Katie's review is excellent and helpful. Here's my take on this device, which I got yesterday.
I got this device yesterday and put it on a cheaper (but very cute) $120 (2022) Kala and it works!
I was very careful because it is light and delicate.
I don't think I needed to completely undo my strings at the nut but I did, LOL! (Over-achiever!)
I got the UK2 with the volume control. It works!!
I will say that the only negative remark that I have about the device are the cables. The 1/8 inch male to female cord did not work. I just ordered a replacement cable from amazon. However, the 1/8 inch male to 1/4 male cord worked just fine. We plugged it into a Park app, made some adjustments and experimented with how the uke sounded with and without the amp. The sound with the device turned on is a lot like the uke without being amp'ed.
It's a very nice pickup and cheaper than the $150 I paid to have a pickup put in my cheapo ($170 in 2016) Kala tenor a number of years ago.
    Hope this helps someone.

As usual, all your videos make me smile and you bring great content. So I have a couple of questions about your experience with the pickups. First of all, would you suggest buying a pickup for each of your ukuleles? Or do you find it easy to move them from one you took to the other? It would seem, for me anyway, that I would get a little frustrated having to loosen the strings then tighten the strings and then after using the pickup unloose in the streams to take it out if you have to, and then returning the strings again. My second question is do you think it would compromise the Integrity of the strings at the tie bar at all? Can't wait to attend another lesson soon.

I'm guessing that this pickup will work on a baritone ukulele also.

Katie, thank you for sharing what appears to me to be an awesome tool. My favorite ukes' preamp pickups have long since bite the dust, so this might be just the ticket. Glad to know Sweetwater has them. I just ordered the $99 one from them.
    Questions:
How loose do you have to make the strings?
Is it hard to get the device in between the bridge loops?
Do they have one for baritone ukes??
As always you are a joy to behold and listen to! Blessings!

I use a detachable pick-up that goes use on all my accoustic ukuleles, guitars and bass. Love it!

That’s awesome! What brand is it?

@@OneMusicSchool I went looking. But, I'm in the middle of moving. There are a few on Amazon and Walmart $19-24. Round disk with removable backing that sticks on. Does not harm the finish on my precious instruments.🦋

Katie, I just bought the pickup device with the volume control. Should be here this week. But I don't have an amp. I'm also not made of money, LOL but I would like some advice on finding a small amp for my personal use. Mainly I want to know what to look for. My brother has played guitar on most of his life and he's always it's always looking for something at the pawn shops. In fact, my favorite ukulele was found at a pawn shop by him for $50. Be that as it may, I'm going to ask him to look around, however, if I see something in a used store, I'd like to know what to look for, what to avoid etc. Just wanted to know what you think.

Hi, I'm just wondering if you ever did get an amplifier? I would suggest the little Kala ukulele amp, which you can find used for around $50 or so. I have just heard a little of one being used in a shop, but haven't really fiddled with it myself. No pun intended. There are others, but if you want something that's just for you, it might do the trick. There's also the Flight portable ukulele amp and another from Positive Grid, but I'm not too sure about those. Curious to know what you decided!

The same company makes guitar devices too. I'm looking at them on the Sweetwater site right now!
