I don't necessarily like john Mayers music but the dude can play there's no denying that. And this is the coolest thing Ive ever seen anybody do for a fan u don't see this everyday
george allen... VERY WELL SAID! THINKING 'THEE' E X A C T SAME THING! So very cool of Mr. John Mayer. I do not follow his music either but that is not to impugn or deny that he can play, lights out! Man, can he play with such style and what is evident he has such a passion for & has dedicated countless hours to assure /ensure his fans are getting his very best! Good on him indeed! 🍀Seems like a class-act as well. I think it's time to catch a live show. His tone is phenomenal!
No ya don't see that every day! Was so cool he connects with the fans and knows what that will mean to the guy who owns the guitar. He will treasure that moment forever!
the real mvp of this video you ask.... no not john mayer.... no not the man whose guitar that was... the G IN THE AUDIANCE WHO TAKES THE GUITAR FROM JOHN MAYER AND DOESNT TAKE IT FOR HIMSELF AND HANDS IT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER
i gotta get it framed. it's going to hang around for a while. nobody is walking in the door looking for a signed and played john mayer guitar. i'll give 400 bucks.
People can say whatever they want about John's ego, but how many performers of his stature would have done what he did here? That was one hell of a cool gesture. How many fans can say their favorite performer took their guitar and closed out the show with it and gave it back autographed? NOBODY! VERY cool!
Nothing wrong with the enjoying life, what ego? He loves women, cleRly they love him... What proves he has no ego is playing a fans guitar and playing in the mideo of his show, thats a musician for u, its all for the love the music. Not suprised at all.
Mister XYZ but we don’t hear about that or even see it because buddy’s not a young man. And now either is JM, not anymore. Yea superhero. Not. He’s just doing wat he should do. Not a brain surgeon.
Sorry to bring this up, but yeah, bono brings people ON STAGE and lets them sing and play instruments with the band. I beleive The Edge and Bono also let someone play THEIR OWN guitar's and keep them after the song. Larry mullin jr has also gave plenty of people his sticks and even a snare once i beleive. Still cool that john did this, and this type of stuff is what i live to see. I know what you were saying though.
I think one of the biggest things to note is that he asks for permission first before signing the guitar (2:29). That is just a great showing of class and respect. Many other, more self-absorbed, musicians would have just signed it immediately without thinking about whether or not the fan wants a signature. Obviously, handing him the guitar is a pretty good indicator that he wants a signature, but you never know (maybe he just wanted John to play it).
Nah....imagine him asking can i sign it? And the guy/girl in the crowd going: "Easy now, dont do it, John....you dont have to do this. Just drop the pen, and everything is gonna be alright!" :D
***** What difference does the tuning make when it's Mexican? The only differences between a MIM and an American strat are that the electronics are cheaper and it has one less fret.
Nice dus65 But I think Scott Henderson using Suhr Guitars, maybe you mean Chris Henderson from 3 Doors Down, and yes he is endorsed by PRS. That's a marketing strategy so why he tell people to bring PRS. But it's ok, I'm still respect to any musician who cares with their fans.
Great gesture and great sound tech's! When he swapped it out the sound guys had it nearly muted for no feedback and noise plugging in the jack, then he turned up the volume and started playing a bit, the guitar was not cutting through the mix the way his was but a little later, it sounded perfect.
Agung Adidwadana Funny - I didn't see you. Must have not made an impression. Well, stalk me some more and you'll see a world of stuff that you can then talk to me about in a vague and slightly creepy fashion.

No, because SRV's guitar tech Rene Martinez did that. Funnily enough, Rene came out of retirement to be John's guitar tech because he thinks he's as good as SRV...

george allen finally a comment that got it right....
John took my guitar and signed it on stage in Syracuse recently. He is a good dude.

I never seen any musician doing this before. This is very big honor to the fans. Great John Mayer, I don't care with his personal life. He just great.

It's kinda mesmerizing watching him play with his eyes closed and smile at certain moments
To whoever thinks this was fake because of the tuning... First of all it is more than likely that this guitar was already in E. Second of all even if it was in drop D, open, G, etc... you can still play in key if you know the tuning. Also count the number of times that he played an open string...
