I wanted to include some more info in there like the circle with an L on the RWR that indicated some sort of laser illumination or even a Flanker with his Electro Optical system looking at you but this video was already so damn long that I just had to leave it at the basics for now. There is definitely some room for improvement and corrections but at the very least the users should have a basic understanding of what's going on.
Most information I did know, but still good to refresh it. This series it's definitely a recommendation for al new or fairly new A10 pilots. Great work! Would love you to make deep dives later.
Mate, if not for you, I probably would've given up. Many thanks for all your vids, you are a bloody CHAMPION bloke. Cheers from an Aussie fan...and student.
Alright i know that this is two months or more old, however i simply have to say that this is the most detailed, functional and to the point guide i have ever read,if actual school/college teachers were like you,the human race would be that tad bit more functional
Great stuff, thank you for doing this series. What the A-10 really needs is the HBWS, HardBass Warning System. If you can hear it, you're too close. 🔊💥
I have the A10 module but haven't gotten around to learning it yet. Despite this, I've learned a lot here that I can apply to other modules like my F18! Thanks a ton Ralfi!
I greatly appreciate your tutorial series as it has helped me getting vastly better in DCS. And it is always cracks me up when the ending comes on with "Caramelldansen" as it throws me right back to middle grade. Keep it up Ralfi!
Side note for notching at 26:00 - the rate at which you need to arc to the right is heavily dependent on the F-15's distance and velocity, so you may not actually end up flying that way at all. What you need to do is keep a constant distance from it, perpendicular. Which is easier said than done. Edit: Always forget the little Carameldansen thing is at the end. Cracks me up each time.
Hey Ralfie, thanks for the video on RWR, really informative and the way you explain things makes them so easy to understand. +1 for that. I am new to the A10, and kinda figuring out how the radios work with SRS. If you could direct me to something that is out there, thanks.
5:30 Also important to note that if you're beyond what he's targeting and you fly through that beam, you'll get that lock warning too. Seems this happens quite often when I'm on Hoggit. Take off and immediately get locked up. Well, that's a bandit at 80 miles locking a friendly closer to him. That's why it's important to pay attention to AWACS calls. If you're under hard lock and the closest bandit is at 80 miles, you're probably okay unless there's something masking in the hills. Which AI tends not to do. Players? Might be more likely.
Depends. “M” denotes a missile, but depends on the shape of what’s on the RWR. If it’s just a circle, it’s the MWS picking up a missile launch. But if it’s got a Diamond around it, it’s a fox-3 radar. The RWR can recognize some missile radars and even give it an identity like “54” for an AIM-54, most of the other fox-3’s will also be denoted as an “M” or “U” if ED is being sloppy.
Great video - learned a lot. Question: In the "showing you how to beam" you made a left turn - did you slow down in that turn? It sounded like the engines spooled down. Is there a reason for slowing down? Also, I've seen people get into the notch and lower the throttle - is that a good idea?
Hi Ralfi, amazing videos. I want to buy this module. I felt in love with the a-10. I would like to know if this module had been with discount in the past and wait for a new discount. Best regards and thanks for your videos man.
Mr. Dude, I have a question. If a nearby friend nearby were to STT a target, and you were to to pass through the STT's radar lock azimuth, is there a potential for the radar to lock onto you instead?
hi friend .I love your tutorials . I have a small problem with the mouse wheel ...i can"t zoom in and hold the CDU or the TAD OR to zoom in hold the position and click the knob or valve because the moment i"m trying to zoom in with the wheel it"s immediately jumps back and its imposible to zoom & click . i bought a new gaming mouse and the same . do you have an dvice for me ?
This is where we find out that all the research/tests ralfi was doing was total bull, and actually he is just trying to convince people to not use them, so he can use them as cannon fodder 😂😂
An easier way to explain it, is that every time you hear a tick that's every time a radar has pinged you. More pings = more radar waves hitting you from a source.
Would you say that the relative threat range shows you the range of the sam as a percentage of max launch range? As in the outermost circle is 100% of launch range normalised for different sams? If not, do you know the function or algorithm?
The only thing you can kind of rely on is the middle circle. If the thing is inside of the middle circle then you are pretty much within its firing range. Typically anything outside of that circle will still be out of range. That's all we know.
@@ralfidude thanks mate. This series is brilliant I've got to say. It's almost like a video illustrated version of the manual, with bonus bits and pieces hahah.
@@notravstar 😂 OK, I think you missed my point. I was reffering to RWR sensing being watched by EO, which shouldn't happen because it's a passive system. But, hey - what do I know, right? 🤭🤣🍻
@ralfidude you dont happen to offer 1on1 teaching sessions for DCS do you?😂 I have been trying to teach myself with yours and Wags videos but always wish I could learn it ‚live‘ 😬😂
Is notching still effective in DCS? I know real world its nowhere near that effective, royal navy sea harrier pilots tried using it in an exercise against mig29s prior to a bosnia deployment, didn't come close to working. The mig pilots just tracked their attempt then pounced on them.
This video has convinced me that no matter the scenario, the enemy will come from the right side of the screen.
Came for RWR knowledge, stayed for the outro party in the A-10 hanger

