Great to see Patty in shooting form. I was a doubter I must admit. He does show up for the Olympics! Dyson doing a good jod. They still miss Thybulles defensive pressure , steals, blocks and deflections.
He lacks the physical talent and all-roundness to be a star player in the NBA, but he has crazy fundamentals which makes him fill in his roles perfectly. This is exactly what FIBA needs, where team basketball is prioritized.
It's not that they made a mistake. He improved yes. But you see how good he is with the ball in his hands. That wasn't going to happen in OKC. He's had some nice shooting but he's no MPJ or Klay, Hield, Korver etc.

Good game. You can really tell the NBA players by their confidence and consistency. Both teams were a little lax in defense on the perimeter. Australia was slightly better in on ball defense, with more steals France will be a problem but they need a quicker guard than Batum to guard Patty Mills.
Can someone tell me how Australia got so good recently. It has a relatively low amount of population (unlike US, Germany, Spain or Brazil and USSR when they were good), it has no tradition to build upon (like US, Serbia and Lithuania), plays in a really weak continental competition, doesn't have a strong domestic league (like US, Canada, Spain or Greece) or even a strong continental league (like US, Canada and every European country). Players are not particularly close either to US or Europe to go there en masse either. It's quite amazing who they've risen so greatly and won an Olympic medal, although they have choked a few more
