Had to pay tax on something you didn't buy.. Aussie logic. Great video mate, such an interesting piece of tech.
Tax man, they are there own beast, lol, Cheers
Thank you for covering this barrel.
Lol, Cheers
I really enjoy how honest you are Mark. Please don't change your way of presenting how you do things. AWESOME!!!!!
Cheers Man, thanks
Good stuff on harmonics. A very misunderstood and unknown phenomonem among casual shooters. Great video.
yep, Cheers
I agree with you Kent ! And I think that's why they could make a lot of money with this magic dampening system LOL Cheers
I've shot the 33XC in a XL action, 34'' tube, pretty awesome! Will shoot a Stuctured 34'' in 300 Norma this summer. I shoot a Cadex Patriot in 300 Norma at this time.
Awesome, sounds great, Cheers
That’s fantastic! I had spoke to John last year about getting one out to you guys to test and put through its paces, glad he got you one out and can’t wait to see what you do with it.
Thanks James, Cheers man, all the best.
👍
That's a work of art! 😍
Cheers
Awesome video! Thank you, very much, for testing and reporting back on this barrel. I am looking at one of these for my next ELR build.
Thanks Chuck, glad you liked, Cheers
Very interessting barrel. Would love to see some more and longer test with this barrel. Thank you for sharing a lot of knowledge with us 👍
Thanks Man, Cheers
As usual, excellent review. I've never heard of a structured barrel.
Thanks Bud, glad you liked, Cheers
Thanks Mark. Glad to hear more about the barrel.
Cheers Jack, glad you liked, thanks
Glad to finally see some solid testing on video at long range with these barrels. I've heard a lot of discussion ,but no visual data. Nice work.
Thanks Toby, Cheers
Mark, if I could have one wish, it would be to be about 55 years younger and just starting shooting ELR and hunting at long ranges. The technology and materials available today as well as what lies ahead in the future is extremely exciting to me. I was one who was always trying to perfect what was available, as materials available for the reloader and wildcat rifle builder were limited to almost 100 year old technology and materials. I made many of my own bullets, reformed several different rifle cases but, most was designed to increase the speed of a bullet being little was known about Ballistic Coefficients. So, powder development was stagnant. At 75 years of age next month, I am too old to start now as I appreciate just being able to reload and go shooting, passing on my knowledge to younger shooters. But, man, if only I could get one wish!
Some might say, the achievement with less makes the accomplishment mean more, and to achieve a little more with so much technology means a little less....you know, and well no harm in wishing, lol, Cheers
Really nice review. John and Jacob are first class people who make incredible products. You will continue to love that barrel. They are amazingly consistent!
Thanks Dale, glad you liked, Cheers and all the best.
I learned a lot in this video, thank you. Also im very impressed with how intelligent and meticulous you are. Great channel!
Thanks Man, cheers
Keep up the great work .it's the people who think that come up with the newest and best ideas. I enjoy your videos.

Amazing work You have going on there - extremely sophisticated and informative also. THANKYOU both for You knowledge, team work, and sharing with us. Very exciting AND FUN for us over here 🙏🌟
Thanks Sam, we do our best, glad you like, Cheers
I’m consistently impressed by your knowledge but more so, how you use that to problem solve and innovate. Sam’s pretty decent on the scope and trigger too!
Thanks Man, Cheers
Another great video- thanks for the education!
Cheers Steve, thanks
Thank you once again Mark.
Cheers Dave, thanks
Looking forward to to seeing how it all comes together thanks Mark for the video
Thanks Jeff, Cheers
Cant wait to see it at 2 mile
The grouping is already tight , cheees for the updates ,look forward to seeing you stretch it out 👍
Thanks Ken, cheers
Thank you Mark. Very imformative. Sounds an expensive process.
Thanks Lisa, glad you liked. Cheers
Absolutely awesome, im currently looking at getting one of these barrels imported, not sure im convinced on it yet, might let you do some more r and d.
Cheers Mike, thanks
Thanks for the great info. I am looking forward to more on the structured Barrel.
