The comments about having to have a team effort and spotting the shot being so important is the exact reason your videos are so great. You have some of the best spotter and shooter communication, amazing teamwork!
Thank you Jack, Cheers
I am dead. You had me at the crickets scene.
Is it possible for me to like a video TWICE?
Thanks as always for sharing Mark.
Thanks Man, glad you liked, Cheers
appreciate your honesty, and admire your decision. I raced motocross for most of my adult life, and like you now I just like challenging myself with my shooting and load development. It’s very relaxing for me for a couple hours a week
Thanks Kort
As you rightfully say not everyone needs to compete but competing against yourself is the biggest competition of all… love the sport, enjoy the show, keep them coming…
Cheers Vasco, thanks
YT algorithm thought I'd like to see this. Absolutely right!
Like your thoroughness and easy to follow narrative. Well done sir.
Cheers Charlie, thanks
I competed in LE pistol competitions when I was in that business, but only when the courses were centered around real world situations and not fashioned after the ipsc gamer versions that were not meant for surviving gunfights on the street. When things became more centered around gamer shooting, I stopped "playing" in that realm and began my own competitions against my own skill levels and progressed from there. I fully understand what you mean my friend!
You always bring your very best to your presentations and it is very much appreciated my friend!
Thanks you Titus, yes I sure understand, cheers
These are easily the most educational long range shooting videos online. You go out and discover all of these fantastic ballistical facts and then come back and report to us as if we are your superiors. You two are a fantastic team. Very entertaining and educational as always thank you so much.
Thanks James
God bless you both, no one in social media can hold a candle to your accomplishments as a team.
Your sincerity and research are impeccable. Can't wait for your next project.
Thanks Brendan, glad you like man, all the best
Same idea on winning and competition. When I was younger I was a mixed martial arts fighter, I fought for and won the title in my weight division, then two weeks later I gave the organization the belt back. I never really enjoyed winning as much as seeing others achieve their goals, becoming a better version of who I want to be has always been what has driven me.
Awesome and great work, glad you liked the video too, cheers Chris, all the best
You and Sam are awesome. So much logical knowledge and opinions I love it.
Thanks James. Glad you liked. Cheers
Live vicariously through you guys. Farthest I can shoot in Indiana is 1000 yards. Learn so much here. Appreciate you both.
Awesome, cheers man
I agree with you, been through many builds always moving in the bigger direction, started 375cheytac,408cheytac,now 416barrett.Not doing 2 miles with it,but right now I’m enjoying my 300prcand my 6.5prc.I’ve heard so many people say I can’t believe they can’t get on target at 2 miles with five shots. They don’t realize how many different directions the wind is blowing, spindrift, coriolis,up drafts down drafts,it’s not as easy as most people think.Yes spotting your miss is a must.Great video.👍🍻
Thanks Steve, yes agreed, glad you liked, cheers
You expressed my sentiments on shooting perfectly. I'm from South Africa and have similar firearm ownership issues. I think you are a true champion. Keep well. GOD bless
Cheers rich. Thanks man. All the best
I know exactly how you feel about competing. I am exactly the same way. Rather compete against myself. I still love your videos!
Cheers Billy, thanks
I like seeing the evolution of your rifle builds throughout the years. The smoke coming from the 50 is pretty neat as you work the action. Thanks for the video, cheers!
Cheers mike, thanks man
Thanks for another great video. I particularly liked your attitude about competition and winning. My friends and I go do a little long range shooting for fun and we try to outshoot each other just for laughs. But mostly we are coaching each other and helping everyone do absolutely the best they can each time. We have a great time, we learn and grow our skills, and build great friendships along the way. Thanks again to you both, Have a great day at the range.
awesome, thanks Ron, Cheers
Love your attitude about this subject, lots of the same feelings. Thank you for all you do. Great stuff.
Thanks Man, glad you liked, all the best, cheers
I feel the same way about competition, it's quite enough competing against all the factors involved in the art itself without complicating matters with rules and regulations and other people! Thanks for the video!
Cheers Geoff, thanks
Your content is really good and well thought out. I think like you on competition. I have had several people ask why i do not do them and have the same answer as you. I am in competition with myself to just become a better shooter. Trophies and praise really don't mean much to me. I know what i can do and i strive to become better for myself and not for what others think. Keep up the good work and Good shooting!
