  • An immersive theater show based on “The little prince” by Antoine De Saint Exupery
    Co-creators and directors
    Karim Galici and Veronica Rodriguez
Premiere in the Auditorium of the North Park University of Chicago (May 2018)
Visitors are invited to spend the night at Antoine's house, a pilot and writer who crashed into Chicago a few years ago. As he tucks you into bed, he begins to tell you about his friend the little big princess. Suddenly, the story starts to come alive and your bed starts to fly away into the universe. It's a whimsical adventure being told by shadow puppetry, rod puppets, and toy theater. Every scene has a scent, tactile stimuli, and audience participation. After flying through the universe, we land on planet Earth. There, visitors meet two very important characters: the fox who teaches the princess how to love and the snake who sends her back to her planet to reunite with the fox. Visitors are able to experience five different spaces, in some rooms they can feel grass, soil, and sand underneath their feet.
We adapted the script setting the pilots crash in the Chicago dunes. We made the script more inclusive by changing the gender of various characters and their nationalities. We also included a few jokes to make the show more current and enjoyable for adult audiences.
We were invited by North Park University to create an immersive sensory theater workshop for their current students and alumni. We had been wanting to do an adaptation of the book The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. This was the perfect time. Project in collaboration with Veronica Rodriguez.