Cheers Man, thanks
Great review, discussion ans explanations as always :) and thanks for sharing
Thanks Oddur, more to come too, glad you liked, Cheers
Interesting rifle! Thanks for the video. I'll have to pay closer attention to it in the next day or two. Went back and revisited your videos from a year or two ago. Really enjoyed the video from June of 2019 on muzzle jump. Keep up the great work as usual. Be well Mark and Sam.
Thanks Todd, glad you like them, Cheers and all the best.
That is very interesting hearing about the airflow inside the barrel....as said for such a big hitter, you make it look easy hahaha....
Awesome setup and I look forward to the next outing with the fireformed brass and tuned trigger.....
Same here, glad you liked, Cheers
Awesome Mark. Rad unit 👍
Cheers Lyndon, glad you like.
Great groups..
Thanks Shane, Cheers
Awesome stuff Mark! Looking forward to seeing it perform in later videos.
Cheers Rick, thanks
Awesome shooting! I have always wanted to get into this pursuit. Keep up the great work.
Will do, Cheers Walter thanks
Good Vid Mark & Sam rock 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💖💖💖💖💖💖💖😎😎😎😎😎📐📐📐📐📐📐📐
Thanks Man, glad you liked, Cheers
I'm amazed at how tight a group it shot while fire forming brass.
Cheers Bud, thanks
Really interesting stuff thank you.
Cheers
Can't wait to find out more in the future, Great shooting as usual and thanks for taking the time to explain ! I'll probably never see one here in Ireland 😔 but will enjoy watching ur journey
Thanks Dom, glad you liked, Cheers
It still blows my mind that you don’t really do load development with a seating depth test. Thanks for the video, love your honesty.
Yep, lol, and Thanks Taylor, glad you like, Cheers
Looking forward to seeing this!
Hope you like, Cheers
That thing looks like a barrel for some kind of heavy artillery!!! LOL Great video as always keepem coming guys...
Cheers
it’s the size of a tank barrel , of course it’s going to be very straight and strong. Gives a new meaning to Bull Barrel 😂. Probably took them a week to ream it and another month to make it
Cheers
That's interesting about the trigger. I finally got my 6.5 CM (Rem 700 S/A; 28" Shilen Barrel) out of a conventional HS Precision traditional stock into the MDT LSS XL chassis with a Mag Pul PRS butt stock. It's always had a Jewell trigger in it set to about 2 oz. What I immediately noticed now that it's in the chassis with the pistol grip is that where as, like you, before I had a very good feel for the trigger but now I can't touch it without releasing the firing pin. I'm thinking the difference is that with the traditional stock, my hand position was giving me an up and back trigger pull, but with the pistol grip it's now a straight back pull. Fortunately the Jewell is an easy trigger to adjust without taking the action out of the stock. I like a light trigger, but not that light, haha.
Yep, too light can be way worse than a little heavy, cheers
Great Video!
Cheers Amir, thanks
Saludos desde Sevilla 🇪🇸🇪🇸

Great explanation. Have you thought about cutting a sharp taper about a 45 degree just behind the muzzle brake? That would create a larger hole end opening and easier for the air to dissipate instead of hitting the back of the brake straight on.
Nice setup. 1/2 pound trigger is dangerous. I can't imagine how it would feel. I can't wait to see some more of this rifle.
Ah, well wouldn't work like that, so no not something I would consider, still glad you liked, Cheers
Great video so far
Cheers
G'day Mark and Sam awesome video did you end up changing to a 5 Port muzzle brake and if you did was there much difference. Take it easy guys
Yes we did, works well, Cheers
9:00 Speed of sound in steel is 3150 m/s or 10335 ft/s (ish, depending on the alloy)
Almost 11000kph/7000mph ish, but who's counting, lol, Cheers
Hello Mark and Sam. I really like your work and the channel content. I’m a long-time viewer but just only just subscribed.
I've been particularly interested in the 33XC Tacom HQ structured barrel series. I shoot .22lr NSRA/ISSF, and as you know we aren't allowed to shoot custom loads. So we're forever searching for the best and most consistent factory loads we can find. That means a lot of time with batch testing with different makes of ammo, not to mention the cost of having to buy a significant amount of that ammo to justify the batch testing.
I have seen other videos featuring Tacom HQ structured barrels, those shooters did mention that upon shooting something felt different. I understand you didn’t personally experience that for yourself but that’s what these shooters had to say. They also were saying that at even different powder loads and bullet weights they didn’t experience any difference in consistency.
