This run aims to complete Majora's Mask while pausing to equip items (or for any other reason) only twice. In fact, this can be considered "Majora's Mask in 2 Start Presses" since the start button was only pressed twice, for a single frame each. This run does not use SRM/TO (www.zeldaspeedruns.com/mm/srm..., which would trivialize the challenge.
I published the original 2 pause LOTAD on this date, 6 years ago. I've received many requests to remake this run (and wanted to myself) to both see how the route would change and to have a version with more bearable audio quality. With a more optimized route and gameplay, this version saves over 35 minutes. I consider this to be a great glitch showcase and a labor of love.
This run is a stream highlight and was premiered live on / zfg1 .

1:48:31 When Link jumpslashes, it consists of two sword animations--17 is the jump and 19 is the landing. During the state transition, it simply adds 2 to the current animation to get the next one, the reason for this being that the unused flip slash is animations 16 and 18 and uses the same function. It looks like that state transition happens twice because of the double jumpslash, so instead of the landing animation it plays animation 21, which is one of the two unused turnaround slash animations.

About the lag in that one place in the swamp. To answer the question of how the lag is on the GameCube version, it is ungodly amounts of bad. And it's not just in that area.

@@SSDARKPIT I own multiple versions, and of all the ones I own legitimately, GameCube is the only one I haven't beaten because you can only have the game run so bad and crash on a dime enough times before it begins to get frustrating
@@udczoey I have many memories of playing the GameCube version and I remember the game would just crash at random when I played a song. Sometimes it would and sometimes it wouldn't.
The swamp and stone tower I remember being the worst for lag, mine never crashed though. Where you guys playing the legit majoras mask disc, or the collectors addition one? Cause I was on collector’s addition
@@mizo3856 Oh yeah, the Stone Tower Climb is the absolute worst on GameCube. The freezing problem is widespread and documented, I'm just gonna assume you are among the lucky players. I think you might be getting the GameCube and original N64 version confused because Majora's Mask was only on the Collector's Edition Bonus Disc on GameCube. The N64 version (which is the same between both the standard and holographic carts) has crashed on me a few times as well, but it's because the cartridge is old and needed cleaning. The GameCube version meanwhile, is a poorly optimized emulation of the N64 version and the only possible culprit is that this was Nintendo's first stab at emulating a game that used the Expansion Pak because Ocarina of Time suffers from no known emulation problems

I just love watching these intense challenges and speedruns when the player is so low energy and nonchalant that it sounds like they'd rather be anywhere else. Like I'm nailbiting and on the edge of my seat while runners are just like "Well. Looks like we got this impossible make it or break it glitch first try. I'm just gonna make out my grocery list during unskipable scenes."

and this one was quite a special low pause run. lots of neat tricks, lots of wacky strats.
So what your saying is a revolutionary run for next year that doesn't need iron boots, and the only heart need for iron boots was the heart piece at the bottom of the lake in 3 pauses.... so two pauses oot 100% might finally be possible...
Don't forget that swordless forest escape has been found. The first pause was just to equip sword and shield. I'm just hoping that a new 100% low pause route wouldn't have like 5 hours of iron boots lol
Even now I'm pretty sure 2pause hundo isn't solved. In order to solve it you would have to 1. Collect every item collected with pause 1 on a different pause and 2. Collect the items necessary for what used to be pause 2 (Chus, Child Trade Item, Ruto Bottle) without pausing as child. Step one is easy because everything that was equipped on pause one is also used later in the run. Step two is trickier.
First, Ruto's letter bottle. In order to empty this item, you would have to pause as child and equip it. So we'll go obtain it, but not equip it or empty it.
Second, the chicken. No issues here that I see.
Last and the opposite of least: Chus. There is no known way to get the chus in BotW without pausing. Given this, child link cannot pause in Child 1. This also means that Adult 1 will start without bombs. As demonstrated in all dungeons, however, Adult is able to obtain bombs without pausing via the guay hover. Adult Link can therefore acquire chus with bombs (perhaps from spirit trial) and child link can equip them in child 2.
The problem with this is the bottle. Because child link can't empty the bottle, Adult Link can't use the bottle. This means adult link can't RBA the Odd Potion to get spiritual stones, and therefore can't open the door of time. So unless iron boots aren't equipped at all (which presents the problem of the marine research lab skulltula) 2pause is impossible.

I really enjoyed watch this run, even though I had to work through it in multiple sittings. I kept passing out early after watching for like half an hour. I dunno if MM's music just has special powers or something, but usually I wouldn't get knocked out watching things this cool that quick.

While the count would be pretty high because of Fierce Deity, I think it would still be really interesting to see an all Mask or 100% low pause LOTAD in the future.

I learned this a while back. When faries help fulfill their purpose with their paired partners. They simply die/vanish forever. I do not know it this is true (Navi) If it is so, It is really saddening for me. Cruel ofcourse and hard to let go. Wich this is also part of the purpose of majora's mask. Letting go.
