existentially speaking, this man pretty much did it all and saw it all. he was REALLY tough and a hardcore realist. a no nonsense man. the women, of course, found him irresistible. one of the most handsome men that ever lived.
Even in death he was upstaged!! Jimmy Stewart had to steal the accolades by dying ONE day later! And that's all you heard about! I was heart broken! AND FURIOUS!
People today who are film buffs, have not a clue as to what made actors like Mitchum tick and thought he was the characters he played......He was waaaaaaaay more.
Thanks for uploading this excellent documentary....Mitchum was one of the all time great movie stars. and he'll be dead twenty years this summer. I live in Ireland near where Ryans Daughter was made and stories about Mitchum have long since become part of the local legends. One famous story which happens to be true occurred when David Lean spent almost a week shooting a scene on a beach with Mitchum and he re-shot the scene over one hundred times. Mitchum finally lost his temper and turning to Lean and pointing to the extras who were watching, dropped his trousers and shouted to lean You've filmed every God dam bum in Ireland now you can film mine'! He stormed off and didn't return for two weeks. Irish humor being what it is, the extras who Mitchum described as bums were falling around laughing and when Mitchum returned he apologized and bought drink for everyone thus ensuring his place as a local hero.

There are no more Robert Mitchum’s today and he would not fit in today’s Hollyweird.
Sad to see how this country has fallen.
Mitch always liked Marilyn the person and not the image that Hollywood tried to paint her.

Music is so loud ,that the conversation is hard to hear. it just ruins the whole project.!!.
At 19:45, the bartender is (when young) the actor Peter Boyle ... Everybody Loves Raymond sitcom's Frank Romano.
