heard them everyday. I loved knowing that even so many years later! 🥰🥰
The word amazing sometimes gets used too often these days...NOT HERE though!! Thank you for sharing this AMAZING story - I know it sounds crazy, but I can almost transport myself in time and hear the crowd singing this, my favorite Blind Melon song together...goosebumps 🙂✌️
Wish there was a recording of that, 2 of my favorite bands. I saw candle box last Sept. With 3 doors down, they had a moment of remembrance for all the lost artists they'd made friends with over the years including Shannon.
One of my favorite 90's tracks. The vocals are amazing.
His vision of music was ahead of it's time.
Shannon's voice was so soothing. He could've sang the phonebook and I'd be entertained. What a sad loss 😪
TheInsignificantAtheist 😂😂 definitely
InsignificantNick when did he die? Very sad 😢
you can thank their drummer for that
@Evil Koala he was his supplier
@@wbwillie I'm not sure you can blame anyone really, if the drummer stopped supplying him he would have got it from someone else. It's just how these things go sometimes.
Best Blind Melon Song Ever
I agree
Flint Withers I honestly have no idea how this song falls off the radar like it does.
Agreed.
Flint Withers Agreed as well. In my opinion if this song hit now with a tad more "heavy"on the riffin'... boom! These guys are right up there with Nickelback-like success. R.I.P. Shan!
Steve Sullivan yeah rip shannon too young to soon.
My favorite band of all time! One of their cds are in my player all the time. It's been 6 months and still
No change. No other bands hit me this hard.
CD better still be there!
Is it still there ?
I was fortunate enough to see them live twice. They are one of a kind. Amazing! Timeless!
One of the most underrated bands of all time. Imagine if Shannon Hoon were still alive today.......
Seriously. I also often wonder what we'd be hearing from him. No voice even close to his anywhere. That scratchy vibrato edge he'd belt out ever so gracefully. My goodness, so damn good!
So much better live as well
Chris I often do, but the world is not big enough for all of us.
How do you know their underrated?

I've been loving this song for years now... there's something about Shannon's singing that is so unique... I like how they mixed some 60-70's hippie elements with grunge... I really love to sing to BM songs... rest in peace, Shannon.
The drums in this song are sick. This might be my favorite song to play live.
I want to get this song out of my head just to be mind blown listening to it for the first time again
by far their best song. shannon's voice is amazing
Heaven must have started sounding a whole lot better when you arrived. Rest In Peace, Shannon. You are truly missed ♥️
Hoping to meet him there.
Their best song!
It’s my favorite of theirs
One of their more underrated tunes... ages like a fine wine
In the larger annuls of Rock history, Blind Melon go down as a one hit wonder (no rain) But to us true fans they were so so so much more than that.
💯💯💯
Once I saw this "One Hit Wonders Top (something)" on MTV (remember when MTV played music?) and Blind Melon appeared on the list with No Rain.
My hatred towards MTV started to grow that day.
I heard Thin Lizzy referred to as a one hit wonder on the radio once. I was at a pub and the bartender was really pissed off.
james evans I remember them as well in this list, one hit wonder my ass
blind melon had hits cept no rain this song tones of home and change I miss any? I cried when Shannon died! for me it was worse loss of a famous person since john candy!
Shannon commented all the time that No Rain and that stupid song ruined blind melon
I saw a list on utube last week that said that. I wanted to find who wrote it and bitch slap them. Pisses me off every time I think of it, now I know I’m not alone. They don’t deserve that. They were an excellent band and Shannon was a genius
Do yourselves a favour buy blind melons albums, they get over looked. Up there with the greats of the 90s
This is a PERFECT EXAMPLE of
Corporate Execs presuming they know best.
This entire Planet is DEAF! All the feelings one person can experience in one tiny amazingly beautiful Song!

Love all the atmospheres of this song.

That wizard apprentice is funny as hell what a great video
Just rediscovered this song after hearing it back when it came out and not giving it its due……better than I remember really amazing song!!!!
I saw Shannon's last live show in Houston. They were great in a small venue like Numbers. I was devastated to hear he past the next morning. What a great talent lost
Is it true that the show blowed?
Even though No Rain is awesome, this song is awesome too. Wish it was a tad longer. It's over so quickly and it leaves you wanting more.
Amen!
I remember listening to the radio years ago. Then the song “I wonder” came on. I was fkn blown away. I walked right down to the music store (yes they existed then) and bought the CD. It stayed in my six disk shuffle CD player for like two years!🤘🏼🤘🏼
Miss you so much Shannon..

