      I wonder about that, I was hoping that Cadillac would have considered an two-car effort in WEC as they do in IMSA, but that is not in the cards for this year.
      I think that the only other concern that I have with the V-Series.R is that from all the reports around the car, from even the drivers, is that it drives on a knifes edge in race trim. You see with how the drivers have to wrangle with it when traffic hits, and how aggressive drivers are with the car. It makes for some spectacular driving, until your luck runs out.... and for this program, it has. A Lot.
      They are competitive, but it going to take more work to get the performance where podiums are a constant. And the grid will not back down.

      To be fair, those big pistons are still moving pretty damn fast. The 5.5L V8 revs out to 8.8k RPM, and the gearbox is clearly set up to keep it up there as much as possible. I'm not as familiar with WEC, but in IMSA's GTP class, only the Acura revs higher, with its Indycar-derived 2.4L V6 redlining at an eye-watering 10k RPM

    I had the chance to see one of these up close in Michigan at the annual Eyes on Design show a few months ago. Very impressive car design and tech. I love how they captured the signature Cadillac vertical tail lights on the race car. It did very good for its development year and expect it to be in top competitive form soon. I heard the power used in this video...about 650 hp as I recall....was turned way down from what it could produce...over 1000 hp. I am a retired engineer and those scenes of the car running in the wet revealed some really trick aero. Did you notice the lack of a big rear wing? The aero is internal on the car using routing of air under and through the car to minimize drag while still providing huge amounts of down force.

    • @Italiansupercarvideo
      @Italiansupercarvideo  11 месяцев назад

      Everything you say is correct, even about aerodynamics. As for power, I'm pretty sure that 650 hp is the maximum regulation limit because even the Ferraris and Lamborghinis I filmed recently have the same power as Cadillacs.

      @@wilhamcobly3805 Beato te! E immagino cosa sia vederla dal vivo, cavolo! Credo che sia una delle LMDh più belle, esteticamente. Caddy, Lambo, Isotta, e Alpine a mio parere sono quelle che non hanno paragone come estetica. BMW è anche interessante, stessa cosa per Porsche. Uff, è difficile fare una classifica dei bolidi IMSA

    Formula 1 should have this freedom. Manufacturer can choose either v6 hybrid, v8 hybrid, or N/A V12

      Thank you, it's really true, even if you can see American cars in Europe, it's not that frequent and this, in my eyes and ears, is something particular and unusual and therefore always well received. Greetings from Italy 🖐

      The new Lamborghini LMDh has a twin-Turbo V8 engine, while Cadillac has created a naturally aspirated V8 and oh my, what a beautiful sound! 😍

    Im definitely no expert but im willing to bet that the reason the car is rolled on an electric motor initially is to save the first gear clutch (assuming its a dsg/twin clutch gearbox?) Either way its really fascinating and trouser bulging noise 😊

      These cars run a full sequential gearbox, so the clutch is only used for launches. The hybrid launch definitely helps in that regard, especially with the Cadillac's extremely long 1st gear, even when compared to other Hypercars.

    I have me a Justin Schmidt tuned ATS V that is just too much fun! I am a Cadillac Fan. Holy Guacamole this Hypercar in the rain looked like an Unlimited class Hydroplane! Mind Blown! Is this engine of any relation to C8 Z06 cross plane crank engine?

    • @Italiansupercarvideo
      @Italiansupercarvideo  8 месяцев назад

      There's this excellent interview where the engine is explained, which is made entirely new specifically for this car and has no relation to that of the C8 Z6: www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a44665266/cadillac- lmdh-v-8-analysis
