  • This is the 16th episode of the Race to Dakar 2020 : Africa Eco rally Race Team Races to Places with Lyndon Poskitt Racing.
We are in stage 11, the second last stage of the race. 474km from Idini (Mauretania) to St.Louis (Senegal) with a SS of 187 km, which proves to be a hard stage in the tricky sands of Mauretania.
News reaches the bivouac that one of the team members has been involved in a crash on the liaison after the SS. With no more information, the whole team is very worried. They only know that Joey Evans has been evacuated by helicopter to the hospital after hitting…..a camel.
The only thing they can do is hope for the best, and maybe, just maybe everything works out ok and Joey is able to make it to Dakar…….

I’ve just put a comment lower down in reply to someone else, but wanted to add something here...
First, thanks to the whole Team. Everyone, media, mechs, and riders.
Second, thanks to Lyndon for the vision, and for managing it all so well. And for bearing the unbelievable stress caused by other peoples’ lack of sportsmanship. We’ve had so many comments in so many quarters by people who should know better, and people who know nothing, all aimed at bringing down the enterprise, but they’ve failed, because of the Team’s determination to get the job done together, done with fairness to all and being straight with everyone.
Third, thanks to the characters in the riding team. We’ve loved Matt’s comments, and irrepressible humour. And his speed! (“The GoPros can’t take the speed”!) We’ve marvelled at Joey’s courage and determination. Greg’s ability to shadow Joey and learn from him and also look after him, a team within the Team. And Mike’s ability to just ride fast and make no fuss. The quiet man but always there. What a Team of remarkable people you’ve drawn together, Lyndon.
Now I (like many perhaps) didn’t gird up my loins early enough to make a financial contribution to all this, but I want to do so now. Is there any way I can do that now it’s all over?
And, again, Thank You. All of you.

To be honest, I just about shit when I saw that you boys crashed. My heart stopped. I got to the 18 minute mark and had to go to work. Just getting to the rest now after watching another channel interviewing Lyndon and Joey. Firstly, glad you all are okay. Love the videos, and your team spirit. All of you! Second, shocked at the ignorance of others in your observation of issue regarding the tires. Your honest and that is due to high class acts you all are. Anyone talking shit about you bringing it up shows lack of morals and sense. Sad. Don’t let that take a second of your earned experiences and exciting completion of this adventure. Not one of your fans will let it degrade our complete excitement and honour we feel being along for this ride. Respect

  • @kennethkrumm3501
    @kennethkrumm3501 4 года назад +1

There's absolutely zero excuse for any team or racer to use unapproved tires. If they claim they've been using them since scrutinizing, then that statement along should warrant disqualification from the race. Any racer that intentionally violates the rules of the race, has no respect for their fellow racers or the race. If they didn't know the rules, then they should have. Any fellow racer that supports a cheat, doesn't deserve your time or respect. You did the right thing, Lyndon! Really glad to know Joey's ok.

Another great episode, thank you. Had to laugh at Matt's Cool Hand Luke reference as he legged off into the bush when he'd finally got out of his tent!
Joey and Greg having absolutely identical overall times at the end of this stage says a lot and is a great reflection of how they've ridden together and supported each other. Awesome. Hard even with prior knowledge of the accident and outcome to see the concern within the team. Thanks again for sharing the whole adventure. ✊

Lyndon. I've been a subscriber to the Races to Places channel since you quit your job and set out for Greece, years ago. Now, I know that I'll be notified when a new episode is ready to be released but I fear that I'm developing some OCD tendencies as I find myself checking if the final installment of the Eco Race series is out, every day. Did the media van get stolen with all the footage? Are those boys on strike, maybe? Have you fallen victim to some cyber attack? Were there complications getting everybody home from Africa? Anxiously awaiting any clues.
Best moments of the series: Joey giving fuel to Nicola Dutto, and Matt's helmet cam veering off course through the bush at race speed.

I was wondering what Joey did when I watched the closer from The AER channel. They had him prominent with that smile and his new battle scars.
"If you got a $10 head, get a $10 helmet" A helmet is better than no helmet, but get the most helmet you can. I've currently got two Shoei (as well as in the past having one), and two AGV (found they fit well and I got both for a deal I couldn't pass up)

Loving the content. Watching some previous episodes, have you considered keeping some tubing and a little hand squeezer thing on the bike somewhere so you could transfer fuel from one tank to the other. Or is it a freak occurrence that it happened to a couple of you?

the only thing to do going forward if you are around Joey is to off him a packet of Camel cigarettes!😂 I'm sure he'll appreciate the joke. Glad everyone's fine though.

Another superb episode. I have a question: how many times does a rider crash during a stage usually?
