I can see arguments for most of these (not that I necessarily agree) but the Firebird being on this list is just plain wrong. There are also some factual errors in here, like showing the Datsun 210 when talking about the F10, which was completely different. A buddy took a new Yugo for a test drive since it was inexpensive, and we were in the US military, and couldn't afford much. He thumbed his nose up at my 12-year-old used Pontiac Lemans which got me around for many years problem free. On his test drive, the passenger side mirror fell off as he pulled out of the dealership and something from under the dash [Part of the heater] fell out on his foot. He tried to reverse back into the dealership, but it wouldn't go into reverse. He parked it on the street and returned the keys. We left and he never thumbed his nose at my car again.

A lot of these cars are not really ugly looking, they just have limitations of the malaise era especially the complaints about power. An XR4TI, SVO or a Firebird are not ugly cars. Heck even the F10 isn't really ugly especially in the hard top. I'd even say the Eagle SX4 isn't ugly either. In terms of the Cimmaron, it was an issue with execution as much as anything. Cadillac actually had a huge amount of success in taking the X-body used in Novas and making it into the Seville. It took a huge amount of effort to make it, that wasn't repeated in the Cimmaron obviously.

Won’t argue about it the Cimarron and Yugoslav. However, your judgement is flawed on the rest. They were available to those who were looking for an affordable car. The sales numbers reflect that. True, these cars are not flashy, trendy, or concept Cadillacs. These cars had a function that people wanted. Who are you to tell consumers what they want? Ego issues perhaps?

1n 1982 I bought a very basic Renault Alliance, it got 53 mpg , ok I needed to be Fred Flintstone on the hills. It had all the basics two windows that cranked up and down, no A/C. It was Dark blue so the pleather seats got very hot in the summer. BUT, it only cost a little over $8,000. My choice was a used car with someone else's problems or a new car. It barely meets the criteria because 1980 was it's last production year, but the Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 2+2 was even worse than the Mondial. I never thought of the Mondial as ugly, but for a Ferrari... yeah, pretty lackluster. Plus they badged it a Dino, and the original Dino 246 GT was a proper sports car and one of the best looking classic Ferraris out there. It's like when they brought back the Chevrolet Nova as an econo-box, which also happened in the 80s.
I think the Subaru XT's biggest problem was the Honda Prelude. I'm biased because I had an 88 Prelude, but it was one of the best looking cars of the 80s. I think the Subaru looked too much like an uninspiring attempt at a Prelude that went in poorly conceived directions to try and differentiate it. It's like they started with the nose of the Honda, then just drew a bunch of straight lines with a ruler to finish it off and called it good.
I had a friend that worked at a Subaru dealership that carried new Yugos for no more than a couple months. He said they had to cannibalize half the cars that came in just to get the other half to work. He said about 1 in 4 came without the pipe that links the gas tank to the filler cap. He ruined a good pair of shoes finding that out the hard way. The cars ended up being a money sink on warranty repairs and the dealership dropped them because they were costing more money than they made off them. I don't remember why a Subaru dealership was selling Yugos, but it had to have hit their reputation.
The Reliant Robin wasn't sold in the United States, but that would be my pick for the ugliest car of the 80s. It's another stretch because most of it's production was in the 70s, but they were produced in 1980 and 81. You don't need a degree in Newtonian Physics to see how unstable a 3 wheeled car with one front wheel would be. Top Gear mercilessly mocked it even decades later. You can find the episode on RUclips. Jeremy Clarkson spends about half the video trying to roll it back on it's wheels multiple times.

The idea of the K car was the same that Chrysler employed in the mid 40s thru '53, the 3 box design. Maximum room for its size, maximum serviceability, lowest cost possible. Still, it's amazing how many different cars they managed to spin off that original platform.

I have a black '83 Firebird T/A H.O. and it's one of my favorite sports cars of it's time, there's nothing wrong about the third gen firebird except for it's first year. now '82 was a very terrible year for the Trans Am, they were trying to fix some things for the '83 model year Firebird T/A such as having a more fuel efficient 305 V8, The '84 model year Firebird T/A was or is by far the most successful year for the third gen Firebird T/A, my dad had a white '84 T/A a long time ago before my brother trade it in for a crappy gray unreliable and ugly '92 Mitsubishi Montero that ran for 15 minutes.

I never trust a channel who's thumbnail does not represent its content. Why is there such an obviously beautiful car on your thumbnail? And then to top my annoyance you include the Datsun F10. Now I agree about the saloon version. The rear end of that was just WRONG! I agree totally about the saloon, but my second car was the coupe version. I thought it was one of the most beautifull streamlined little cars on the market. Hatchbacks were relatively new in those days, it was so practical, and another thing it had which many cars of the day did not have in the UK, it had cosiness. You felt so comfortable and protected inside, and even though it was a very small car the seating position made the bonnet look long. I do miss seeing a bonnet up front on modern cars. Also, you show photos of other cars during that section on the F10. You show the gorgeous B210 and others.

The Chrysler K car was a successful failure 2 reasons
1 it brought America to 6 passenger front wheel drive sedan's because GM s Citation was a problem from start and Ford wouldn't have a front wheel drive sedan until the Taurus in 1986.
I agree with you that the K car were horrible car's.
    The car of many firsts.
2 without the K Car chassis there's no minivan today
In the 1980s Chrysler couldn't build a minivan from scratch so they took a K Car chassis and built up. Hence the minivan was born
Baby boomer generation didn't want to drive station wagons like their parents did
So they bought the minivan in drogues
That is what saved Chrysler in those days and they paid back the government loan earlier than anticipated.
The Merkur was a rebadged Ford Sierra from Europe.
They couldn't bring the Sierra to the states because of the import tax so they built one and called it the Merkur and sold next to the Mercury Grand Marquis.
    Guess what people bought more!!!
And not to mention the chevette was uglier then the Pontiac Firebird.
The 1980s Firebird is the most sought after car today.
    You insulted loyal Pontiac enthusiast.

      The Chevrolet Lumina
Was supposed to come out in 1987 the answer to the Ford Taurus/ Mercury Sable.
The production was delayed until 1990
By the time the Chevy lumina came out the design was very late.
GM never caught up to the Taurus and Sable
GM got Disney World to pedal the Lumina Car and the dusbuster Lumina Van.
GM and Ford couldn't ever catch up to Chrysler with the minivan.
GM dusbuster vans didn't come close
      And the Windstar didn't either.

I had to stop at 1:22 into the video because you have no idea what you are talking about. You don't know anything about cars. You keep saying the AMC Eagle had the body of a station wagon when the images you show had ZERO features of a station wagon. Yet, there was a station wagon version, but was only one of the various styles you could get. Skimming through the video, when you talk about the Datsun F-10 you show models from the 1970's. The car in your thumbnail is a 1970's body style of a car that never existed. First lesson in doing a video about anything......HAVE A CLUE OF WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.
