In this vid I'm playing as satellite female:
1. Only anterior and satellite Maips can pair to make sure there is good balance between them and ensure the best protection for offsprings
2. Anterior Maip are characterized by their assertive nature, eager to use force to ensure access to the best resources for themselves while satellite Maip are otherwise meek, preferring to avoid conflict and remaining discreet
3. Anterior males will display their strength by spreading their arms wide and stretching upwards whereas anterior females will hiss and spread their arms while leaning low toward the ground. Satellite individuals will make themselves appear smaller, with satellite males giving nervous, cackling laughs as they sit whereas satellite females will crouch down and roll on the ground when confronted.
4. It falls to the SATELLITE Maip to actually initiate courtship, bringing small gifts--usually food--to their anterior counterparts in order to indicate interest. The two individuals will engage in their usual dominance display with the anterior Maip warding off the meeker individual. When they go to inspect the gift, however, the satellite Maip will sneak closer while the anterior Maip is distracted, freezing when they are spotted as any movement could lead to them being chased off. Once close enough, they will tuck their snout under the snout of the anterior Maip with a soft warble, one that the anterior Maip will return.

To put as simple as possible:
Anterior Maip is the DOMINANT one - always first to eat and wants the best naping/sitting spots. They DO NOT look for satellite (less dominant) mate because they're too busy of makin sure they're boss around area they lives
Satellite Maip is less dominant, they aren't the first one to eat or rush to fight/hunt. It is LESS DOMINANT aka satellite maip job to find anterior (dominant) maip AND make them intrested in courting by gifting them with food (mainly but it can sometimes be a "weird" object like stick, roots, rock etc to make them distracted)
Couritng must be started by less dominant maip and the gender does not play a role here. Satellite male will bring gifts to anterior female and satellite female will bring gifts to anterior male.
Two dominant (anterior) or two submissive (satellite) Maips will n e v e r mate due to their characters - two anteriors will be fighting amongst each other for food and space and this will not allow them to take care of kids // while two satellite maips will have lack of confidence to make important decissions (like moving out or hunting)
The anterior and satellite maip pair creates the perfect balance to raise new generation.
This was really great to watch! Love when realism shows more than _just the hunting._
Nothing bsd against hunting, it's an exciting life & death risk for your character and the prey. Just, I love seeing more than just danger, danger, danger.
I love seeing the prickly situations of courting, or day to day activies of different profiles. ^^
Maip was the very first profile I got to see in a video to make me aware of PT realism as it allowed more players in. I've yet to play maip as it is a bit intimidating and i want to get the profile memorized for the most part before playing them. ^^;;
But im having a huge blast on the server. So far my most successful character is a brazen male dilo. He's had quite the success growing up into adulthood so he is very bold, curious and unfortunately likes to toy with his prey if they're more unfamiliar until he gets a bite in. He's managed to find another lady dilo too. Who is... very reserved and seems to follow his lead with everything so it's only making his ego swell. @_@
I swear it's going to get him killed one of these days.
He's jumpscared quite a few players too... creepy watching from a distance. Lol

It’s super interesting seeing others play out the profile. I have come to enjoy Maip with my few experiences. But I have yet to encounter a Maip who wants to court.
So seeing the two behaviors play out for specifically Male Anterior and Female Satellite is interesting.
I have a female Anterior one I play as and she is still rather young. But has managed to bring down a juvi Argent on her own. Despite the fact she failed greatly on her first hunt against a para.
If you have any tips on courting or the profile in general I would be interested.
I don't really have many tips to be hones... hmm maybe for hunts when you really need to pay attention on your stam because charged claw attack eating stam like crazy. For courting just follow the profile, I had to gifted many males before I found that one who was interested in courting lol

I’m trying to join this server and how many players does it usually have because I see it have like 40- 60 whenever I get on
depends of time but every time I'm online the servers is nearly full or full - max is 85 players but they do want make 100 slots soon it's just too laggy right now to have more then 85 players in the same time.