Can tanks track you with lasers? I may be paranoid but I'm kinda sure the newer russian tanks are following me

I finally managed to make it turn on and take off. OH LOOK, ANOTHER VIDEO! I'm 7 videos behind!

13:19 I laughed out loud so hard at this point I couldn't concentrate at all and had to take a break from the video.
Which was fantastic by the way
A video of this quality, content and even humor and memes ;), no matter how long it lasts, will always be short for us enthusiasts.
Thanks a lot Dude.

The A10c2 is a masterpiece in DCS. So worth the effort.
Glad to help!

Still the best tutorial for RWR in the net!
Too awesome, this was much needed on my end. Thank you, sir! Your tutorials have helped me a ton!
Now do the mysterious xmas tree that is the SU-25's RWR. ;)
Thanks! Even if I'm not fluent in English, I understood something and learned something!
That's great!
YESSSSSSSS! You must make more of these!!! Top notch guides!
Best DCS tutorials on YT! Thanks again for all the amazing content in this series! You're a star! =)
Dude i can’t express how enjoyable are these guides. Amazing job 🤩
I just watched your RWR class, and it was the best I've ever seen... Nice!
i get that you set it up to explain your point but watching an a10 shoot down a f15 put such a big smile on my face haha!
Episode 8! Hell yeah! Amazing as always and looking forward to the next
Outstanding, many thanks Ralfi
Excellent stuff, Ralfi. Your Paint-game is solid.
I actually had no idea about the mws. Man that's damn cool.
Great video Ralfi, keep um coming thanks and cheers

I didn't watch this for the tutorial. Only for the memes. Still worth it 😂 legend

*raises hand* Sensei ralfi...at about 7:28...will a sparrow really show up as M? i thought only active missiles did that...
Depends.

Slowing down helps for sure
The symbology for the RWR is truly horrendous... The fact that a little hat on a "15" completely changes it's meaning speaks for itself
So that's what beaming is.
Now I can beam myself up
A-10C II Manual link in the description is broken. I think ED updated it.
I'll take a look thanks

Did Dcs update what the CMS buttons do?
Any plans of a tutorial series on the hornet?
Nope, I'm not as confident with that module and it would be a bad idea for me to try and teach people that way.
An easier way to explain it, is that every time you hear a tick that's every time a radar has pinged you. More pings = more radar waves hitting you from a source.
Ralfie, if you could do these for the F18s and F16s. You would be king. I know there's a lot out there, but sometimes they just don't work for me.
The way those aircraft air to air radars work are fundamentally the same. Your situational awareness and defensive tactics won’t change against them
When the Russian Strela guy pops up 😂😂😂😂👌🏻

Are you a electrical engineer?
Because of the dot and x in the circels, while the plane is flying on the 3d axis?
Nice catch, but I studied mechanical engineering so yes, I did get that from the electrical classes we took

unless it's a mig 29 locking anybody up in STT. Then everyone on the whole map gets spiked. yay for DCS coding.
why are russians so angry, is it because they are always hungover?
