Ramon Lazo l don’t really like Green Day but watch Billy Joe invite a 14-year-old kid up on stage to play guitar (badly) with the band! Audience went ballistic, even though the kids sucked on the guitar. The best birthday gift ever for that kid! Then, Billy Joe let him keep the guitar! Sometimes these stars are actually pretty nice guys underneath it all!

Man, can he play with such style and what is evident he has such a passion for & has dedicated countless hours to assure /ensure his fans are getting his very best! People can say whatever they want about John's ego, but how many performers of his stature would have done what he did here? That was one hell of a cool gesture. How many fans can say their favorite performer took their guitar and closed out the show with it and gave it back autographed? NOBODY! VERY cool!

Sorry to bring this up, but yeah, bono brings people ON STAGE and lets them sing and play instruments with the band. I beleive The Edge and Bono also let someone play THEIR OWN guitar's and keep them after the song. Larry mullin jr has also gave plenty of people his sticks and even a snare once i beleive. Still cool that john did this, and this type of stuff is what i live to see. I know what you were saying though.

I think one of the biggest things to note is that he asks for permission first before signing the guitar (2:29). That is just a great showing of class and respect. Many other, more self-absorbed, musicians would have just signed it immediately without thinking about whether or not the fan wants a signature. Obviously, handing him the guitar is a pretty good indicator that he wants a signature, but you never know (maybe he just wanted John to play it).

    • @pablorojas3

Nice dus65 But I think Scott Henderson using Suhr Guitars, maybe you mean Chris Henderson from 3 Doors Down, and yes he is endorsed by PRS. That's a marketing strategy so why he tell people to bring PRS. But it's ok, I'm still respect to any musician who cares with their fans.

You put dollars , I thought you put £'s, that's like $30,000. I've never been a fan of this guy and never rated his playing much, but recently I've seen him playing in a few videos and I'll admit I've definitely been more impressed. He's either really inconsistent or did he use to be a junkie or something and was frazzled? He s definitely got talent but I've heard he's been rated in the Top 20 guitar players. Sorry but fucking way, there are guitar players that piss all over him. He's pretty good but he's still a slimy little cock puppet.

To whoever thinks this was fake because of the tuning... First of all it is more than likely that this guitar was already in E. Second of all even if it was in drop D, open, G, etc... you can still play in key if you know the tuning. Also count the number of times that he played an open string... You can tune a guitar in any tuning and move frets to compensate. With a guitar player as skillful as John Mayer, you could give him a guitar tuned to completely random pitches and he could figure it out in a few seconds. Third of all why would john mayer take time to set this up when hes got katy perry chillin in his tour bus. I could think of about ten thousand different things he could be doing instead. :p

If I were that guitar owner, I would have passed out as John was coming to me; wake down to pass out again when he started playing my guitar; try not to pass out as he asks for a marker, and finally have a heart attack with that closing of the song; if I had survived the heart attack, I would repeat the process as I remember everything while I stare at his signature

I don't think it is scripted what so ever. People talking about the tuning obviously have never touched a guitar in their life. What would he gain from doing something like this? Nothing! So doing this for publicity is out of the question and there is no logical other reason he would have scripted it.