Thanks Man, glad you like, Cheers
Excellent content, as always. I admire your sportsmanship greatly. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Josiah, Cheers
Thanks for promoting our sport/pastime in such a positive way 🇦🇺
Thanks Guys, cheers and all the best.
Hi Mark.. Nice review of all the rounds and pro's & con's. Very good info on selection for ULR. I loved the snap shot of lessons learnt from very early days to now. Thanks for the great share!!
Thanks Dave, glad you liked em, cheers mate.
Thanks, you have given me some things to think about. It's amazing to me what you do, just keep doing it. :)
Thanks Dan. Glad you liked. Cheers
Great video right on target for an ELR channel. Loved it
Cheers
I just got into long range , not ELR and the learning curve got steep past 600 yards. I don't know that I'll ever make a 2 mile shat a consistent goal but I would love to try it some day. Just getting an idea of what it takes would be fun !
Cheers Dave
@@markandsamafterwork From northern Minnesota to your neck of the woods , thanks mate !
Wonderful vid. I enjoyed the clips about the shots over the years and your insights into making them. Best to you guys in the year ahead. +1 and new subscriber.
Awesome, Cheers Man, thanks
Excellent video. Puts some good perspective on the game.
For me, serious competition puts me in a mindset that takes the fun out if, so no thanks.
Yep, lol, cheers
Two things about competitions, if you don't enter you cant win but you also cant loose.
Its always nice to share a moment or achievement with someone who cares though and you are lucky enough to have a partner who enjoys the sport with you. I've got a misses who likes shooting as well and that's about all you need, guess we won anyway. keep up the good work i can still see you ripping up the road in a supercharged 304 in a pair of thongs and footy shorts lol.
Cheers Brenton
Lol, Cheers Brenton, thanks man
When i first heard about the King Of 2 Miles i thought you guys would shit it in but now that i know more about your work life i completly understand why you couldn't compete
Cheers Craig, thanks man, all the best.
I actually think the most valuable comment in this whole video is about being able to see your shot impacts. I have learned the hard way that if you can't see your shot impacts, all you are doing is making noise and wasting ammunition. Why I'm so envious of your ploughed fields.... :-)
Lol, yep, Cheers and all the best.
Great video, I am currently using 6.5 creedmoor and .338 lapua for my "long" range needs, but would love to get my hands on a .375 gibbs to do some elr shooting. Right now I can only shoot out to 1200 yards at my range.
Thanks Mason
Great video. I’m very excited to get my 300 rum back from the gunsmith. I’m limited at the moment to 2500 yards at the range until I find a farm around my dads that will allow me to shoot so right now that big enough for me. Think it’s more curiosity about the big ones that gets me. I’ve always likes the 408 better than 375 and wondered how the heavies compared to each other if one was easier to stabilize I might get there we’ll see. But great video thanks again for the info
Thanks Tim, glad you liked man, Cheers
To start with competitions is a very effective way to take away the joy of your interests. The joy of doing what you like disapears, and it ends up being all about winning.
Agreed, Cheers
Great video Mark&Sam and the information you provide is great thanks
Thanks Jeff, Cheers
Regarding the use of the 50 BMG as a semi precision rifle, I can give a bit of history of US military use. Marine Carlos Hathcock in Vietnam cobbled together a scope on a M2 machine gun & used it some. The semi -auto 50 Barrett's were originally obtained with the intention of some special ops guys taking out some of Saddam's Migs on the ground, the rifles were obtained but the mission got scrubbed. The Navy used them for floating mine disposal.
Thanks Richard, Cheers
Great job Mark really enjoy your videos !
Cheers Man
As always awesome video. And as always great information. Keep the amazing videos coming
Thanks Man
Good stuff chaps, informative as ever. On the .50BMG,I think it was probably McMillan that put it in a DMR platform, semantics though.
Thanks Tyrant, cheers
Good video. Nice to see a 30-378 . It works great for me .
Cheers Man, thanks
Very nice summary, thanks. Good to get unbiased view.
Thanks Heinrich
This was super informative. Truly appreciate the share!! I understand on the competing thing, but you must realize that you have fans that would like to meet you and Sam watch a shooting exhibition or something! I’d be there! It would simply be nice to shake your hands in person and say thanks. Cheers. Jh
Thanks John, and just one lotto win, lol, Cheers
Cheers mate the answer you gave is the right one
Thanks Man, cheers
Very good my friend. Cheers.