Chris Collins Along woth Portishead, definitely. Funny enough they both had amazing albums all in the same year. As for bands now, I'd say Lake Street Dive deserves far more recognition.
Andrew Pack lol I like Blind Melon but they most definitely wasn't ahead of their time

R.I.P Mr. Hoon 😢 gone but NEVER forgotten 😊

The fact that no rain is virtually the only Blind Melon song that got any radio play whatsoever is fucking criminal. Just goes to show that they want to keep good music from the populous, because good music encourages creative thinking. Food for thought, yall.
This song is a masterpiece!
Nunca me voy a cansar de escuchar esta canción. Es como un mantra. Sigue siendo mi canción preferida. Tiene q estar entre las mejores canciones del mundo. Y shanon: gracias. Nos escucharemos en otra galaxia nuevamente. Peace and love.

Cierto igual no paro de escucharlo
I Missed the Bus to school in the morning when video aired 1st time. Worth the scolding. And cab fair
Their best song, by far!
Back when creative freedom was just creative freedom... it wasn't designed by some trend setting business man.
totally! i love this song...
It has always been controlled by a businessman but they just learn the new tendencies we're just too young to figure it out
agreed to the maximum
If it wasn't business he might still be here. Money kills the creative spirit for those that don't like to be a puppet of the market.
Creative freedom is still fucking creative freedom. These guys had 1-2 mainstream songs (although they have a bunch of good shit).
There are hundreds of bands out there just as creative as anything from then. The difference is the mainstream doesn't care. If it wasn't for Nirvana bringing all of this into the mainstream, I doubt we ever would have heard of half these bands (and some wouldn't exist).
And yes, it wasn't just Nirvana, but they're what kickstarted bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and AiC to gather huge followings and then smaller bands like Blind Melon and Candlebox followed in their footsteps. It become profitable, so the mainstream gave a shit. Then they all started dying and the train moved on.
Doesn't mean anything has changed since, it's just extremely easy to be a mediocre DJ so people that have no business calling themselves musicians are flooding the market while the masses are dumbed down by amphetamines and benzos.
i love this, dont give a crap about the video. this is my fav. band & my fav. male singer-artist ever. nobody sounds like him.. period. adore these guys.
I agree with what the director was saying, Hoon kicking the windsheild in and acting crazy in this video is just brilliant!

Is this the place that i want to be
Is it you who i want to see
Holdin' on, hold it high, show me everything
And you're leavin' me, yeah you're leavin' me
You're leaving me with a hated identity
But i keep only comin' here and standing in this state
Oh and i'm never really sure if you'll take what i'm saying the right way

And i'll take a left and i'll second

The FORD Galaxie 500 is the car he sings about...is a sweet ride
My favorite song of all time, perhaps. I cant explain why. Just something I feel, and the pain in his vocals. I recently saw a documentary where the rest of the band said they get physically sick watching this video as Shannon was deteriorating by this time, and they were in shock when he started smashing the windshield of the car.
I was on the set, working on the video. Everyone was in shock and I had to find another windshield for the next day of shooting.

OMG this fucking blows my mind. I feel like Melon were one of the greatest bands around that Grunge era. Im only using that word bc i feel like they should be spoken of w the same reverence we have foer Alice or Soundgarden. Loved this album. God we lost Andy Wood, Weiland, Cornell Layne and Shannon. KICKING RUSTY Yep. The other band members said it was near impossible to even watch this video..really sad. Especially, considering it is my all time favorite song. 😢
Watching Shannon destroy the car windshield is watching a man in the depths of drug induced insanity. I've been there myself, albeit not to the extent of Shannon. I can't imagine what was going through his head near the end.
@@QthNevermore same here, brother
It's hard not to love such an original and rocking tune, which continues to get better.
Blind Melon weren't grunge so Shannon doesn't really receive the martyr treatment after his death but he's one of the great singers of the past 30 years and deserves the respect. Blind Melon really fused sixties cheerfulness and rock music with 90's alternative in a way nobody else did. You know a great singer when you can pick them out immediately, in one second. Shannon is one of those. #FuckHeroin