So I guess my question is did you experience something similar? Also in one of your videos in this series, you mentioned having a light trigger. Do you use a single or two-stage trigger? Thanks for all the great content.
No we did not notice different feeling to shooting and we use all sorts of triggers, all explained in many videos, Cheers
Curious to see if you feel all of that is worth the extra price to go with that barrel. Very interesting concept, cheers!
Whats accuracy worth to you? Otherwise, like always, I'll talk on what I find, and leave the dollars to you, Cheers
Sounds like the trigger in the old bench rest rifle I just got from my grandad, 2 oz trigger before using it's set mode, at which point you feel the recoil before the trigger
Yep, gets tricky to use like that, lol, Cheers
was just thinking, titanium structured sleeve over stainless barrel. Titanium soaks the heat
Cheers
Nice white shirt!!
Cheers
That is interesting about the air flow. Do you think you could modify the first port of your brake for even more flow?
Temperature testing would be interesting but I'm not sure how to do that without a whole bunch of uncontrolled variables.
I'll be waiting to see how this stretches out.
Thanks Man, Cheers
If possible could you find some way to check poi across different loads? I realize it's not entirely feasible since 33xc isn't an off the shelf cartridge, but that was a major point I saw advertised, was same poi across different loads, if not then cheers its good to hear the barrels shoot good at least.
Not the sort of testing we plan to do, but many others out there doing that sort thing, maybe have a bit of a look around, Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork yeah, figured it wasn't up your alley, good luck with it.
Cheers Will, thanks
Very interesting technology. Would a carbon wrapped barrel like the ones from hardy or proof behave similarly?
Can't find solid info on their behaviour when heating up though.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thanks Man, and no, carbon is about light, not about harmonics, Cheers
Mark, is there a certain window of velocity you are going to shoot for? Lot of guys here in the states chase velocities windows all over the place. Great shooting and presentation as always.
Hi Otis, no, just like to know where the max pressure for the combo is at, and then come back enough to let work and last, then they tend to shoot for me, but different strokes for different folks, lol, glad you liked, Cheers
I’ve been reading of these. Glad you got one. I wonder how long before they make a drop in structured barrels for a gas gun
That seems like a waste IMO
@@taylorbokshowan5713 maybe so. But how precise have you gotten your gas gun? Don’t say it’s not possible because plenty of us do it and find it more challenging but more rewarding. But thanks for your opinion ol’boy.
They are working on it, Cheers
@@brandonparrett2436 I’ve never chased accuracy with a gas gun, never saw the point but to each their own.
@@taylorbokshowan5713
Why wouldn't you want as accurate of gas gun as possible? All mine are extremely accurate, I wouldn't own them if they weren't.
Really cool, does this barrel heat up and cool off in any significant way compared to a conventional ?
Glad you liked, all explained in the video and we will test as we use, Cheers
Hi, I was really surprised when you said that you found some sand (from sandblasting) into these holes 😨. I hope they put some good caps at the ends of the bore before doing it. Do you think a normal barrel with the same external diameter and length would be too heavy for the receiver or not ?
Depends on the receiver and everything else for that matter, would be very heavy, lol, Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork very heavy would mean very low recoil. Since you dont have to carry more than few meters it should be a good idea
I can't wait to see what it does out at 3-4000 yards
Same here, glad you liked, Thanks Robin, Cheers
I've been shooting a 33xc for a year now but I haven't shot it much past 2000 !
Mark do you think the tube on your chassis might restrict airflow through the Barrel Ports . Maybe a few vent holes might help ?
As said air flow is high, so no restriction there, lol, Cheers
I am unsure of your country’s laws but would a suppressor/silencer be available to you and do you think I would help?
Help with what?
What are you doing awake so early on a Sunday morning…. Ha ha.
No rest for the wicked, lol, Hi Dawesy, Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork Ha ha. You guys are one motivated and driven team. Which is awesome. Hope you have been well mate as it’s been a while since we have spoken.
Yes all good, all the best mate, Cheers
Podría traducir a español
Awesome, Cheers
Ammo prices make it impossible to love rifles and videos
