We're taking a trip back to the swinging 60s, a decade of cultural revolution, groovy tunes, and some truly memorable automobiles. But not all memories are fond. Strap in as we count down the 18 ugliest pickup trucks of the 1960s! From bizarre design choices to outright visual blunders, these trucks have secured their place in history for all the wrong reasons. Starting off our list at number 18 is the Studebaker Champ. Launched in 1960, the Champ was Studebaker's last-ditch effort to stay relevant in the pickup market. Unfortunately, it ended up being more of a curiosity than a success. With its mismatched front end taken from the Lark compact car and a boxy, uninspired bed design, the Champ looked like two different vehicles awkwardly fused together. This strange blend did little to attract buyers, and the truck quickly faded into obscurity. The Champ's disjointed appearance failed to make a lasting impression, making it more of a footnote in automotive history than a standout model.
In today's video we look at 18 UGLIEST Pickup Trucks of the 1960's. Keep watching to see 1963 studebaker champ, ford ranchero, ford econoline pickup.

What I’m taking away from this is this guy doesn’t like trucks from the late 50s to the 70s. Which in my opinion are some of the best looking trucks coming out of Detroit.
Want some ugly trucks, how about the Subaru Brat or Ford Pinto truck?

I would take any of these trucks over today's. And how many times are you going to use the word "utilitarian?" What adjective would you use for today's behemoths? One you couldn't use would be utilitarian. But what really burned my a$$ is your #10 pick because my grandfather bought a brand new 1964 Dodge D100. I wouldn't have commented otherwise. If a pejorative term for a truck is utilitarian (strange since that used to be their sole purpose and why they were affordable) what truck from that time wouldn't you use that term?

You have to remember that pickups prior to the ‘70s were utilitarian work vehicles for fleets, businesses, farms, etc. Suburban buyers still preferred their cars and station wagons for comfort and household jobs.
Utility pickup trucks began to gain attention by suburbanites around the the very late-‘60s when RVs began to be popular (campers, etc.) as well as off-road recreation (4x4s).
Pickups today are a completely different animal (and their price tags show it!). They are better dressed than a ‘70s Cadillac!

4:32 The entire existence of the Canada-only Mercury truck line (1947-1968) was because of the arrangement of Ford Canada dealerships after WW2. There were Ford-Monarch-British Ford dealerships where they sold Ford trucks, and Mercury-Meteor-Lincoln dealerships where they sold Mercury trucks. Each had an opportunity to sell to the same Canadian buyers. The Auto-Pact agreement of 1965-67 changed the whole arrangement and the Mercury truck line became unnecessary.
Mercury trucks during this period didn’t need to be vastly different than a Ford pickup because they served their purpose for Mercury of Canada dealerships.
If you don’t like Mercurys, then don’t like Fords.

Does anyone notice how much this guy sounds like another RUclipsr named Dough who does similar reviews that are just as out of touch with reality? It is obvious that this guy turn's his nose up to anything that is not brand new or at least within the current decade. He has also mentioned the same trucks in different places on his list. My late father once told me that 1979 was the last year that Ford made a beautiful truck, and I sorta agree with him as I did not like the 1980 Ford Trucks, nor some of the Ford trucks in the 2000's. And every thing this guy mentions about the 1960's vehicles, I can apply to the (current) trend in vehicles as they all look like they came from the same cookie cutter factory. As it is funny how Toyota, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, BMW and others have vehicles that all look identical except for the badging. The Toyota Rav 4, looks just like Ford's SUV, which looks just like the Chevy Tracker, which looks just like a Dodge, which looks just like the BMW SUV even the Ford Mustang EV looks similar to the Toyota Rav 4 only with a front end that is seriously fugly.
