This is a fantastic trick for a beginner to practice his presentation with. I see a lot of people saying it’s too easy to figure out and whatnot. Remember, most of us that watch this stuff also practice it at least at an amateur level. We have different eyes than the layperson. I could actually see this fooling many that don’t perform. Did it fool me? Of course not, this trick is similar to a step used in some more advanced tricks. But it’s still a great beginner trick and the tutorial was very well done.

I think it would be great if the magician would get a piece of a paper, write what card the spectator would cut to, and put the piece of paper in the box. This alternative I think would also work as a great magic trick.

Unfortunately my 4yr old worked it out from your performance. I would suggest just using simple distraction is no longer enough in this digital age...
Ahh, damn kids and their keen eyes! Maybe when doing the 3 cuts, lay down those 3 different piles face up, and piece the deck back together in what looks like a random order, maintaining the bottom 'saved' card in position for that last cut?
Feel free to add in a false shuffle before the cutting sequence. To me it just feels unnecessary when the spectator already shuffled the deck.

Lol. Not every trick has to be a magician fooler. In person, if you do this right, it hits. Trust me.
There are people like us who are not very good with handling the deck but still want to perform some easy tricks for their children. This trick is simple and easy to perform and always gets a good reaction from kids and housewives.