Thanks Walter, Cheers
Really enjoyed this video, keep doing what you do, your channel is the best and packed with awesome information 👍
Thanks man, Cheers
Racing and long range....love it!
Cheers
Have you seen anyone using the 7mm Dakota? I am a 7mm fan and have considered it. I have also played with the idea of the 338 Extreme Tactical. Great video on this subject. You were very non-biased. Thanks for that.
Cheers Man
Very interesting........................ thanks !!
Thanks Man
Another great video. Thanks for posting.
Cheers John
I love to shoot long range but I don't shoot competition so my gun also needs to hunt so it's 7mm for my $$ thanks for the grate information you guys are amazing
cheers Joe, thanks
Solid message
Thanks Man
nice video...a challenging "hobby" to enjoy...wish I had the land too shoot on, as well as the funds to purchase the rifles for the different cartridges .....(side bar) I use to own a mini 14 rifle..a fun gun to shoot...I watched a forum were guys tried to make them into one hole rifles at any given yardage...while I don't begrudge them for their efforts, my opinion this wasn't the type of rifle for that. My round that I wish to work with more is .308/7.62x51...I have a couple of M1a now . and a H&K91 knockoff..need to get a bolt gun. I have a good stash of .308 and is still reasonably priced and again enjoyed your conversation.....
Thanks Man, Cheers
Thanks Mark.
Cheers Dave
Best cartridge for everything - 300WM:-) But You're right for this distances .338 is one to start.
Cheers
Thanks a lot:-)
.50BMG is My Choice But The .416 Barrett Is Also a Great Choice 😀😊😀
Lol, Cheers
Very good info mate
cheers
Rob
Cheers rob
Very good info Mark
Thanks man
Great content thanks for sharing, very informative
Thanks John, Cheers
2 miles …. Heck I have a hard time finding a safe place to shoot 300 yards . I’m relegated to watching you guys having fun but that’s ok when I think of the expense of this sport . 🙂
Cheers
I live in pine tree country and is very hard to get a place to shoot 500 yards. Better not poke a hole in a tree.
Honestly I've never really thought seriously about shooting 2 miles. But in terms of cartridge, I might choose something like a 270 WSM or a 6.5 PRC. Perhaps go bigger than those... In order to see where my shots are landing, I would just fly my quadcopter down and set it in front of the target and set up a screen to watch.,😁
Cheers
No 28 Nosler? Great video.
Lol, lots missing, glad you liked Otis, cheers
Awesome video, Mark have you ever hit one of your cameras that is set up at the target
They are protected, lol, cheers
@@markandsamafterwork that's good, I was just wondering
When your shooting 273 MOA to hit 2 miles plus are you using an adjustable scope base to achieve that? I’m looking at buying one going to shoot .300prc and want to hit 2 miles.
Thanks
ruclips.net/video/FsbakJeaWeY/видео.html
@ thank you for that.
Have you ever tried the 338 Remington ultra mag .love your videos
No, but we have used the 338 edge, taken to 3000 yards so far, Cheers
I used to have a .300 Win Mag, but I switched to 7MM Mag. Almost as powerful with a bit less recoil.
Cheers
If someone is just beginning, what rifle would you suggest? Also what ranges would you suggest start it?
We have lots of videos to help with those sort of answers, use the channel search feature to help find them, Cheers
@@markandsamafterwork thank you. I really enjoy your videos. Great content. Best of luck, cheers
Thats exactly how I am about competing, just not my flavor
Yep, cheers
What is the thing infront of optic?
Lol, lots of videos there, but a elevation adder of one kind or other, Cheers
Just take the world record and go on about your business. There you’ll only be competing with physics. There should be a lot of competitive long-range shooters out there very grateful that you don’t enter competitions. No disappointment here. I love the way you handle your business it seems like the bullets thrive from your modesty.
Lol, Cheers James, thanks
what can push a 300grainer over 3000fps?
33XC
5000 yd shots says it all
👍👍
You talk about politics. I did a field shoot (hunting senarios) once and the one guy said . Yes this city boys that think they can shoot is just wasting our time. Well. First and last time i did that. No time for rude people. Greetings from south africa.
Cheers Johan
Yeah and you know what you got a good old lady she can shoot do I know this and you're the best friend so I understand you pretty good
Cheers
Competition is a good way to ruin a fun hobby
Lol, yep, cheers
